  • There is thixo-extrusion to form high strength aluminum alloy. But, it is a problem that grains become grain coarsening during reheating process because the alloy was exposed at high temperature. In order to solve grain growth during reheating process, calcium was added in Al-Zn-Mg alloys. Primary a grain sizes of semi-solid Al-Zn-Mg-(0, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.9, wt.%)Ca were measured with image analyzer after reheating. Measured primary a grain sizes were applied to LSW(Lifshitz-Slyozov and Wagner) equation to check the effect of Ca on grain coarsening. Coarsening rate constant K values of semi-solid Al-Zn-Mg-(0, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.9, wt.%)Ca alloys were $371\;mm^3s^{-1}$, $247\;mm^3s^{-1}$, $198\;mm^3s^{-1}$ and $166 mm^3s^{-1}$, respectively. As increasing calcium content, K value decreased which means grains are refined. Also, grains of calcium addition were more spherical than that of calcium free.

  • Generation methods of data cube have been studied for many years in data warehouse which supports decision making using stored data. There are two previous studies, one is multi-way array algorithm and the other is H-cubing algorithm which is based on the hyper-tree. The multi-way array algorithm stores all aggregation data in arrays, so if the base data is increased, the size of memory is also grow. The H-cubing algorithm which is based on the hyper-tree stores all tuples in one tree so the construction cost is increased. In this paper, we present an efficient data cube generation method based on hash table using weight mapping table and record hash table. Because the proposed method uses a hash table, the generation cost of data cube is decreased and the memory usage is also decreased. In the performance study, we shows that the proposed method provides faster search operation time and make data cube generation operate more efficiently.

  • Data cube, which is multi-dimensional data model, have been successfully applied in many cases of multi-dimensional data analysis, and is still being researched to be applied in data stream analysis. Data stream is being generated in real-time, incessant, immense, and volatile manner. The distribution characteristics of data arc changing rapidly due to those characteristics, so the primary rule of handling data stream is to check once and dispose it. For those characteristics, users are more interested in high support attribute values observed rather than the entire attribute values over data streams. This paper propose dynamic data cube for applying data cube to data stream environment. Dynamic data cube specify user's interested area by the support ratio of attribute value, and dynamically manage the attribute values by grouping each other. By doing this it reduce the memory usage and process time. And it can efficiently shows or emphasize user's interested area by increasing the granularity for attributes that have higher support. We perform experiments to verify how efficiently dynamic data cube works in limited memory usage.

  • Magnesium diboride ($MgB_2$) is an inexpensive and simple superconductor. This material was first synthesized and its structure confirmed in 1953 but its superconducting properties were not discovered until 2001 when they caused great excitement. In this study, superconducting $MgB_2$ thin films on the r-$Al_{2}O_3$ substrates have been grown by the combination of radio frequency magnetron sputtering of B and thermal evaporation of Mg. The deposition conditions were varied by changing deposition rate. Before the co-deposition of Mg and B, the deposition rates of each element have been measured separately. The $MgB_2$ layers had 400nm in thickness and superconducting transition temperatures have been measured around $\sim$38.6K. Superconducting properties have been measured by PPMS, XRD, and SEM.

  • The twisted cube has received great attention as an interconnection network of parallel systems because it has several superior properties, especially in diameter, to the hypercube. It was recently known that, for even m, a mesh of size $2{\times}2^m$ can be embedded into a twisted cube with dilation 1 and expansion 1 and a mesh of size $4{\times}2^m$ with dilation 1 and expansion 2 [Lai and Tsai, 2008]. However, as we know, it has been a conjecture that a mesh with more than eight rows and columns can be embedded into a twisted cube with dilation 1. In this paper, we show that a mesh of size $2^n{\times}2^m$ can be embedded into a twisted cube with dilation 1 and expansion $2^{n-1}$ for even m and with dilation 1 and expansion $2^n$ for odd m where $1{\leq}n{\leq}m$.

  • The 2009 revised national mathematics curriculum have inserted mathematical 'linking cube' activities in the 6th grade math classes to improve students' spatial problem solving abilities and communication skills. However, we found that it was hard for teachers to teach problem solving and communication skills due to the absence of mathematical way of representing linking cubes in the classroom. In this paper, we propose 3D 'turtle representation system' as teaching and learning tools for linking cube activities. After using turtle representation system for linking cube activities, teachers responded that turtle representation system is a valuable problem solving and communication tools for the linking cube mathematics classes. We conclude that turtle representation system is a well designed teaching and learning tools for linking cube activities, and there are lots of educational meanings in the 3D turtle representation system.

  • The crossed cube has received great attention because it has equal or superior properties to the hypercube that is widely known as a versatile parallel processing system. It has been known that a mesh of size $2{\times}2^m$ can be embedded into a crossed cube with dilation 1 and expansion 1 and a mesh of size $4{\times}2^m$ with dilation 1 and expansion 2. However, as we know, it has been a conjecture that a mesh with more than eight rows and columns can be embedded into a crossed cube with dilation 1. In this paper, we show that a mesh of size $2^n{\times}2^m$ can be embedded into a crossed cube with dilation 1 and expansion $2^{n-1}$ where $n{\geq}1$ and $m{\geq}3$.

  • This study measured the radio environment of 10 domestic institutions with CubeSat ground stations for 24 hours in three frequency bands (VHF/UHF/S-band) allocated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The impact of the RF environment around the ground stations on CubeSat downlink frequencies was analysed and compared with acceptable interference noise requirements from the CubeSat RF link. The findings indicate that not only the selection of downlink frequency but also the configuration of RF communication link design and ground station system of CubeSat should consider the S-band RF environment around the ground station due to the presence of several wireless devices.

  • The mission objective of STEP Cube Lab. (Cube Laboratory for Space Technology Experimental Project) classified as a pico-class satellite is to verify the technical effectiveness of payloads such as variable emittance radiator, SMA washer, oscillating heat pipe and MEMS based solid propellant thruster researched at domestic universities. In addition, the MEMS concentrating photovoltaic power system and the non-explosive holding and separation mechanism with the advantages of high constraint force and low shock level will be developed as the primary payloads for on-orbit verification. In this study, the feasibility of the mission actualization has been confirmed by the preliminary system design.

  • Physico-chemical changes caused by salting Korean radish cubes (for Kakdugi) with sodium chloride solution were investigated. Two-centimter cubes of Korean radish were soaked in saline solution of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 percent concentration. Optimum salinity, 3% as determined by taste, was reached in six hours at 5% strength, two hours in 10%, one hour at 15% and within one hour at concentration of 15% plus. Radish cubes salted in 5, 10. 15, 20 and 25% sodium chloride solution in a cube/solution weight ratio of 1:1 decreased in volume from 7.6 to 11.2% after one hour, and from 11.2 to 17.9% after six hours. Decrease in moisture content was from 83.0 to 75.9% in one hour and from 74.5 to 68.5% after six hours. $Potassium\;ion(K^+)$, $calcium\;ion(Ca^{2+})$ and $magnesium\;ion(Mg^{2+})$ content was significantly decreased by salting, but $sodium\;ion(Na^+)$ content greatly increased. In addition, salting caused firmness of the cubes to decrease, and cell shapes to shrink by plasmolysis.
