Yellow phosphor dispersed color conversion glasses are promising phosphor materials for white LED applications because of their good thermal durability, chemical stability, and anti-ultraviolet property. Six color conversion glasses were prepared with high Tg and low Tg specimens of glass. Luminous efficacy, luminance, CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) chromaticity, CCT (Correlated Color Temperature), and CRI (Color Rendering Index) of the color conversion glasses were analyzed according to the PL spectrum. Color conversion glasses with high Tg glass frit, sintered at higher temperature, showed better luminous properties than did color conversion glasses with low Tg glass frit. The characteristics of the color conversion glass depended on the glass composition rather than on the sintering temperature. The XRD peaks of the YAG phosphor disappeared in the color conversion glass with major components of $B_2O_3$-ZnO-$SiO_2$-CaO and, in the XRD results, new crystalline peaks of $BaSi_2O_5$ appeared in the color conversion glass with major components of $Bi_2O_3$-ZnO-$B_2O_3$-MgO. The characteristics of CIE chromaticity, CCT, and the CRI of low Tg color conversion glasses showed worse color properties than those of high Tg color conversion glasses. However, these color characteristics of low Tg glasses were improved by thickness variation. So color conversion glasses with good characteristics of both luminous and color properties were attained.
Optical resonances of metallic or dielectric nanoantennas enable to effectively convert free-propagating electromagnetic waves to localized electromagnetic fields and vice versa. Plasmonic resonances of metal nanoantennas extremely modify the local density of optical states beyond the optical diffraction limit and thus facilitate highly-efficient light-emitting, nonlinear signal conversion, photovoltaics, and optical trapping. The leaky-mode resonances, or termed Mie resonances, allow dielectric nanoantennas to have a compact size even less than the wavelength scale. The dielectric nanoantennas exhibiting low optical losses and supporting both electric and magnetic resonances provide an alternative to their metallic counterparts. To extend the utility of metal and dielectric nanoantennas in further applications, e.g. metasurfaces and metamaterials, it is required to understand and engineer their scattering characteristics. At first, we characterize resonant plasmonic antenna radiations of a single-crystalline Ag nanowire over a wide spectral range from visible to near infrared regions. Dark-field optical microscope and direct far-field scanning measurements successfully identify the FP resonances and mode matching conditions of the antenna radiation, and reveal the mutual relation between the SPP dispersion and the far-field antenna radiation. Secondly, we perform a systematical study on resonant scattering properties of high-refractive-index dielectric nanoantennas. In this research, we examined Si nanoblock and electron-beam induced deposition (EBID) carbonaceous nanorod structures. Scattering spectra of the transverse-electric (TE) and transverse-magnetic (TM) leaky-mode resonances are measured by dark-field microscope spectroscopy. The leaky-mode resonances result a large scattering cross section approaching the theoretical single-channel scattering limit, and their wide tuning ranges enable vivid structural color generation over the full visible spectrum range from blue to green, yellow, and red. In particular, the lowest-order TM01 mode overcomes the diffraction limit. The finite-difference time-domain method and modal dispersion model successfully reproduce the experimental results.
The PVP-based solid dispersion systems (SDs) containing lovastatin (LOS) and solubilizers (sodium lauryl sulfate, tween 80 and oleic acid) were prepared to enhance dissolution rate of practically water insoluble LOS using solvent evaporation method. Two different organic cosolvents either acetone/ethanol or acetonitrile/ethanol were used for the preparation of SDs. The LOS contents were highly decreased when acetone/ethanol cosolvents were used. The decrease of LOS contents was not caused by acetonitrile or acetone, based on HPLC data. The surface morphology as investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and angle of repose as an index of flowability of SDs were highly dependent on the type and amount of solubilizers used. Based on differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray powder diffraction data, the SDs made crystalline LOS into amorphous structure or partially eutectic mixtures. The simultaneous use of the solubilizers in SDs was also useful to increase dissolution rate of LOS in gastric or intestinal fluid. The SDs containing solubilizers reached 76% and 60% in gastric and intestinal fluid, respectively but the commercial tablet gave only less than 4%. These solubilizers in SDs could be also applicable for enhancing dissolution and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.
