Design of the Anti-sway Controller for a Boom Type Crane Using the LQ Control (LQ 제어를 이용한 붐형 크레인의 흔들림 제어기 설계)

  • An LQ controller design method is proposed for effective anti-sway control of boom type crane in this paper. It is important for high productivity that the sway of a load is controlled as fast as possible when the trolley arrives to the destination with maximum velocity. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed LQ controller. simulations and experiments using the boom type crane as experimental device is carried out. Tracking performance for a step type reference and robustness for the change of working environment such as the change of load weight and parameters produced by a wire rope and disturbance by the wind arc proved by the experiment. It will be examined that boom type crane can be applied to industrial fields through experiment in this paper.

  • The half of njuries by carrying-unloading machinery was injuries due to crane. The purpose of this study was to analyze present condition of injuries by the crane, to investigate hazard management model, injury prevention technique, and to suggest safety countermeasures of crane working. The hazard management model is composed of 5 rules and 10 methods. The rules are to remove, separate, protect, make up and correspond. Prior to this crane countermeasures, general protection for head, foot and hand are needed. Hazard prevention affects on industrial management economically and psychologically. The preparation of safety countermeasures are very important for the prevention of industrial injuries, The countermeasures are setting-up of safety culture, active and rationale safety education. As the industrial safety and health system should be performed for the employees' health and life, the industrial competitive power and productivity would be improved.

  • Overhead crane must do to control occurrence of Anti-Sway according to work situation that is used in case move industry spot's heavy freight, and do safe transfer of freight. Transfer process that make use of crane suspends and consist of series action that put down freight to do relevant addition decreasing the speed before objective while move by schedule section equal speed because increasing the speed after lift thing. This need skill degree by experience because there are operator's function and affinity. Also, must control this effectively because can affect big productivity elevation according to effect that get in transfer of safe freight, Therefore, illuminate physical characteristic of crane and algorithm of motor drive department and there is purpose of this research to do so that correct control may be available through over head crane's shaking control and position control designing LQ controller.

  • At container terminals, a major measurement of productivity can be work-efficiency in quay-side. At the apron, containers are loaded onto the ship and unloaded to apron by Q/C(Quay Crane). For improving the productivity of quay crane, the more efficient Y/T(Yard Tractor) operation method is necessary in container terminals. Between quay-side and yard area, current transferring methods is single-cycling which doesn't start loading unless it finishes unloading. Dual-cycling is a technique that can be used to improve the productivity of quay-side and utility of yard tractor by ship loading and unloading simultaneously. Using the dual-cycling at terminals only necessitates an operational change without purchasing extra equipment. Exactly, Y/T operation method has to be changed the dedicate system to pooling system. This paper presents an efficient ship loading and unloading plan in container terminals, which use the dual-cycling. We propose genetic and tabu search algorithm for this problem.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of machinery house location on the stability of high efficiency gantry crane which can improve the productivity of the container transportation wok by reducing cycle time. The wind load was evaluated according to 'Load Criteria of Building Structures' enacted by the ministry of construction & transportation. The uplift forces of high efficiency gantry crane under this wind load were calculated by analyzing reaction forces at each supporting point. And variation of reaction forces at each supporting point was analyzed according to machinery house location.

  • Recently, the concept of automation is widely in shipping and unloading materials using the overhead crane for the enhanced productivity. In this regards, we designed an overhead crane that can be operated by operated by computer control system and installed this system at KAERI. In this paper, we introduce algorithms to find the 3D position, diameter, width, and rotated angle of objects such as drum, coil, and container. And the performance of the presented algorithms is tested using drum and container. The result will be useful for positoning grapple device such as spreader to objects in order to automatically grasp them.

  • In this paper, design specifications for a new generation container crane in year 2013 is investigated. After analyzing the trend of the development of container cranes from the 1950s to date, a prospective size for targeting year 2013 is proposed. Introductory specifications of the frame, trolley, hoist and spreader for the proposed new crane are discussed. Considering that the mega-ships will load and unload more than 15000 boxes at one stop, rough dimensions of the crane including outreach, rail gage, lift, backreach, etc. are also suggested. Although the sheer size of the cranes already present some challenges, the biggest challenge is to improve productivity by maximizing the moves per hour. For this, the speeds of trolleys and hoists, rail loads, stability, etc. are discussed.

  • Productivity of container cranes and gantry cranes is influenced by the performance of crane hardware and cycle time. Cycle time in container handling is influenced by the path of containers and relative positioning of containers. So we have to minimize the sway of containers and spreaders to minimize relative positioning time. And sway minimization is influenced by the skill of workers in manual gantry cranes. In this paper, we will develop anti-sway system using mechanical and electrical method. Proposed hybrid system uses the basic structure of general manual gantry crane. So, it is very useful and effective. Electrical methods are main methods and mechanical methods are auxiliary methods.

  • Even though the tower crane is a major equipment in a construction of high rise buildings, there are lack of studies of it. This study is presenting a framework of developing a intelligent tower crane applied with the technology of machine-vision, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), or GPS(Global positioning System) and proposing the prototype of machine-vision module, sub module of this Framework. Through monitoring form CCTV(Closed Circuit Television) and LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) in machine-module the real time communication between in-site workers and crane operator is possible. this will improve the productivity and safety of the tower crane.
