View synthesis in uncalibrated images (임의 카메라 구조에서의 영상 합성)

  • Virtual view synthesis is essential for 3DTV systems, which utilizes the motion parallax cue. In this paper, we propose a multi-step view synthesis algorithm to efficiently reconstruct an arbitrary view from limited number of known views of a 3D scene. We describe an efficient image rectification procedure which guarantees that an interpolation process produce valid views. This rectification method can deal with all possible camera motions. The idea consists of using a polar parameterization of the image around the epipole. Then, to generate intermediate views, we use an efficient dense disparity estimation algorithm considering features of stereo image pairs. Main concepts of the algorithm are based on the region dividing bidirectional pixel matching. The estimated disparities are used to synthesize intermediate view of stereo images. We use computer simulation to show the result of the proposed algorithm.

Intonational Realization and Perception of English Noun Phrases and Compound Nouns (영어 명사구와 복합명사의 억양 실현 양상과 지각)

  • This paper attempts to examine the accent implementation and perception of noun phrases and compound nouns in English sentences, arguing that primary stress of noun phrase and compound noun is realized in relative prominence in intonation. The production test examines how the stress patterns of the noun phrases and compound nouns are realized in intonation of the English native speakers' utterances. The perception test investigates English and Korean listeners' comprehension of the intonation of the noun phrases and compound nouns. And the results of this experimental study show that speakers and listeners produce and perceive the primary stress as a relatively prominent accent even if in contrast of English listeners, Korean learners have difficulty in using the cue of pitch accent location and figuring out compound nouns and noun phrases.

Listener's Age Estimation by Prosody Manipulation (운율 변조 양상에 따른 청자의 연령 지각)

  • The normal aging process on speech production and these changes are perceived by listeners. This study examined whether age perception changed under various conditions of prosodic manipulations in normal listeners, comparing the prosodic changes according to age and sex in adulthood. The older and younger voices were resynthesized by manipulation of the speaking rate and pitch to shift the perceived age of the groups toward each other. Two-way repeated ANOVA were conducted to determine if the prosodic type of resynthesized cue resulted in a significant shift in perceived age of young and old voices. The manipulation of the speaking rate resulted in a significant shift in perceived age for the older and younger groups. A significant shift in age estimates was not observed for the younger male group when pitch was manipulated. There were significant gender-by-age group interactions for prosodic manipulation type. Age-related changes in the prosodic properties of speech may ultimately influence speech perception.

Programming Characteristics of the Multi-bit Devices Based on SONOS Structure (SONOS 구조를 갖는 멀티 비트 소자의 프로그래밍 특성)

  • In this paper, the programming characteristics of the multi-bit devices based on SONOS structure are investigated. Our devices have been fabricated by 0.35 $\mu\textrm{m}$ complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process with LOCOS isolation. In order to achieve the multi-bit operation per cell, charges must be locally frapped in the nitride layer above the channel near the source-drain junction. Programming method is selected by Channel Hot Electron (CUE) injection which is available for localized trap in nitride film. To demonstrate CHE injection, substrate current (Isub) and one-shot programming curve are investigated. The multi-bit operation which stores two-bit per cell is investigated. Also, Hot Hole(HH) injection for fast erasing is used. The fabricated SONOS devices have ultra-thinner gate dielectrics and then have lower programming voltage, simpler process and better scalability compared to any other multi-bit storage Flash memory. Our programming characteristics are shown to be the most promising for the multi-bit flash memory.

A Study on Ultrasonic Technique for Measuring Gas Temperature (기체온도 측정을 위한 초음파 계측에 관한 연구)

  • Measuring temperature with ultrasonic wave apparatus is desirable in the cue of gas below $300^{\circ}$ because of the fact that the temperature of gas is the function of only sound velocity. In this study, being used a heatable wind channel and a blower. the variation of temperature is observed in accordance with flow rate(air velocity). The frequency modulation method is used to measure the temperature which is varying in hot air flow up to $100^{\circ}$. The length changed in the position of ultrasonic sensors is considered. Also. the effects of air velocity at the same temperature and various facing angles of ultrasonic sensors are considered. As a result of this study. it has been found that the temperature in gas flow is correctly measured regardless of both the distance of ultrasonic sensors and the variation of air velocity. and that there is just a little influence of facing angles.

  • 공동주의는 사회적 개체간의 지각적 경험을 공유하는 상호작용과정으로, 최근 인간-로봇 상호작용연구와 관련해서 로봇 공학자의 관심이 커지고 있다. 발달심리학에 기초한 기존의 developmental robotics의 접근과는 달리, 본 연구에서는 사전단서 패러다임을 이용해서 목표물, 단서, 주의반응 간의 삼자관계를 수학적으로 개념화하였다. 간단한 목표물 탐사과제를 통해서 계산모형의 수행을 검증하였다. 연구결과에서는 컴퓨터 시스템의 시각적 주의 모형이 사용자가 지시하는 단서(손가락 지시)의해 목표물(이온음료)을 주의를 할당하는 것을 보였다. 본 연구는 심리학에서 연구된 사전단서 패러다임을 인간-로봇 상호작용에 적용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • We deal with the headway which effects on the performance of the PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system and the system safety. The headway, time between passage of one vehicle and the next, is one of the important factors to assess the line capacity, which has a cue to solve the problem of the congestion in public transportation. To decide the headway there are many important factors, especially such as the failure vehicle deceleration rate, the following simple analytical equation can be made to assess the relation between the line speed and the minimum headway. In this paper we employ a numerical analysis method using a simple analytical equations for the evaluation of the minimum headway and show simple simulation results.

An Efficient Time-Frequency Representation for Parametric-Based Audio Object Coding

  • Object-based audio coding can provide new music applications with interactivity. To efficiently compress a lot of target audio objects, a subband-based parametric coding scheme has been adopted for MPEG spatial audio object coding. In this letter, the time-frequency (T/F) subband analysis structure is investigated. A reconfigured T/F structure is also proposed to enhance the generating performance of sound scenes such as 'karaoke' and 'solo' play in interactive music scenarios. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the proposed scheme remarkably improves the SNR and sound quality.

  • A HMD type multi-focus 3D display system is developed and proof about satisfaction of eye accommodation is tested. Four LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) and a DMD are used to generate four parallax images at single eye and any mechanical part is not included in this system. The multi-focus means the ability of monocular depth cue to various depth levels. By achieving multi-focus function, we developed a 3D display system for only one eye, which can satisfy the accommodation to displayed virtual objects within defined depth. We could achieve a result that focus adjustment is possible at 5 step depths in sequence within 2m depth for only one eye. Additionally, the change level of burring depending on the focusing depth is tested by captured photos and moving pictures of video camera and several subjects. And the HMD type multi-focus 3D display can be applied to a monocular 3D display and monocular AR 3D display.

SUMOylation Code in Cancer Development and Metastasis

  • Protein modification by small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) controls diverse cellular functions of protein targets including transcription factors and coregulators mainly in the nucleus and participates in maintaining cellular homeostasis. In addition, SUMO system plays important roles in DNA damage repair and maintaining genome integrity. Thus, in some cases, the loss of control on SUMOylation or deSUMOylation processes causes a defect in maintaining homeostasis and hence gives a cue to cancer development. Furthermore, recent study showed that SUMO system is also involved in cancer metastasis. In this review, we will summarize and discuss the possible role of SUMO system in cancer development and metastasis.