The Buseok pluton in the Yeongju Batholith is a comagmatic plutonic rocks which haveconcentrically compositional zoning. The lithofacies of the Buseok pluton comprise hornblende biotite tonalite in the southern part of the pluton, porphyritic and equigranular biotite granodiorite in the northern part and biotite granite in the north-central part. The compositional variations change gradually with continuity both within and between the lithofacies. The concentrically zoned pattern is relatively mafic rocks composed of high-temperature mineral assemblages in margin of the southern part, passing inward and northward gradually to more felsic rock in core of the north-central part. Changes in the textures and microstructures, as well as in the mineral content, take place between rock types of the plutons. Darker colored, generally coarse-grained, well foliated tonalite pass inward to light colored, coarse-grained, poorly foliated granodiorite, and finally give way to lighter colored, medium-grained, nearly nonfoliated granite. The foliation are best developed in the marginal part of the tonalite. Here, the regional myolitic foliation in the tonalite is steep northward and parallels to its southeastern contact with the country rock, but the magmatic foliation from disc-shaped mafic microgranitoid enclaves is subvertical and parallels the contacts with the country rock. As the tonalite approaches biotite granite in composition, the foliation is indistinct. Modal and chemical data for the pluton show quantitative compositional variation from the margin of the southern part to the core of the north-central part. Quartz and K-feldspar increase toward the core of the pluton, whereas hornblende, biotite and color index decrease. /Abundances of $SiO_2$and $K_2O$$_2$O increase toward the core according to the variation in quartz and K-feldspar, whereas those of MnO, CaO, $TiO_2$, $Fe_2O_3$, MgO and $P_2O_5$ decrease corresponding to the variation in mafic and accessaries. The compositional zonation resulted from fractional crystallization involving downward settling of earlier crystals, accompanied by upward movement of melt and volatiles, and followed by accessary marginal accretion of crystalline material in the magma to the marginal part. Although a little crustal contamination by the wall rock is recognized from the isotope data, the contamination is not only dominated over but also appropriate for forming the compositional variation in the pluton.
The novel Aloe gels were prepared with dewatering and impregnation by soaking (DIS) processing of Aloe vera leaf slice at four different temperatures (25, 35, 45 and $55^{\circ}C$), using dehydration solution of 40% (w/v) polyethylene glycol (PEG4000). The PEG-impregnation to Aloe vera leaf slice during DIS was observed depending on immersion temperature, and the PEG-impregnated Aloe vera gel (PEG-i-AVG) obtained was characterized using $^1H$ NMR, FT-IR, GPC, XRD and TGA. The PEG-i-AVG had the higher levels of Aloe bioactives (glucomannan and O-acetyl contents) and better quality indices by $^1H$ NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy than those of native Aloe gel. Also, the obtained Aloe gel maintained the bimodal patterns in higher molecular weight region by GPC indicating no degradation of polysaccharide from native Aloe gel. The result observed by SEM confirmed a surface modification by forming the porous structure, and TGA result exhibited better thermal stability than that of native Aloe gel. XRD result revealed that the crystalline structure in Aloe gel was led by incorporation of PEG. Significant decrease of %insolubility and high enhancement of water solubility index were observed, respectively, and highly ordered conformation such as a helix structure was also indicated by Congo red reaction. We concluded that the modification effect for enhancing function of native Aloe gel was successfully obtained by DIS process using PEG as a dehydrating agent. These results suggested that this DIS process had a high potential for developing a new minimally processed product from Aloe vera leaf.
