  • The AC-DC converter, which has three-phase AC power as input and isolated DC power as output is used for the regulated DC power supply of the telecommunication power processing system for several kilowatt class applications. The conventional DC power supply for the telecommunication power system comprises a PWM rectifier with sine-wave shaping input current unity power factor and a DC/DC converter connected to the PWM converter, which obtains DC 48[V]. Since power passes through these two power stage converters, the conversion power loss is difficult to provide high efficiency. To resolve these problems, this paper presents a new PWM rectified as a 1-stage power conversion method. It simulation and experimental results as proved from a Practical point of view that 92.1[%]of conversion efficiency and input current which can meet harmonics regulation of the Class-A in IEC61000-3-3 are achieved.

  • Immune diversification helps protect the host against a myriad of pathogens. CD8+ T cells are essential adaptive immune cells that inhibit the spread of pathogens by inducing apoptosis in infected host cells, ultimately ensuring complete elimination of infectious pathogens and suppressing disease development. Accordingly, numerous studies have been conducted to elucidate the mechanisms underlying CD8+ T cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation into effector and memory cells, and to identify various intrinsic and extrinsic factors regulating these processes. The current knowledge accumulated through these studies has led to a huge breakthrough in understanding the existence of heterogeneity in CD8+ T cell populations during immune response and the principles underlying this heterogeneity. As the heterogeneity in effector/memory phases has been extensively reviewed elsewhere, in the current review, we focus on CD8+ T cells in a "naive" state, introducing recent studies dealing with the heterogeneity of naive CD8+ T cells and discussing the factors that contribute to such heterogeneity. We also discuss how this heterogeneity contributes to establishing the immense complexity of antigen-specific CD8+ T cell response.

  • This paper presents an instantaneous space vector modulated voltage source type three-phase soft-switching PFC rectifier using a single auxiliary resonant DC Link snubber for alternative energy utilizations. in the first place, the operating principle of an active auxiliary resonant DC link snubber circuit is described including its unique features. In the next place, the simulation analysis of three-phase soft-switching PWM rectifier is implemented, and the operating performances or the three-phase voltage-fed PWM rectifier treated here, which can operate under the conditions of sinewave line current shaping and utility power factor are evaluated and discussed on tile basis of this simulation results.

  • The relationship between innovation policies and locational competitiveness has emerged as an important area in the analysis of economic development, reflecting both the centralisation and decentralisation of globalising economic activities. The underlying spatial and institutional components are subject to a pattern of cumulative causation in which strategic interventions of policy actors exercise a decisive role in shaping competitive advantages, while promoting interactions with local and foreign partners both from the private and public sectors. The Singaporean development experience illustrated these strategic interdependencies of innovation policies and locational competitiveness. Based on her role as a manufacturing and service hub, Singapore is viewed as an infrastructural nodal point which is interconnected to global production networks. Paralleling efforts in the domain of technological innovation, Singapore's policies for locational competitiveness aim at an adaptive harmonisation of the needs of international investors with local developmental objectives. This orientation characterises also current efforts in promoting Singapore as a knowledge agglomeration with a distinct science base, expanding R&D operations and an innovation-driven pattern of economic development. In conclusion, the locational rationale of Singapore's innovation policies provides lessons for dealing with the spatial and institutional implications of technological globalisation.

  • This paper analyses the new discipline on state-owned enterprises contained in the recently concluded Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement, and evaluates various factors that influenced the shaping of its specific rules. The new discipline consolidates and strengthens related provisions in current trade regimes, reflects various aspects of trade disputes between China and the US, and adopts, as its general underlying rationale, the principle of competitive neutrality. The new discipline contains elements that may challenge the multilateral trade regime, and may serve as a role model in regulating state-owned enterprises, including subsidies in services trade in other on-going trade negotiations. The new regime makes us think hard about fundamental issues regarding enforcement of competition policy against state-owned enterprises, treatment of non-market economies, and how to deal with effects of subsidies in international trade, bringing competition issues back on the trade agenda.

  • In order to increase the power conversion efficiency and improve the power factor, a modified forward converter is proposed, which adopts a capacitive output filter instead of the inductive output filter of the conventional forward converter. Therefore, the proposed converter has wide input voltage range in opposite to that of the conventional forward converters. Moreover, the proposed converter uses the critical conduction mode for automatic current shaping to improve the power factor. As a result, the proposed converter can achieve quasi-resonant zero-voltage-switching, which can minimize the switching loss of main MOSFET. In addition, the operational principle of the proposed converter is analyzed and the characteristic of the proposed converter is investigated in this paper. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed converter, a prototype of 13W is implemented and the experimental results are discussed in more detail.

  • When Cole Porter wrote the song "Anything Goes" in 1934, he did not include skyscraper examples. The recently completed Chrysler and Empire State buildings followed decades of tall building development in a logical and predictable line. Today, dramatic improvements in materials and methods of analysis, design and fabrication have given architects and engineers freedom to imagine, and contractors to build, towers in configurations never seen before. If writing now, Porter would surely have mentioned such designs to demonstrate anything goes. Or does it? This article explores the possibilities and challenges of tall building structural design through current and proposed projects. Examples include engineering buildings with outward forms that appear structurally unfavorable and taking advantage of load reduction through shaping opportunities.

  • Micro-machining, one of the non-traditional machining techniques, can achieve a wanted shape of the surface using metal dissolution with electrochemical reaction and can be applied to the metal such as high tension, heat resistance and hardened steel. The workpiece dissolves when it is positioned close to the tool electrode in electrolyte and the current is applied. Traditional machining has been used in the industries such as cutting, deburring, drilling and shaping. The aim of this work is to develop Micro-machining techniques for micro shape by establishing appropriate machining parameters of micro-machining
