This paper proposes a utility-based data rate allocation algorithm to provide high-quality mobile video streaming over femtocell networks. We first derive a utility function to calculate the optimal data rates for maximizing the aggregate utilities of all mobile users in the femtocell. The total sum of optimal data rates is limited by the link capacity of the backhaul connections. Furthermore, electromagnetic cross-talk poses a serious problem for the backhaul connections, and its influence passes on to mobile users, as well as causing data rate degradation in the femtocell networks. We also have studied a fixed margin iterative water-filling algorithm to achieve the target data rate of each backhaul connection as a counter-measure to the cross-talk problem. The results of our simulation show that the algorithm is capable of minimizing the transmission power of backhaul connections while guaranteeing a high overall quality of service for all users of the same binder. In particular, it can provide the target data rate required to maximize user satisfaction with the mobile video streaming service over the femtocell networks.
The activity of CAR can be regulated not only by ligand binding but also by phosphorylation of regulatory factors involved in extracellular signaling pathways, cross-talk interactions with transcription factors, and the recruitment, degradation, and expression of coactivators and corepressors. This regulation of CAR activity can in turn have effects on the control of diverse physiological homeostasis, including xenobiotic and energy metabolism, cellular proliferation, and apoptosis. CAR is phosphorylated by the ERK1/2 signaling pathway, which causes formation of a complex with Hsp-90 and CCRP, leading to its cytoplasmic retention, whereas phenobarbital inhibits ERK1/2, which causes dephosphorylation of the downstream signaling molecules, leading to the recruitment to CAR of the activated RACK-1/PP2A components for the dephosphorylation, nuclear translocation, and the transcriptional activation of CAR. Activated CAR cross-talks with FoxO1 to induce inhibition of its transcriptional activity and with PGC-1α to induce protein degradation by ubiquitination, resulting in the transcriptional suppression of PEPCK and G6Pase involved in gluconeogenesis. Regulation by CAR of lipid synthesis and oxidation is achieved by its functional cross-talks, respectively, with PPARγ through the degradation of PGC-1α to inhibit expression of the lipogenic genes and with PPARα through either the suppression of CPT-1 expression or the interaction with PGC-1α each to induce tissue-specific inhibition or stimulation of β-oxidation. Whereas CAR stimulates cellular proliferation by suppressing p21 expression through the inhibition of FoxO1 transcriptional activity and inducing cyclin D1 expression, it suppresses apoptosis by inhibiting the activities of MKK7 and JNK-1 through the expression of GADD45B. In conclusion, CAR is involved in the maintenance of homeostasis by regulating not only xenobiotic metabolism but also energy metabolism, cellular proliferation, and apoptosis through diverse cross-talk interactions with extracellular signaling pathways and intracellular regulatory factors.
Room-temperature operating CdZnTe(CZT) material is an innovative radiation detector which could reduce the patient dose to one-tenth level of conventional CT (Computed Tomography) and mammography system. The pixel and pixel pitch in the imaging device determine the conversion efficiency of incident X-or gamma-ray and the cross-talk of signal, that is, image quality of detector system. The weighting potential is the virtual potential determined by the position and geometry of electrode. The weighting potential obtained by computer-based simulation in solving Poisson equation with proper boundaries condition. The pixel was optimized by considering the CIE (charge induced efficiency) and the signal cross-talk in CT detector system. The pixel pitch was 1-mm and the detector thickness was 2-mm in the simulation. The optimized pixel size and inter-pixel distance for maximizing the CIE and minimizing the signal cross-talk is about $750{\mu}m$ and $125{\mu}m$, respectively.
In this paper, a new audio reproduction system was developed in which the cross-talk signals would be reasonably cancelled at an arbitrary listener position. To adaptively remove the cross-talk signals according to the listener's position, a method of tracking the listener position was employed. This was achieved using the two microphones, where the listener direction was estimated using the time-delay between the two signals from the two microphones, respectively. Moreover, room reverberation effects were taken into consideration where linear prediction analysis was involved. To remove the cross-talk signals at the left-and right-ears, the paths between the sources and the ears were represented using the KEMAR head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) which were measured from the artificial dummy head. To evaluate the usefulness of the proposed listener tracking system, the performance of cross-talk cancellation was evaluated at the estimated listener positions. The performance was evaluated in terms of the channel separation ration (CSR), a -10 dB of CSR was experimentally achieved although the listener positions were more or less deviated. A real-time system was implemented using a floating-point digital signal processor (DSP). It was confirmed that the average errors of the listener direction was 5 degree and the subjects indicated that 80 % of the stimuli was perceived as the correct directions.
The design of large area thin film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs) requires consideration of cross-talks between the data lines and pixel electrodes. These limits are imposed by the mutual coupling capacitances present in a pixel. The mutual coupling capacitance causes a pixel voltage error. In this study, semi-empirical model, which is adopted from VLSI interconnection capacitance calculations, is used to calculate mutual coupling capacitances. With calculated mutual coupling capacitances and arbitrary given image pattern, the root mean square (RMS) voltage of pixel is calculated to see vertical cross-talk from the first to the last column. The information obtained this study can be utilized to design the larger area and finer image quality panel.
This thesis deals a method to deliver more realistic sound by cancelling the cross-talk which is inherent to the 5.1 channel speaker system. The acoustical model for cross-talk cancellation is the free field model. This model minimizes distortion of sound. I used the bark scale sound quality compensation which based on psycho-acoustic. For the surround channels, band-limited sound quality compensation is performed in the frequency domain. I also performed the sound quality assessment test on the traditional 2 channel stereo and 5.1 channel system. This test is performed in the test chamber which satisfies the ITU-R specifications. I uses the IACC (Inter-Aural Cross-Correlation) to determine the preferences of the amateur and the golden ear experts to asses the trans-aural filter. According to the result from the proposed method, I got more the 38 dB separation rates with the Dolby standard speaker array. The results on the diffusion by the subjective test with the experts shows 0.4 point increased then before.
Balanced cell growth is crucial in animal development as well as tissue homeostasis. Concerted cross-regulation of multiple signaling pathways is essential for those purposes, and the dysregulation of signaling may lead to a variety of human diseases such as cancer. The time-honored Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin and recently identified Hippo signaling pathways are evolutionarily conserved in both Drosophila and mammals, and are generally considered as having positive and negative roles in cell proliferation, respectively. While most mainstream regulators of the Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin signaling pathway have been fairly well identified, the regulators of the Hippo pathway need to be more defined. The Hippo pathway controls organ size primarily by regulating cell contact inhibition. Recently, several cross-regulations occurring between the Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin and Hippo signaling pathways were determined through biochemical and genetic approaches. In the present mini-review, we mainly discuss the signal transduction mechanism of the Hippo signaling pathway, along with cross-talk between the regulators of the Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin and Hippo signaling pathways.
The two-dimensional modeling of the non-stationary thermal state and voltage responsivity of the sensitive elements usually used in solid-state pyroelectric focal plane arrays are presented. Temperature distributions under periodical thermal excitation and the response of the thermal imaging device, which is composed of the pyroelectric sensitive elements mounted on a single silicon substrate, are numerically calculated. The sensitive element consists of a covering metal layer, infrared polymer absorber, front metal contact, sensitive pyroelectric element, the interconnecting column and the bulk silicon readout. The results of the numerical modeling show that the thermal crosstalk between sensitive elements to be critical especially at low frequency (f < 10Hz) of periodically modulated light. It is also shown that the use of our models gives the possibility to improve the design, operating regimes and sensitivity of the device.