[ $Al_2TiO_5$ ]has a high refractive index and good solubility of the chromophore in the $Al_2TiO_5$ lattice, which allows this structure to be a good candidate for the development of new ceramic pigments. However, pure $Al_2TiO_5$ is well known to decompose on firing at $900{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$. However, this process can be inhibited by the incorporation of certain metal cations into its crystalline lattice. In this study, the synthesis of gray ceramic pigment was performed by doping cobalt on the $Al_2TiO_5$ crystal structure. The $Al_2TiO_5$ was synthesized using $Al_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$, and doped with $Co_3O_4$ as a chromophore material. In order to prevent the thermal decomposition during the cooling procedure, MgO was added to samples by 0.05 mole, 0.1 mole, and 0.15 mole as a stabilizer. The samples were fired at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and cooled naturally. The crystal structure, solubility limit, and color of the synthesized pigment were analyzed using XRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV, and UV-vis. $Al_2O_3$ was available for the formation of $CoAl_2O_4$, which should also be considered in order to explain the small amount of this phase detected in the sample with the higher $Co^{2+}$ content (${\geq}$ 0.03 mole). It was found that the solubility limit of $Co^{2+}$ in the $Al_2TiO_5$ crystal was 0.02 mole% through an analysis of Raman spectroscopy. Through the addition of a pigment with 0.02 mole% of $Co^{2+}$ to lime-barium glaze, stabilized gray color pigments with 66.54, -2.35, and 4.68 as CIE-$L^*a^*b^*$ were synthesized.

In this paper, $Al_2O_3$ film deposited by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) with diluted $NH_4OH$ instead of $H_2O$ was suggested for passivation layer and anti-reflection (AR) coating of the p-type crystalline Si (c-Si) solar cell application. It was confirmed that the deposition rate and refractive index of $Al_2O_3$ film was proportional to the $NH_4OH$ concentration. $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with 5 % $NH_4OH$ has the greatest negative fixed oxide charge density ($Q_f$), which can be explained by aluminum vacancies ($V_{Al}$) or oxygen interstitials ($O_i$) under O-rich condition. $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with $NH_4OH$ 5 % condition also shows lower interface trap density ($D_{it}$) distribution than those of other conditions. At $NH_4OH$ 5 % condition, moreover, $Al_2O_3$ film shows the highest excess carrier lifetime (${\tau}_{PCD}$) and the lowest surface recombination velocity ($S_{eff}$), which are linked with its passivation properties. The proposed $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with diluted $NH_4OH$ is very promising for passivation layer and AR coating of the p-type c-Si solar cell.
An Er-doped sulfide fiber was drawn, and its spectroscopic properties were analyzed. Compositions of a 1000 ppmwt Er3+-doped core and an undoped clad were Ge30-Ga1-Asg-S61 and Ge30-As8-S62, in at.%, respectively. Refractive index of the core composition was approximately 0.01 high than that of the clad. In order to enhance the mechanical stability as well as to prevent infiltration of impurity ions such as OH-, an UV-curable polymer was used for the coating. The optical loss of a fiber formed directly from a polymer coated core rod without cladding was ∼15 dB/m at 1.06$\mu\textrm{m}$. In the case of a fiber with core/clad structure, the optical loss was so high that the stimulated emission of erbium fluorescence was not evident. It is believed that presence of inhomogeneous core/clad interface and crystalline aggregates precipitated in the clad region were responsible for the high optical loss. On the other hand, fluorescence characteristics of Er3+ embedded in the core region were more or loss deteriorate compared to fiber preform, which is attributed to the redistribution of the Er ions along with the partial crystallization of the core glass during the fiberization process.
The Electrical conduction and optical properties of Ta$_{2}$/O$_{5}$ thin films as the insulators in DRAM capacitors were studied. Liquid Ta/sib 2//O sub 5/ were prepared by a sol-gel processing and multiple layers were applied by spin-coating up to thickness of 800$\AA$. At annealing temperature of 300~$600^{\circ}C$ the electrical conduction and specific dielectric constant were discussed the behaivor of carrier were observed by the Thermally Stimulated Current (TSC) at the temperature range of 30~23$0^{\circ}C$. At annealing temperature of 300~$600^{\circ}C$ the samples were found to be amorphous below $600^{\circ}C$ and crystalline over it. The electrical strength was about 2.2 MV/cm at 40$0^{\circ}C$. In spite of noncrystallization over 50$0^{\circ}C$ the increasing of leakage current due to pinholes and increasing creak. The refractive index was obtained maximum (2.2) at 40$0^{\circ}C$. The dielectric constant was obtained maximum(18.6) at 40$0^{\circ}C$. TSC was observed one peak at the temperature range of 30~23$0^{\circ}C$ from sample at 40$0^{\circ}C$. In the case of collecting voltage the peak size is decreased in proportion to collecting voltage and then the peak may be thought carrier to be a ionic space charge.e.
