Compact Planar Array Antenna of a Vehicle Navigator for 5.8GHz DSRC scheme (5.8GHz DSRC 방식의 무선통신을 위한 자동차 내비게이션 단말기의 소형 평면배열 안테나)

  • In this paper, microstrip array antenna is proposed for the wireless communication of DSRC(dedicated short range communication) scheme at 5.8GHz, which works as a part of the Navigation terminal. The microstrip patches minimized from a rectangular microstrip antenna with a half wavelength are arrayed to be mounted on the narrow and long area in the top side of the navigation terminal. Besides, the array antenna can limit its own beamwidth to the driving lane and has better directivity. It is simulated to verify the validity of the proposed application. The prototype fabricated has a volume of $18{\times}40{\times}0.8mm^3$. From the measurement, it has circular polarization performance of 4dB axial ratio over 40MHz frequency band. In addition, antenna gain of 6.2dBi and 3dB beamwidth of $70^{\circ}$ at cross section of driving lane have been achieved.

Effect of Compression Test Conditions on Texture Profile Analysis of Surimi-based Products (압착실험조건이 어육연제품의 조직감 면모분석에 미치는 영향)

  • The texture profile analysis (TPA) parameters of commercial surimi-based products were evaluated at various compression test conditions. Cylindrical specimens of diameter to length (D/L) ratio of 1.0, 1.5, B.() cm/min were compressed to 50, 65 and 80% using crosshead speeds of 1.7, 3.3, 6.7 cm/min. TPA parameters of three surimi-based products (hardness-1, hardness-2, cohesiveness, springiness, chewiness and gumminess) were analyzed statistically. The TPA parameters were modified by dividing with cross section area and strain. The TPA parameters were affected by D/L and compression ratio except for crosshead speed for all three surimi-based products. The ecommended test conditions for TPA of surimi-based products seem to be D/L of 1.5, compression ratio of 80%, and crosshead speed of 1.7 to 6.7 cm/min.

The Effects of Acupuncture at GB34 on Disuse Muscle Atrophy in Rats (흰쥐의 불용성 근위축에 양릉천 자침이 미치는 효과)

  • Objectives Disuse muscle atrophy occurs in response to pathologies such as joint immobilization, inactivity or bed rest. Muscle disuse is accompanied by an increase in apoptotic signaling, which mediates some of the responses to unloading in the muscle. GB34 (Yanglingquan) is a acupuncture point on the lower leg and one of the most frequently used points in various skeletomuscular diseases. In this study, the hypothesis that the acupuncture at GB34 could attenuate immobilization-induced skeletal muscle atrophy was tested. Methods The left hindlimb immobilization was performed with casting tape in both GB34 group (n=10) and Control group (n=10). The rats in GB34 group were daily treated with acupuncture at GB34. After 2 weeks of immobilization, the morphology of right and left gastrocnemius muscles in both GB34 and Control groups were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. To investigate the immobilization-induced muscular apoptosis, the immunohistochemical analysis of Bax and Bcl-2 was carried out. Results GB34 group represented the significant protective effects against the reductions of the left gastrocnemius muscles weight and average cross section area to compared with Control group. The acupuncture at GB34 significantly reduced the immunoreactivity of BAX and increased the immunoreactivity of Bcl-2 in gastrocnemius muscle compared with Control group. Conclusions These results suggest that the acupuncture at GB34 has protective effects against immobilization-induced muscle atrophy by regulating the activities of apoptosis-associated BAX/Bcl-2 proteins in gastrocnemius muscle.

Measurements on Effects of Locations of Obstacles in an Explosion Chamber

  • Measurements were performed to investigate the effects on flame and pressure development by varying locations of multiple obstacles in a top-venting explosion chamber. The chamber dimension was 1000 mm in height with a $700\;{\times}\;700\;mm^2$ cross-section and a rectangular vent area of $700\;{\times}\;700\;mm^2$. Three different multiple obstacles with blockage ratio of 30% were used by changing from 200 mm, 500 mm to 800 mm in heights within the chamber. Temporally resolved flame front images were recorded by a high speed camera to investigate the interaction between the propagating flame and the obstacles. The results showed that the triangular bar caused the fastest flame developments at given times whereas the lowest was obtained with the cylindrical bar. It was also found that local flame displacement speeds of different obstacles were sensitive to the locations of obstacles. The local speed becomes larger in going from 200 mm, to 500 mm and to 800 mm in heights. The obstacles in height of 800 mm yielded the highest overpressure whereas the lowest was in height of 200 mm.

