Navigating Identity: A Qualitative Content Analysis of Related Field Professionals' Views on Arts Education for North Korean Refugee Youth (탈북 청소년 대상 문화예술교육에 대한 질적 내용 분석 연구 - 정체성 형성 과정을 중심으로 -)

  • This research aims to identify current issues of arts education programs which have designed for North Korean Refugee Youth in South Korea and then navigates further steps to better serve the group. The purpose of study also pertains to the '2010 Seoul Agenda: Goals for the Development of Arts Education' announced at the Second World Conference on Arts Education, particularly, to the third Goal indicating how arts education practices can contribute to resolving social and cultural issues and promoting social cohesion and intercultural dialogues (UNESCO, 2010). This research engages with critical theory approach and adopts qualitative content analysis for collected documents and interview data. Based on the findings of this research, interview participants found its need of current arts education program for North Korean refugee youth become more value-driven and participant-centered. Currently, those programs available seem to incline to helping their adjustment to the South Korean society through arts-related activities, such as enhancing Korean language skills and learning Korean culture. Rather, it has been addressed that providing emotional and psychological supports and opportunities to search their own 'voice(s)' should be core objectives of the arts education programs. Moreover, when it is offered, arts educators and administrators need to make sure that participants can feel safe and secure as being present at the space for programs in order to express and encounter their true inner voice(s).

  • The article clarifies the definition and components of the ICT competence of future teachers, justifies the introduction of a motivational-value component. ICT competence of future teachers has a four-component structure: motivational-value, general-use, general pedagogical, subject-pedagogical components. The levels (reproductive, productive, creative), criteria and indicators of the formation of ICT-competence of students of a pedagogical college are determined, the content of these levels (reproductive, productive, creative) is disclosed, respectively.

Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Chocolate with Mugunghwa (Hibiscus syriacus L.) (무궁화 초콜릿의 품질특성 및 항산화활성)

  • This study was conducted to determine the mixing conditions for Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate depending on different addition ratios of Hibiscus syriacus L. and examine functionality in order to use Hibiscus syriacus L., which has excellent functionality and symbolizes Korea. To accomplish this, Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate was manufactured by adding 0%, 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10% of Hibiscus syriacus L. powder from the 'Samchulli' (Hibiscus syriacus 'Samchulli', which has reddish pink flower with red eye spot: SKK 14-2-72) variety to a coverture of white chocolate after which the antioxidant activity and quality characteristics were analyzed. As the amount of Hibiscus syriacus L. powder added to the chocolate increased, the chocolate color became darker, the pH decreased, and the sugar content and hardness increased. As a result of the sensory evaluation, the degree of preference increased as the amount of added Hibiscus syriacus L. powder increased to 7.5%. The degree of preference for color and flavor was the highest in the 5% added group, but the overall preference was 7.5% added chocolate. These findings demonstrate that adding Hibiscus syriacus L. powder to chocolate can increase chocolate functionality and preference and that there is a high possibility of Hibiscus syriacus L. chocolate development.

Early Childhood Teachers' Content Knowledge on Movement Education

  • The purpose of the study was to examine early childhood teachers' content knowledge of movement education. The subjects, 60 early childhood teachers, were asked to draw concept maps about early childhood movement education. Their concept maps were analyzed in terms of superordinate and subordinate concepts by contents and frequency. The results were as follows. First, 263 superordinate concepts were shown, and they were categorized into 10 representative terms (body movement/health, music, expression, movement type, movement element, games, integration/arts, social studies, tool/instrument, and math/science). Second, 2,186 subordinate concepts were shown, and running, movement, jumping, musical instrument, and expression were frequently shown. In conclusion, early childhood teachers' content knowledge of movement education were various but insufficient in aspect of its systematic organization.

Quality Characteristics of Muffin with Added Grape Powder (포도분말을 첨가한 머핀의 품질특성)

  • This study investigated grape powder substituted for wheat flour in muffin recipes with the amounts of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20%. Grape powder consisted of 6.76% of moisture content, 4.63% of crude protein, 4.82% of crude fat and 4.16% of crude ash. DPPH radical scavenging activity is 68.79%, total phenol content is 205.79. Specific loaf volume have decreased as the grape powder content increased. Baking loss have increased as the grape powder content increased. Moisture and brix have increased as the grape powder content increased. pH have increased as the grape powder content decreased. Chromaticity measurement result showed that the 'L' and 'b' value of muffins decreased as grape powder content increased, whereas 'a' value increased. The texture measurement result showed that the hardness, gumminess and chewiness of muffins increased as the grape powder content increased, whereas springiness decreased. Cohesiveness did not show any considerable differences between muffins. Overall preference scores showed high overall acceptability for the muffins made with 10% grape powder.

