Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, the participants were 220 pediatric nurses who worked at a general hospital in Seoul. The survey questionnaires used to assess the nurses' knowledge and attitude regarding children's postoperative pain were developed for this study. Results: The average score for knowledge was 67.7 out of 100. The mean score for attitude was 72.5 out of 100. The factor related to the knowledge level was education for pain management. Moreover, age, working department, position, working experience, education level, and number of children were associated with the attitude. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggested the need for a systematic education program for pain management of children in the postoperative condition.

  • Purpose. This cross-sectional survey research was undertaken to examine the degree of depression in post-menopausal women and to analyze the factors affecting that depression. Method. 325 people from public health center in Inchon were surveyed as the subject of this study. Data collection was conducted through the use of questionnaires. Results. The above half of these sampled people were in depressed state (64.0%) and the mean score of depression was 12.71. There were significant differences in the depression state according to presence of spouse, economic level, exercise, and smoking. A positive correlation was found between depression and climacteric symptoms. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was climacteric symptom. Climacteric symptom, presence of spouse, smoking, and exercise accounted for 45 % of the variance in postmenopausal women's depression. Conclusion. Nurses are able to use these results to plan and implement nursing interventions for decreasing depression and consequent the improved quality of life in Korean postmenopausal women. Also, the nurses have to be more aware of the following groups; solitary women, low-income group and smokers, that they have higher mean score of depression.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed at identifying the levels of parenting stress among mothers of children with cerebral palsy and factors influencing parenting stress. Method: The research design was cross-sectional survey. Data were collected from 122 mothers of hospitalized children (under 15 years of age) with cerebral palsy at the Y medical center using the questionnaires. The data were analyzed using one way analysis of variance with Scheffe test for post-hoc analysis or t-test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of parenting stress was 2.52 (SD=0.79; range: 1~4). The father's participation, mother's parenting hours, self-esteem and social support were significant predictors of parenting stress, significantly accounting for the 33.3% variance (F=16.118, p<.001). Conclusion: It is essential for health professionals to consider the aforementioned four factors when developing interventions to reduce parenting stress for mothers of children with cerebral palsy.

  • This cross-sectional study is to measure the distribution of self-reported health by income, house type, level of education, income satisfaction and self reported social class in an effort to compare the level of health inequality in Korea. The data used in the research are the Social Statistics Survey undertaken in 1999. The correlation coefficient was used to measure the association between inequalities in health and inequalities in socioeconomic status. The correlation coefficient was the most significant between self-reported health and the level of education and income satisfaction. As for the health-related behavior, hypertension, smoking, overweight and drinking were shown to be highly correlated with self-reported health.

Methods: The study is a cross-sectional survey and the participants were 363 students attending a nursing college located in Seoul. Data were collected by convenience sampling using self-reported questionnaires that consisted of general characteristics, emotional intelligence, perceived stress and burnout. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. Results: Findings of the multiple regression were as follows. First, emotional intelligence had a significant negative-effect on stress. Second, emotional intelligence had a significant negative-effect on burnout. Third, stress had a significant positive-effect on burnout and had a mediating effect on the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout. Conclusion: Results of the study suggest that as a way to reduce nursing college students' stress and burnout, programs which help improve nursing college students' emotional intelligence should be developed and implemented.

  • Cognizant of the role of the family in influencing health behaviors among its young members, especially during the time of COVID-19 in the Philippines where stay-at-home measures were in place from March 2020 until March 2022, this study sought to determine the predictive relationship of family relationship to COVID-19 preventive behavioral intention and pandemic fatigue among young Filipino undergraduates. A total of 1,665 undergraduate students participated in this cross-sectional online survey. Findings reveal that family cohesion significantly increases COVID-19 prevention behavioral intention among undergraduates. Moreover, students who report high levels of conflict in the family are less likely to comply with preventive behaviors and exhibit higher levels of pandemic fatigue.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sedentary behavior on subjective health in Korean adolescents. Methods: This study is designed as a cross-sectional study. The study sample comprised of 60,040 middle and high school students primarily at the age of 12 to 17. Using data from the 14th (2018) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted. Results: The rate of engaging in sedentary behavior for less than 2 hours was 28.4% and for more than 4 hours was 28.2% in Korean adolescents. In the result from the logistic regression analysis, compared to engaging in sedentary behavior for 2 hours or less, the adjusted odds ratio was 1.15 for over 4 hours, with other factors controlled. Conclusion: It is necessary to actively develop and promote active leisure activities and limit excessive media exposure and supplementary learning for adolescents.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the influence of chronotype and self-efficacy on drinking problem in undergraduate students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was adopted for the 177 undergraduate students in D, G, and K city in 2017. The data was analyzed for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Chronotype (${\beta}=-.31$, p< .001), self-efficacy (${\beta}=27$, p< .001) and religion (${\beta}=-.19$, p= .005) were identified as the factors influencing drinking problem in the subjects. The model explained 19% of variance in drinking problem (F= 11.36, p< .001). Conclusion: It is necessary to develop and apply a program that would consider chronotype and self-efficacy factors to reduce the drinking problem in undergraduate students.
