  • This paper presents effective test patterns and their BIST implementations for SoC and Board interconnects. Initially '6n'algorithm, where 'n' is the total number of interconnect nets, is introduced to completely detect and diagnose both static and crosstalk faults. Then, more economic 4n+1 algorithm is described to perfectly capture the crosstalk faults for the interconnect nets separated within a certain distance. It will be shown that both algorithms can be easily implemented as interconnect BIST hardwares with small area penalty than conventional LFSR.

  • Optical Switching Matrix (OSM) or Optical Multistage Interconnection Networks (OMINs) comprising photonic switches have been studied extensively as important interconnecting blocks for Optical Cross Connects (OXC) based on Optical Burst Switching (OBS). A basic element of photonic switching networks is a 2$\times$2 directional coupler with two inputs and two outputs. This paper is concerned with the diagnosis of multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. As the network size becomes larger in these days, the conventional diagnosis methods based on tests and simulation become inefficient, or even more impractical. We propose a simple and easily implementable algorithm for detection and isolation of the multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. Specifically. we develop an algorithm for isolation of the source fault in switching elements whenever the multiple crosstalk-faults arc detected in OSM. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by an example of 16$\times$16 OSM.

  • The effect of crosstalk errors is most significant in high-performance circuits. This paper presents effective test patterns for SoC and Board level interconnects considering actual effective aggressors. Initially '6n' algorithm, where 'n' is the total number of interconnect nets, is analyzed to detect and diagnose 100% crosstalk faults. Then, more efficient algorithm is proposed reducing the number of test patterns significantly while maintaining complete crosstalk fault coverage.

  • In this paper, a novel method of equalization of RF transceivers is suggested for MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) antenna actively studied for high speed data transmission in the recent IMT-2000 system. The core of suggestion is in equalizing the transfer characteristics of multiple transceivers using feedback and memory during the predefined calibration time. This makes it possible to weight the signals in the intermediate frequency, which is easier in the application of recently developed DoA(Direction of Arrival) algorithms. In addition, the time varying optimum cell formation according to traffic is feasible by antenna beam-forming based on the DoA information. The suggested method of equalizing multiple transceivers are successfully verified using envelope simulation. two outputs. This paper is concerned with the diagnosis of multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. As the network size becomes larger in these days, the convent.nal diagnosis methods based on tests and simulation be.me inefficient, or even more impractical. We propose a simple and easily implementable alg?ithm for detection and isolation of the multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. Specifically, we develop an algorithm for isolation of the source fault in switc.ng elements whenever the multiple crosstalk-faults are.etected in OSM. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by an example of 16$\times$16 OSM.

  • In ultra-deep submicron technology, minimization of propagation delay and power consumption on buses is one of the most important design objectives in system-on-chip (SOC) design. Crosstalk between adjacent wires on the bus may create a significant portion of propagation delay. Elimination or minimization of such faults is crucial to the performance and reliability of SOC designs. Most of the previous works on bus encoding are targeted either to minimize the bus switching or minimize the crosstalk delay, but not both. This paper proposes a new bus encoding scheme which can adaptively select one of functions "invert" and "logic-convert" according the number of bus switching on an encoded 4-bit cluster. This scheme leads to minimization of both crosstalk and bus switching. In experiment result, our proposed encoding technique consumes about 25% less power over the previous, while completely eliminating the crosstalk delay.

  • As cross-coupling capacitance generated in transmission line has been an important issue in VLSI world, a couple of ATPG algorithms has been proposed. However they were studied only for a simple single-line effect problem, so it cost so much time for an unsatisfying test generation efficiency. In this paper, we studied a noise model for multiple affected lines and generated test patterns in a short time. This paper proposes a crosstalk model affected by multiple tranmission lines and implemented an ATPG algorithm for detection of crosstalk noise faults. We modeled the crosstalk noise by multiple transmission line and made a truth table for this. We implemented an ATPG algorithm based on PODEM and revealed the results.

  • Optical Multistage Interconnection Networks(OMINs) comprising photonic switches have been studied extensively as important interconnecting building blocks for communication networks and parallel computing systems. A basic element of photonic switching networks is a 2$\times$2 directional coupler with two inputs and two outputs. This paper is concerned with the diagnosis of cross-talk-faults in OMINs. As the size of today's network becomes very large, the conventional diagnosis methods based on tests and simulation have become inefficient, or even more, impractical. In this paper, we propose a simple and easily implementable algorithm for detection and isolation of the single crosstalk-fault in OMINs. Specifically, we develope an algorithm fur the isolation of the source fault in switching elements whenever the single crosstalk-fault is detected in OMINS. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by an example of 16$\times$16 banyan network.
