Design and Implementation of a Web Courseware for Learning ‘Digital Circuit’ (‘디지털 회로’ 학습을 위한 웹 코스웨어의 설계와 구현)

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a practice-oriented simulation-type web courseware to learn the ‘Digital Circuits’ subject effectively. The implemented web courseware utilized multimedia elements such as graphics, animations, and voices etc. for improving understanding and interaction of learning. Also, the web courseware could be easily updated a learning information by using database built in a web server system. In result, the implemented web courseware could encourage a learner with a motive of learning and improve effects of learning. Also, a learner can widely learn because we can add various contents to database according to need. Furthermore, the web courseware could improve understanding for learning by offering feedback on the result.

Development of Wed-Based Courseware in Oral Health Education for Elementary School Children (초등학교 구강보건교육을 위한 코스웨어 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop game style courseware in oral health instruction for elementary school children. The manufacturing equipment and languages which were used to develop the courseware were: Photoshop version 7.0, Illustrator version 10.0, HTML, Dream Weaver MX, Editplus, CSS and Java - script. The data base was built up by using PHP and mySQL over Internet Explorer version 4.0. The contents of courseware for oral health education were based on the list of oral health affaires of the Department of Health and Welfare, 2002. The story of the game ‘Saving Hayani locked down in a castle of a cavity man’ was developed for the learners to learn oral health by inducing learning motivation. A character named ‘Chan i’ was introduced to the learners to be more friendly with the program while they were learning. As the game was made of three step education levels, the learner most pass the prepared test given at each step to advance to a higher level. A database connected to web was constructed to store the scores the learners earned at each step. In conclusion, the courseware will help the elementary school children learn oral health care efficiently through the internet regardless of time and space.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a criterion for evaluation on game-style courseware by the application of HCI theory. The HCI theory, which deals with principles or methods for developing systems people can use conveniently and pleasantly, has been applied to overall area of program development. And it also has been widely used to evaluate learning programs. However, there have been few studies on a game-style courseware evaluation on the basis of the HCI theory. Thus, it is necessary to apply the HCI theory to studies on the game-style courseware evaluation. This paper shows that evaluation criteria are developed on three viewpoint bases : usefulness, usability, and affect which are as elements in HCI. The evaluation criteria developed in this paper can be applied to a basis for evaluation on game-style coursewares.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a courseware based on GIS (Geographic Information System) for improving visual and spatial learning efficiency of geography learning. The existing coursewares are not easy to encourage the learners in learning motivation, because these provide only the visual information using simple texts or imamges to the learners. To overcome these constraints, our courseware using GIS that can support spatial information can control the attribute information of map. In this paper, we define the courseware as the geography learning system. This courseware system enables the learners to take the perfect learning and the repetitive learning through the feedback after evaluating the learning degree. Also using geography learning application modules we implemented, the learners can participate directly in learning as well as search information in WWW.

  • Usually, the purpose of tutorial courseware is to improve studies accomplishment degree of students. These coursewares must include enough contents of subject and characteristics of subject matter. And should support utilization to keep learning motivation continuously. In this paper, we proposed tutorial courseware for elementary student that reflect above elements. The subject is 'animal feature' in elementary. Applied in class that the proposed program. On the basis of the result that apply in class, compare with traditional courseware and analyzed about assessment and utilization. As a result, assessment is meaning all statistically, but assessment of our courseware is improved most. also usefulness is a good. Therefore, we confirmed that influence to assessment according to composition method and contents of courseware.

  • To enhance the effect of learning in vocabulary learning, it is important first of all for learner to take active learning and be interested in learning, not cramming education. Due to this background, the instructor sometimes takes advantage of the game concepts in producing the courseware for vocabulary learning. But because of overwhelming overload in making the game-based courseware, it have been not made practical application to vocabulary learning. In this research, we study on the strategy for making practical application of the game concept to producing the courseware for vocabulary learning. And, based on the strategy, we design and implement the authoring tool of courseware for vocabulary learning based on crossword puzzle game. This tool enables instructor to produce the courseware based on crossword puzzle game easily and quickly and to make efficiently the courseware for vocabulary learning with level.

  • In this paper, we are implemented the courseware targets to the integrated a digital system analysis, a design theory, and a hardware description language training and a logic analysis. This paper consists of two subjects. One is that the learning of a digital system analysis, that of a design theory, and the training of a hardware description language is simultaneously performed. The other is that the experiment of courseware. To learn the hardware description language, the explanation using sound or moving images, setting-up of a simulation or a synthesis program, and simulating are executed on a courseware. And also, we proposed an integrated systems for the hardware description language and a logic synthesis. Also, The reliablity of the tool was verified to be preyed an efficient operation of an implemented digital system courseware tool by korea computer research association.

  • The good courseware must have the me끼ts of computer and must be designed according to principles of instruction. Therefore, we propose a model of learning structure for tutorial web courseware on the basis of elaboration theory that can give us the suitable design strategies of contents for web courseware. This model is suited to the level learning and individual learning because it is constructed of six factors - epitome, precedence learning, basis learning, depth learning, summarizer, synthesizer. We also make a tutorial web courseware to apply this model and evaluate effects in comparison with the existing tutorial web coursewares.

Collaborative Conflict Handling Model for Courseware Co-Authoring (코스웨어 공동 저작을 위한 협력적 충돌 해결 모델)

  • As collaborative computing technology goes widespread, interactions among concurrent users are very important, especially in education domain. But existing co-authoring mechanisms and CSCW technologies have limitations for conflict handling. In general, co-authoring tools provide solutions that one or certain users' views are influenced for conflict handling. These solutions have advantages to accomplish rapidly for conflict handling, but other authors' views cannot be affected sufficiently. In this paper, we define the courseware as network structure of instructional units. And we propose co-authoring model for courseware using collaborative conflict-handling mechanism. Using this mechanism, instructors can affect their own viewpoints to the unique courseware. As contents created in these forms have multiple structures. it can provide proper materials according to students' requirements. Therefore, it can provide students with individual learning facilities on online educational systems. Proposed model is useful for courseware based on structured form of document such as XML.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a web-based courseware where learners can do self-directed learning to study Web programming languages such as Html, CSS, JavaScript and Dhtml. Each section consists of text class, movie class, practice class, formative assessment, laboratory and bulletin board. And our courseware makes teachers to teach, assess and give scores to learners on Web. In our Web courseware, learners can play a movie class and practice Web programming codes in one screen simultaneously, and execute codes and confirm a results in the same screen also. Therefore, learners can understand Web programming languages efficiently, which are hard to understand immediately by text.