On the Flow Characteristics around a Circular Cylinder according as the Water Depth from the Free Surface (자유수면에 인접한 원형실린더형 몰수체 주위의 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • The free surface influenced the wake behind a circular cylinder and its effects were investigated experimentally in a circulating water channel with the variation of water depth. Instantaneous velocity fields were measured in this paper. The measured results has been compared with each other to investigate the flow characteristics of the circular cylinder's 2-dimensional section at $Re=1.0{\times}10^3$ using 2-frame grey level cross correlation PIV method. The flow around the circular cylinder with free surface affected the wake structure. Especially, in case of d=1.0D, the boundary layer was measured in the whole area. The separation point and boundary layer of the circular cylinder could be controlled by the water depth.

  • In this paper, the electrical properties of nanoscale junctionless p-channel MuGFET at cryogenic temperature have been analyzed experimentally. The experiment was performed using a cryogenic probe station which uses the liquid Helium. It has been observed that the drain current oscillation at low drain voltage and cryogenic temperature was more pronounced in junctionless transistor than in accumulation mode transistor. The reason for more marked oscillation is due to the smaller electrical cross section area of the inversion channel which is formed at the center of silicon film in junctionless transistor. It was also observed that the drain current and maximum transconductance were increased as the measurement temperature increased. This is resulted from the increase of hole mobility and the decrease of the threshold voltage as the measurement temperature increases. The drain current oscillation due to the quantum effects can be occurred up to the room temperature when the device size scales down to the nanometer level.

The Experimental Analysis of the Effect of Wind Load on the Stability of a Container Crane (풍하중이 컨테이너 크레인 안정성에 미치는 영향의 실험적 해석)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the stability of a 50ton container crane using wind tunnel test and provide a container crane designer with data which can be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load at 75m/s wind velocity is applied on a container crane. Data acquisition conditions for this experiment were established in accordance with the similarity. The scale of a container crane dimension, wind velocity and time were chosen as 1/200, 1/13.3 and 1/15. And this experiment was implemented in an Effect type atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel with $11.52m^2$ cross-section area. Each directional drag and overturning moment coefficients were investigated and uplift forces at each supporting point due to the wind load were analyzed.

Development of a Long-slope Water Harvesting System in Natural Channel for Drought Mitigation in Upland (밭작물 가뭄피해 경감을 위한 소류천 유출수 저수 시스템 개발)

  • This study developed a rainwater harvesting system for the irrigation of upland on sloping area. The assessment of water supply capacity was evaluated in farm field experience. This system consists of a water catchment device and a collapsible storage tank. The water catchment device was designed to collect runoff water in natural channel of 500 mm width into a pipe of 50 mm inner diameter. The device has funnel-shaped plan and cross-section of square. The storage capacity of the collapsible water tank was caculated to meet the water demand for irrigation in 30 a cultivated land for 10-year frequancy drought. The tank has a cuboid shape with a capacity of 30 ㎥, 5 m in width and length, 1.2 m in height. This system can supply 92% of the water required for drop irrigation of red pepper and 88% of the water required for drop irrigation of onions in 30 a cultivation land during the month of May and June. In the case of 16-dry days of 10-years frequency, this system is capable to irrigate 100% of required water for red pepper and onion, 76.7% of required water for Omija (Schisandra chinensis), and 51.5% of required water for autumn kimchi cabbage.

Analysis of Multi-layered Thin Film Using ATR FT-IR and pyro-GC/MS (ATR FT-IR과 pyro-GC/MS를 이용한 다층박막필름의 분석)

  • The material constitution of multi-layered thin film coated on the PET base film was analyzed using ATR FT-IR and pyro GC/MS combination. The cross section of the film was acquired by cracking the film after dipping in liquid nitrogen and was observed using optical microscope. Total thickness of the coated film was $70{\mu}m$ and three layers were observed. Since each layers were too thin to analyze directly except the surface layer, analyzable area of each layers were exposed by using a proper solvent and were investigated using ATR FT-IR and pyro GC/MS. Results shows that three layers were commonly consisted of urethane-acrylate copolymers. Also, inorganic and/or metal inclusions detected by XPS and SEM-EDAX were exhibited by nano size $SiO_2$ particles in layer(1) and aluminum flakes in layer(2).
