  • In this work, we propose a simple but efficient method to design a target temperature trajectory for pulling speed tracking control of the crystal grower in the Czochralski crystallization process. In the suggested method, the model predictive control strategy is used to incorporate the complex dynamic effect of the heater temperature on the pulling speed into the temperature trajectory design quantitatively. The feedforward trajectories designed by the proposed method were implemented on 200 mm and 300 mm silicon crystal growers in the commercial Czochralski process. The application results have demonstrated its excellent and consistent tracking performance of pulling speed along whole bulk crystal growth.

  • Layer crystallization process was tested for the separation(or concentration) of cesium and strontium fission products in a LiCl waste salt generated from an electrolytic reduction process of a spent oxide fuel. In a crystallization process, impurities (CsCl and $SrCl_2$) are concentrated in a small fraction of the LiCl salt by the solubility difference between the melt phase and the crystal phase. Based on the phase diagram of LiCl-CsCl-$SrCl_2$ system, the separation possibility by using crystallization was determined and the molten salt temperature profile during layer crystallization operation was predicted by using mathematical calculation. In the layer crystallization process, the crystal growth rate strongly affects the crystal structure and therefore the separation efficiency. In the conditions of about 20-25 l/min cooling air flow rate and less than 0.2g/min/$cm^2$ crystal flux, the separation efficiency of both CsCl and $SrCl_2$ showed about 90% by the layer crystallization process, assuming a LiCl salt reuse rate of 90wt%.

  • The crystallization mechanism of an amorphous $Bi_{2}$$Sr_{2}$$Ca_{2 x}$$Cd_{x}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{y}$ phase were studied from the relations between crystallization and volume changes by dilatometry. Further, the effect of addition of CdO on the crystallization mechanism and superconductivity was discussed. The shrinkage of the amorphous $Bi_{2}$$Sr_{2}$$Ca_{2 x}$$Cd_{x}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{y}$ occurred with the crystallization of $Bi_{2}$$Sr_{2}$Cu$O_{6}$ phase decrease with increasing CdO content with a minimum at x=0.4. Better superconductivity was obtained in the specimens formation less amount of the$Bi_{2}$$Sr_{2}$Cu$O_{6}$ phase during the crystallization process.

  • The main objective of this study is to suggest a new assessment method of the influence of weathering due to salt crystallization on the engineering property of rock. For this purpose, various sources of salt and salt crystallization were investigated, and artificially accelerated weathering tests were carried out. In natural envionment, weathering rate is very slow and weathering process involves complex mechanisms. Therefore artificial weathering test is essential for systematic analysis. Arificial weathering test is defined as test which controls weathering rate and agents by controlling arificial environmental condition. In this study, salt crystallization test was selected among various artificial weathering test methods, for its important role in weathering. Change of various stone properties were detexted. The change of physical properties by salt crystallization were observed as follows : 72% in Brazilian tensile strength and 72% in Slake durability. These results explain the importance of salt crystallization in the mechanical behaviour and properties of stone.

  • We studied laser crystallization of amorphous silicon films prepared at ultra low temperatures ($<150^{\circ}C$). Amorphous silicon films having a low content of hydrogen were deposited by using catalytic chemical vapor deposition method. Influence of process parameters on the hydrogen content was investigated. Laser crystallization was performed dispensing with the preliminary dehydrogenation process. Crystallization took place at a laser energy density value as low as $70\;mJ/cm^2$, and the grain size increased with increasing the laser energy. The ELA crystallization of Catalytic CVD a-Si film is a promising candidate for Poly-Si TFT in active-matrix flexible display on plastic substrates.

  • LAS (lithium aluminosilicate) sol was synthesized using the hydrolysis-condensation reaction of TEOS, chelated Al(OBus)3 and LiNO3 with H2O in alcohol (ethanol+2-propanol) medium. Lowering Li content by a factor of 1/2 significantly enhanced densification and retarded the crystallization of LAS gel by ~30$0^{\circ}C$. Dense LAS specimen with essentially pore-free microstructure was obtained by sintering the sol-gel derived gel at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 h and annealing at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Similary, a mixed colloidal processing was attempted as a convenient, alternative route for the fabrication of dense LAS sintered body. The $\beta$-spodumene seeding (~0.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) in the sol-gel derived LAS modified the sequence of phase transformations and lowered the temperature of crystallization by ~12$0^{\circ}C$. Combining the epitaxial seeding with the sol-gel process, we could lower the crystallization temperature to the sintering temperature range (~80$0^{\circ}C$) and, demonstrate a possibility of making the viscous sintering/crystallization as a continuous as a continuous unit process.

  • In present work, amorphous TiCuNi powders were fabricated by mechanical alloying process. Amorphization and crystallization behaviors of the TiCuNi powders during high-energy ball milling and subsequent microstructure changes were studied by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. TEM samples were prepared by the focused ion beam technique. The morphology of powders prepared with different milling times was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscope and optical microscope. The powders developed a fine, layered, homogeneous structure with milling times. The crystallization behavior showed that glass transition, $T_g$, onset crystallization, $T_x$, and super cooled liquid range ${\Delta}T=T_x-T_g$ were 628, 755 and 127K, respectively. The as-prepared amorphous TiCuNi powders were consolidated by spark plasma sintering process. Full densified TiCuNi samples were successfully produced by the spark plasma sintering process. Crystallization of the MA powders happened during sintering at 733K.
