  • For the weld quality improvement and the convenient operation of machines, laser vision system can be used to track weld seams on pressure vessels. There are many bad conditions to the weld grooves such as cutting error, gap variation of weld joint, and offset error of center line caused by misalignment. We developed a laser vision seam tracking system which consists of a laser vision sensor, a two axis positioning mechanism and a user interface program running on the Windows system.   • In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of turning process was modelled and the analytic realization of regen-erative chatter mechanism was discussed. In this regard, we have discussed on the comparative assessment of recursive times series modeling algorithms that can represent the machining process and detect the abnormal machining behaviors in precision turning operation. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the malfunction behaviors. For this purpose, new Recursive Extended Instrument Variable Method(REIVM) was adopted for the on-line system identification and monitoring of a machining process. Also, we can apply REIVE algorithms in real process for the detection of chatter frequency and dynamic property and analyze the stability lobe of the system by changing a parameter of cutting dynamics in regenerative chatter mechanics, if it is stable or unstable, Also, The stability lobe of chatter was analysed.

  • This paper presents experimental results to know the charcteristics of machined surface due to cutter runout. Cutter runout is a common but undesirable phenomenon in multi-tooth machining such as end-milling process because it introduces variable chip loading to insert which results in a accelerated tool wear, amplification of force variation and hence enargement vibration amplitude. To develop in-proess cutter runout compensation system, set-up the micro-positoning mechanism which is based on piezoelectric translator embeded in the work holder to manipulate the depth of cut in real-time. And feasibility test of system was done under the various experimental cutting conditions. This results provide lots of information to build-up the precision machining technology.

  • In terms of productivity, the speed of machining process has been increasing in most of engineering part. But the tapping process does not reach at enough level compared with other machining processes because of its complicate cutting mechanism. In the high speed tapping process, the one of important elements is tool monitoring system to prevent tool breakage. This paper describes tool monitoring system by acoustic emission(AE) in the tapping process. We used 2 types of AE sensors in this test. The one is commercial sensor which is used in other machining monitoring system like polishing and the other is a self-fabricated sensor for this test. In this test we purpose to find out the frequency of AE signal in tapping process and verify the possibility of applying AE sensor in in-process tapping monitoring system. Also grasp of characteristic of tapping process by AE signal is handled.

  • Conventional robots actuated by motors with the speed reducer such as harmonic drive had weakness in delivering loads, pressing, grinding, and cutting jobs. To overcome this, the developer a new type of robot actuated by the ball screw. The robot is an articulated shape, which is composed of four axes. The base axis is actuated similarly with conventional robot, but the others are actuated by four bars mechanism composed of the ball screw. We setup the dynamics model of the robot. The robot has parameter uncertainties and nonlinearlity due to the ball screw actuator. To coordinate the robot, we applied sliding-mode control.

  • The hard turning is a turning operation performed in high strength alloy steels (HRC>30) in order to reach surface roughness close to those obtained in grinding. This is possible because of availability of improved tool materials (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride. PCBN), ad more rigid machine tools. According to many previous work of hard turning mechanism, the maximum temperature of cutting can be raised up to 100$0^{\circ}C$. As the heat generation rate is very high, the thermal displacement of tool holder cannot be negligible. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze effects of high heat generation at CBN tool tip to the thermal displacement of a tool holder in hard turning and finally geometric accuracy. The thermal behavior of a CBN tool holder is investigated by numerical simulation and experiment, and the result shows thermal elongation of microns order is possible during hard turning process.

  • This paper presents new skill in tube-mill processing getting the increase in production efficiency and quality in response to the recent request of high grade pipe. In this study, researchers developed the method to improve the precision of pipe and tool life in tube-mill processing. Optimum tool shape is devised by analyzing various simulation and mechanism in cutting process. In order to verify the confidence of the proposed machining technology, it is applied to the real processing machinery in the field.

  • Ceramic materials are classified by oxide, nitride and carbide material and have high brittleness, strength and hardness. Ceramic materials are strong in compression but weak in shearing and tension. This review paper has focused on technology trends and mechanism analysis of ceramics removal machining. The ceramic materials have superior mechanical, physical and chemical properties, but it is very hard to machining and the use of ceramics has been limited because of high strength and brittleness. In this paper, technology trends of ceramic removal-machining was introduced for types of machining technology, abrasive machining, cutting process, laser machining and so on.

  • The purpose of this study si the development of a lathe which can cut any pistons of oval shape with high seed, accuracy and precision by CNC (Computer Numerical Control) method. Yaxis which is the position determinating mechanism with high speed response was added to the CNC lathe and the ovality and profile was cut under the control of C-Y-Z axes at same tile. In the case of ovality of $\Phi$ improved up to 2500rpm(Y axis : 83Hz) by high speed cutting than modeling method. Since a personal computer is used, it is easy to change the shape of piston and can be applied promptly to many types of piston shape by only changing data files.

  • This paper revisited the key advances on System Dynamics modeling about traditional macro-economic models and economic growth structures, and then tries to elaborate a new model based on the endogenous growth theory that incorporates new growth factors, relevant to knowledge/technology as well as the Environment, into traditional growth models. Accordingly, the new model augments the acceleration and multiplier loops and the balancing ones representing market clearing mechanism with a simple numerical example. The authors thus provides macroeconomic System Dynamics analysts with a milestone to model macro-economic structures reflecting on traditional and cutting-edge theories on sustainable economic growth and general equilibrium modeling.
