Thus, fostering creative human resources should be important mission of the nation. The purpose of this study is to identify what type of creative human resources is possible, based on Korean culture and background. Qualitative research experts was given to six experts of academics, institutes, and industries in science, humanities, social science, and art. The result indicated that key words for fostering creative human resources in Korea are 'fusion' and 'integration', and the definition and factors of creative human resources as well as educational strategy to foster it depend upon them. How to foster creative human resources in life-long learning also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of portfolio instruction on the creativity and scientific inquiry ability of 6th-grade students in science classroom. Four classes were sampled from an urban elementary school in southern part of Seoul. Two classes were assigned to experimental group and the other two classes to control group. Portfolio instruction was administered to the experimental group for 10 weeks, and traditional instruction to the control group. Data on students' creativity and scientific inquiry ability were collected prior to and after the treatment for both groups. Students' perception on portfolio instruction was investigated with experimental group after the treatment. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Portfolio instruction had a significant positive effect on creativity; (2) Students' originality, one of sub-domain of creativity, showed marked increase after portfolio instruction; (3) Portfolio instruction had a significant positive effect on scientific inquiry ability; (4) Integrated inquiry ability, a sub-domain of inquiry ability, improved meaningfully after portfolio instruction; and (4) Students' perception on portfolio instruction is very positive.

  • According to trends in scientific technical competition, many countries around the world are interested in and focused on the STEAM integrated education. By observing the fact that the goal of our country's science education is to cultivate creative workers who have scientific knowledge, the need for STEAM integrated education cannot be denied. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop the STEAM integrated program focused on themes that considered activities and interest in the grade 6 science subject in order to identify its influence on the creativity and interest levels of elementary students. The STEAM integrated education program in this study was developed so that it can be applied as a unit review or reinforcement activities in the closing activities per unit in grade 6. The focus was placed on heightening students' creativity and interest in science subject learning through a program focused on activities per theme. As a result of applying the developed STEAM integrated program in prior and post conditions on 3 elementary school's students in J Province, it was discovered that significant improvement was found in the creativity and scientific interest of elementary students in the experimental group, compared to the control group. Therefore, continuous and systematic development of the STEAM integrated education program is required, and moreover, it must be developed for all elementary grade levels and efforts should be put into actively applying the program in the field of education.

  • SMEs as an organization to succeed and to be sustainable must have the most essential and strategic capital, namely creativity, competitive advantage, and intellectual capital. This study aims to explore how creativity and intellectual capital determines SMEs' sustainability as well as examine the emerging role of competitive advantage in supporting this relationship. A quantitative method was applied to gain a better understanding of the relationship between variables undergoing Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). This study collected data from 123 SMEs in East Java of Indonesia using an online survey. The approach adopted in this study is a convenience random sampling method, which is widely used in entrepreneurship and SMEs' sustainability research. The findings showed that intellectual capital positively affects both competitive advantage and SMEs' sustainability. Additionally, the result of this study confirms a robust relationship between intellectual capital and SMEs' sustainability. However, partially, creativity failed in explaining SMEs' sustainability. Furthermore, this study confirmed that competitive advantage has successfully mediated both the influence of creativity and intellectual capital to SMEs' sustainability. Although this research only involved participants in East Java, this study can be the first step for relevant research of SMEs' sustainability, in particular, in Indonesia.

  • In this study, intelligence and creativity of students selected for the mentorship program at the Science-gifted Education Center were tested and those levels were related to the examination for the mentorship program. Diverse psychometric tests(WAIS, RAPM, TTCT-verbal, TTCT-figural) were administered to the students in both courses(biology course: n=19, physics course: n=21) at the Science-gifted Education Center. Students selected for the mentorship program had high intelligence scores(WAIS IQ>98%). On the other hand, their creativity scores were not as high as their intelligence scores. In the correlation analysis between those scores and examinations for the mentorship program, examination for the biology program was correlated with WAIS and TTCT-verbal, whereas that for the physics program was correlated with RAPM. These results show that students for the mentorship program have higher score in intelligence than in creativity and the examination for the mentorship program tests mainly intelligence. Thus, educational effort should include an emphasis on the assessment of creativity.

  • For this study, we reviewed theoretical background of STEAM education and domestic and international case studies in STEAM education. By doing so, we developed and applied the STEAM Education Program through the use of Scratch. This program is designed for the 3rd and 4th lesson of 6th graders' science in elementary school. As a result, the creativity index and positive attitude about science of the students who went through the researched program increased with meaningful difference compared to that of the sample population. The result of this study shows that the STEAM Education Program, using Scratch, can improve creativity. And it is sure that it brings positive changes for the science-related affective domains.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the elementary school science instructional material for nurturing students' creativity and to analyze the effects of this material on the changes of students' creativity. This material was composed of student's worksheet and a teacher's guidebook, in which are relevant to the elements of creativity and creative activities that can be applied to elementary science curriculum of 5th and 6th grades. Student's worksheets include various creative activities: imagination, guided imagery, experimental activity, mind mapping as wrap-up, and 'let's think' as an extended activity, game, puzzle, making a cartoon, to be, role playing, and so on. These materials were applied to 5th grade science class, 156 students. They were divided into two groups: the treatment group to which developed material was applied and the control group which was a traditional lecture-centered class. After this material had been applied for 3 months, students of both groups took a test of creativity. Interviews and observation were also carried out with three level groups (higher, medium and lower level) which were divided within the treatment group based on their creativity score. The results of this study were as follows: The treatment group showed higher score on creativity than that of control group(p<0.01). In the result of interviews and observation, the students of the higher and the medium level accomplished their tasks by themselves better than those on lower level. All of them took an interest in visual activity. In a wrapping-up step, the higher level students made mind map more systematically and the medium students improved as time goes on, but low level students feel constrained. In totally, they used various expression methods and were interested in making drawings and cartoons creatively.

  • Creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation orientation are key factors for technological innovation. The main driver of technological innovation in the enterprise is the executives of the firm. According to the Upper Echelons Theory of D.C. Hambrick(2007), the creativity of the managerial individual will be put into various aspects within the organization's innovation system. The organizational innovation system is positively influenced by the creativity of the executives, and is achieved by manifesting innovation orientation and technological innovation orientation with innovative performances. The purpose of this study is to investigate using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM), whether individual creativity of executives of 132 companies with research organizations among domestic semiconductor companies in Korea influences innovation performance of firms through entrepreneurship orientation and technology innovation orientation. We applied the personal creativity level measurement index, the entrepreneurial orientation measurement factor, and the technology innovation orientation measurement factor identified in the previous research literature. The results of the Structural Equation Modeling analysis show that the creativity of executives have a positive (+) relationship with the innovation performance of firms when they are only mediated by technological innovation orientation, and entrepreneurial orientation. On the other hand, the results of the SEM shows the direct effects between the creativity of executives and innovation performance are not statistically valid. As a result, the individual creativity of executives who lead the innovation of the firm, entrepreneurial orientation, and technological innovation orientation of the researcher organization are very important factors and an inseparable relationship for the successful innovation of the firms.