  • Despite continuous efforts to redraw the boundaries between art and culture, the conventional concept of originality has persisted in approaches to the practice of contemporary art. In the discourse of originality, various forms of lesser arts that employ the method of replication have been referred to as kitsch, or "rear-guard," the opposite of avant-garde. This categorization points to the contested issue regarding the oppositional relation between modernism and mass culture. With its easily accessible content and financial affordability, mass culture has become both an irresistible attraction and a most powerful threat to modernism. This threat has instigated a discursive system that has situated mass culture as a cultural other of modernism. Taking the marginalized category of kitsch as the area of contention, this paper examines a discursive repression of kitsch. It analyzes the conceptual framework that defends originality and autonomy in art and, conversely, degrades kitsch as an inferior and dangerous cultural category. Greenberg'S concept of kitsch as a by-product of industrialization evolved into the criticism that advocates the autonomy of art. The Frankfurt School scholars, particularly Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer, practiced comparable cultural critiques. Focusing on mass culture such as film, radio, and television, instead of art works, they critically analyzed the system of mass culture and theorized the negative implications of the ubiquitous presence of kitsch. Some critics, on the other hand, perceived the growth of mass culture as opening possibilities in cultural development. Walter Benjamin and Harold Rosenberg asserted the socio-cultural dynamics of mass culture underlining the potential for continual transformation in reality and in the subject. They acknowledged that technological advances changed the condition of creation and enabled unmediated interactions between media. By scrutinizing conflicting views on kitsch, this paper intends to reassess arts that draw "the forces of the outside."

  • Local culture plays a role in enhancing the cultural competence of citizens by approaching branding from the perspective of brandization by implying value amid changes in local traditions and modern times. Therefore, this study established a research model with brand loyalty, brand recognition, perceived quality, and brand image as dependent variables in order to analyze the impact of local cultural characteristics on cultural brand asset components. We tested the research hypothesis and analyzed it, As local cultural characteristics affect cultural brand asset components, it was found that it is necessary to change the perception of local culture and promote traditional culture. In addition, Yeoju City needs to plan a festival that combines tradition and local culture through the convergence of content and cultural policy for the recognition and brand image of the Yeoju Yeongneung, a World Heritage Site, and it is urgent to change the direction of citizens. In addition, it was found that it is desirable to expand research on the formation of cultural brand assets according to local cultural affinity.

  • As technology advances, various applications linked to the music industry are becoming popular through new media. There have been many changes in the music market. Beyond the existing music market, where music copyright and performance rights were the center of the music business, we are unifying and operating communication channels that connect artists and fans, such as investment products derived from music copyrights. The technology that connects the fandom with additional business digital content has transformed into global platforms such as HYBE Entertainment's and YG Entertainment's Weverse, as well as SM Entertainment's Bubble. In addition, various national support projects to build a 5G MEC (MobileEdge Computing) environment to quickly respond to the rapidly changing 5G industry ecosystem are supporting for the immersive content demonstration, immersive content testing, and technical analysis, we are laying the groundwork to efficiently respond to the ever-expanding metaverse content market. Technology is changing dramatically. Therefore, we would like to study to changes in the music market brought about by technology and suggest strategies for a new era in the music business.

  • The article theoretically substantiated, developed and practically implemented a structural and functional model of the formation of ICT competence, taking into account interdisciplinary integration, defines the pedagogical conditions that contribute to the formation of ICT competence: interdisciplinary integration as a basis for building an interdisciplinary course, the content of which is aimed at the formation of ICT competence; the use of IEE, including information, didactic, technological components as a basis for the formation of ICT competence; integration of formal, non-formal and informal education for the implementation the integrity of the acquired knowledge, skills, experience as the basis for the formation of the ICT competence of teachers; creation and use of a set of tasks (educational (UZ), educational and methodological (UMP), educational and professional (UPZ)) as special tools for the formation of ICT competence.

  • In order to create an organizational culture that prevents women's career breaks and promotes economic activities, this study aimed at developing educational content for workplace culture improvement for both male and female workers working at small and medium-sized enterprises in Jeollanam-do. The core content composition and content design specifically consider the characteristics of Jeollanam-do based on an advisory meeting of the field experts and researchers to ensure the on-site utilization of the content and the validity and consistency of the teaching content. The educational content is divided into three areas: understanding, effectiveness, and the implementation of a gender-sensitive work-life balance organizational culture. The aim of the content is for all employees to understand the meaning of work-life balance and to improve the organizational culture of their company from the perspective of individuals, families, companies, and society. In particular, the intention was to personally identify and implement measures to improve a gender-equal work-life balance, not only at work, but also with regard to domestic labor and leisure time. Furthermore, the content is presented from a gender-sensitive perspective that encompasses diversity, systems, and programs targeting women, men, single people, married people, young people, the elderly, and people with disabilities - all these groups are explained as examples. The content emphasizes that we should all actively participate in improving the organizational culture of our companies. In addition, the Women's New Work Center should seek ways to increase the motivation for the voluntary participation by companies and strengthen the expertise of instructors in work-life balance education.
