Procedural steps for reliability evaluation of ultrasonically welded REBCO coated conductor lap-joints under low cycle fatigue test condition

  • This study presents a comprehensive procedure for the low cycle fatigue test of ultrasonically welded (UW) coated conductor (CC) lap-joints. The entire process is examined in detail, from the robust fabrication of the UW REBCO CC joints to the reliability testing under a low number of repeated cycle fatigue conditions. A continuous Ic measurement system enables real-time monitoring of Ic variations throughout the fatigue tests. The study aims to provide a step-by-step procedure that involves joint fabrication, electromechanical property (EMP) tests under uniaxial tension for stress level determination, and subsequent low-cycle fatigue tests. The joints are fabricated using a hybrid method that combines UW with adding In-Sn soldering, achieving a flux-free hybrid welding approach (UW-HW flux-free). The selected conditions for the low cycle fatigue tests include a stress ratio of R=0.1 and a frequency of 0.02 Hz. The results reveal some insights into the fatigue behavior, irreversible changes, and cumulative damage in the CC joints.

부식촉진실험을 이용한 강교용 무도장 강재의 부식내구성 평가 (Corrosion Durability Evaluation of Uncoated Structural Steel Using Accelerated Exposure Tests)

  • 도장, 용사 및 도금 등의 강교용 방청법의 장기내구성 평가에는 대기노출실험법이 사용되고 있으나, 노화데이터를 얻기까지는 수년에서 수십 년이라는 장기간의 실험기간을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 방청법을 포함하여 최근에 개발, 사용되고 있는 강교용 방청법의 장기내구성의 단기간 평가를 위한 기초단계로서 무도장 강재의 부식내구성 평가를 위한 부식환경 촉진실험법의 활용에 대해 검토하였다. 본 실험에는 일본공업규격(JIS)에 규정되어 있는 S6-cycle 부식환경 촉진실험조건을 이용하여, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150일간의 무도장 강재의 부식 중량감소량 및 두께감소량의 경시변화를 정량적으로 평가하였다. 그리고 기존의 대기노출실험과 본 실험으로부터 구한 중량감소량을 이용하여 촉진배율을 산출하고, 대기노출실험지의 지역환경구분, 해안선으로부터 거리, 아황산가스량 및 비래(飛來)염분량과의 관계를 검토하였다. 그 결과, 촉진배율을 비래염분량으로 정식화하였으며, S6-cycle 부식촉진실험결과의 대기노출환경에의 활용 가능성을 제시하였다.

최대 산소소모량 평가에 있어서 자전거 에르고미터를 이용한 최대하부하검사방법의 타당도 (Validity on Submaximal Load Tests Using Cycle Ergometer in Evaluation of Maximum Oxygen Consumption Volume)

  • Because of the limitations of maximal load tests for $VO_2max$, submaximal tests using cycle ergometer are used for field study in general. This study was conducted to evaluate validity of various submaximal tests using cycle ergometer. This study had been conducted during May to June 2005, which subjects were 15 males and 15 females in twenties. Experiment was performed with restrictive conditions which regulated ambient temperature, noise, and entrance restriction. Submaximal load test protocols including YMCA Protocol (YP), ${\AA}strand$-Rhyming Protocol (ARP), Relative heart ratio Protocol (RP), and Ramp test Protocol (RP) were compared with maximal load test which used gas mask analyser using Bruce Protocol. All submaximal load tests were highly related with maximal load test (Spearman's correlation coefficient > 0.60) with statistical significancy. The highest correlation coefficient with maximal test was found in RP. Three submaximal test results except RP were significantly different with maximal test results (Wilcoxon rank test). All submaximal tests had high validity. The reason why RP had highest validity might be that it represents Korean physical strength and individual differences better than the others. RP using cycle ergometer would make easy to study for physical capacity evaluation and field workload estimation.

주조 알루미늄합금 A356의 저주기 피로특성 및 피로수명 모델 (Low Cycle Fatigue Characteristics of A356 Cast Aluminum Alloy and Fatigue Life Models)

  • Low cycle fatigue characteristics of cast aluminum alloy A356 with a yield strength and ultimate strength of 229 and 283 MPa respectively was evaluated using smooth axial specimen under strain controlled condition. Reversals to failure ranged from 16 to 107. The cast aluminum alloy exhibited cyclically strain-gardening behavior. The results of low cycle fatigue tests indicated that the conventional low cycle fatigue tests indicated that the conventional low cycle fatigue life model was not a satisfactory representation of the data. This occurred because the elastic strain-life curve was not-log-log linear and this phenomena caused a nonconservative and unsafe fatigue life prediction at both extremes of long and short lives. A linear log-log total strain-life model and a bilinear log-log elastic strain-life model were proposed in order to improve the representation of data compared to the conventional low cycle fatigue life model. Both proposed fatigue life models were statistically analyzed using F tests and successfully satisfied. However, the low cycle fatigue life model generated by the bilinear log-log elastic strain-life equation yielded a discontinuous curve with nonconservatism in the region of discontinuity. Among the models examined, the linear log-log total strain-life model provided the best representation of the low cycle fatigue data. Low cycle fatigue life prediction method based on the local strain approach could conveniently incorporated both proposed fatigue life models.

  • Nondestructive and destructuve insulation tests were performed the high voltage rotating machine in the local thermal power plants. Nondestructive tests include measurements of insulation resistance. polarization index, AC current. tan$\delta$, partial discharge. Destructive tests include measurements of AC hipot and DC hipot. This paper propose to establish the insulation diagnosis cycle for high voltage rotating machine.

Rapid S-N type life estimation for low cycle fatigue of high-strength steels at a low ambient temperature

  • This paper presents a new efficient approach to estimate the S-N type fatigue life assessment curve for S550 high strength steels under low-cycle actions at -60℃. The proposed approach combines a single set of monotonic tension test and one set of fatigue tests to determine the key material damage parameters in the continuum damage mechanics framework. The experimental program in this study examines both the material response under low-cycle actions. The microstructural mechanisms revealed by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) at the low temperature, furthermore, characterizes the effect due to different strain ratios and low temperature on the low-cycle fatigue life of S550 steels. Anchored on the experimental results, this study validates the S-N curve determined from the proposed approach. The S-N type curve determined from one set of fatigue tests and one set of monotonic tension tests estimates the fatigue life of all specimens under different strain ratios satisfactorily.

대형발전기 고정자권선 절연재료의 열 사이클에 의한 열화에 관한 연구 (A study on the heat cycle aging of insulation materials in large generator stator windings)

  • Heat cycle aging of insulating materials in large generator stator winding has been investigated using both on-line and off-line test methods. On this study, principally, off-line test against actual generator in service was carried out to acquire information about polarization index(PI) and dissipation factor, dissipation factor tip-up, maximum partial discharge for the purpose of remnant breakdown voltage and life assessment. It was found from the tests that both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge decreased with the increase of operating hours and starting numbers. It was found from off-line tests that the remnant breakdown voltage had a strong relationship with both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge the remnant breakdown voltage as a results of both operating hours and starting number and the nondestructive tests were proposed as parameters which can predict the remnant lifetime of insulating materials in large generator stator windings.   • LNG 선박용 성형 벨로우즈의 성형방법에 따른 특성을 파악하기 위하여 정적시험과 저주기 피로시험을 실시하였다. 벨로우즈의 규정된 수명 사이클인 8,000회를 실시하여 시험전후의 벨로우즈의 각 산에 걸리는 변형률과 응력을 측정하여 성형방법에 따른 벨로우즈간의 차이를 분석하고 산 별 응력분포를 살펴보았다. 본 저주기 피로시험은 x-y방향의 변위가 가능한 유압시스템의 구조시험장비에 성형 벨로우즈를 장착하고 벨로우즈의 각 산에는 스트레인게이지를 장착하고 멀티레코더를 통하여 데이터를 처리하였다. 이를 통하여 벨로우즈가 성형방법에 따른 수명의 차이가 있는지 살펴보았고, 성형방법에 따른 수명의 차이를 주는 원인을 분석하였다.

혁신주기, 투자주기 그리고 경기변동에 관한 실증분석 (An Empirical Analysis on the Relationship among Innovation Cycle, Investment Cycle and Business Cycle in Frequency Domain)

  • This study is try to do the empirical tests on the relationship among innovation cycle, investment cycle, and business cycle suggested in recent economic growth models. We apply co-spectra analysis to estimate dynamic correlations in the extraction HP filtered variables and first difference filtered variables in our data set. Our empirical results are; (i) an existing asynchronization between innovation cycle and investment cycle, (ii) in the long frequency, an existing positive correlation between innovation cycle and business cycle, (iii) in the short frequency, however, a finding the high negative correlation between the two cycle. Our empirical findings support the recent growth through cycle models and suggest some economic policy implementations for economic stabilization during a severe business cycle.

ETFE 막재에 대한 인장실험과 크리프 실험 (Tensile Test and Creep Tests of ETFE Membrane)

  • 본 논문에서는 세 종류의 ETFE 막재에 대한 단축인장실험을 수행하였다. 이 실험에서 얻은 변형도-변위 곡선을 분석함으로써 항복응력, 두 번째 항복응력, 탄성계수, 두 번째 탄성계수, 그리고 세 번째 탄성계수를 얻게 되었다. 아울러, 탄성 단계와 항복 단계, 소성유동 단계에서 각각 ETFE 막재의 사이클 하중시험을 진행하여, 잔여변형률, 응력 이완, 하중 변화(재하/제하) 중 ETFE 막재의 탄성 변화 등을 알아본다. 재료의 크리프시험에서는 25, 40, 60$^{\circ}C$의 시험온도와 3, 6, 9MPa의 인장 응력 하에서 크리프시험의 시간은 24시간으로 설정하였다.
