Analysis of Symmetric and Periodic Open Boundary Problem by Coupling of FEM and Fourier Series

  • Most electrical machines like motor, generator and transformer are symmetric in terms of magnetic field distribution and mechanical structure. In order to analyze these problems effectively, many coupling techniques have been introduced. This paper deals with a coupling scheme for open boundary problem of symmetric and periodic structure. It couples an analytical solution of Fourier series expansion with the standard finite element method. The analytical solution is derived for the magnetic field in the outside of the boundary, and the finite element method is for the magnetic field in the inside with source current and magnetic materials. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it retains sparsity and symmetry of system matrix like the standard FEM and it can also be easily applied to symmetric and periodic problems. Also, unknowns of finite elements at the boundary are coupled with Fourier series coefficients. The boundary conditions are used to derive a coupled system equation expressed in matrix form. The proposed algorithm is validated using a test model of a bush bar for the power supply. And the each result is compared with analytical solution respectively.

  • 비 정렬된 입출력단자를 갖는 능동 방향성 결합기에서 최대 전력결합 특성을 얻기 위한 새로운 설계조건을 제안하였다. 제안한 설계방법의 타당성 및 정확성을 분석하기 위하여 불연속 입출력 경계면에서 발생하는 반사감도를 고려한 새로운 결합효율을 정의하였다. 분석 결과, 지금까지 방향성 결합기를 설계하기 위하여 사용되어 왔던 위상정합조건과 최소간격조건들은 불연속 특성과 이득을 갖는 능동 방향성 결합기의 설계조건에 적합하지 않으며, 새로운 전력 등가분배조건이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

4-Channel Patch Array Antennas for Home Network System

  • This paper describes a design of a miniature patch antenna and its 4-channle array for 5.25 GHz wireless LAN band. Each patch element is designed for the low mutual coupling between each element and for the small size of the array antenna. The size of the each element is $7 mm{\times}14.5 mm{\times}5.6 mm$ and it satisfy IEEE 802.11a frequency band. It is arrayed for independent 4-channel operation. The total size of the array antenna is $35.6 mm{\times}52.5 mm{\times}5.6 mm$. The measured reflection coefficients and the radiation patterns of the fabricated antennas show the reasonable agreements with prediction.

확장된 새로운 층 방법을 이용한 사다리꼴 회절격자의 TM 모드의 결합계수 계산 (Extended Additional Layer Method for the Calculation of TM mode coupling coefficient for Trapezoidal Gratings)

  • 확장된 새로운 층 방법을 이용하여 사다리꼴과 삼각형 형태의 회절격자 구조를 가지는 5층의 DFB 구조 소자의 TM 모드의 결합계수를 계산하였다. TM 모드의 unperturbed 필드 분포를 쉽게 계산하기 위하여 회절격자 영역의 비유전상수의 역수를 종축과 횡축 양 방향으로 평균값을 취하여 새로이 설정하는 층의 비유전상수의 역수가 되도록 설정하였다. 확장된 새로운 층 방법이 TM 모드의 결합계수 계산에도 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 회절격자 영역의 등분할 층수를 6층까지 늘려가며 self-consistent하게 검증하였다.

Simulation of turbulent flow of turbine passage with uniform rotating velocity of guide vane

  • In this study, a computational method for wall shear stress combined with an implicit direct-forcing immersed boundary method is presented. Near the immersed boundaries, the sub-grid stress is determined by a wall model in which the wall shear stress is directly calculated from the Lagrangian force on the immersed boundary. A coupling mathematical model of the transition process for a model Francis turbine comprising turbulent flow and rotating rigid guide vanes is established. The spatiotemporal distributions of pressure, velocity, vorticity and turbulent quantity are gained with the transient process; the drag and lift coefficients as well as other forces (moments) are also obtained as functions of the attack angle. At the same time, analysis is conducted of the characteristics of pressure pulsation, velocity stripes and vortex structure at some key parts of flowing passage. The coupling relations among the turbulent flow, the dynamical force (moment) response of blade and the rotating of guide vane are also obtained.

소자간 상호 간섭이 존재하는 환경에서 평면 배열 빔 설계 기법의 최적화 (The optimization of the beam pattern design considering the mutual coupling effects in planar arrays)

  • 평면 배열에서 원하는 빔패턴을 얻고자 할 때 각각의 소자들의 자체 방사특성 에 의해 다른 소자가 영향을 받게된다. 보통 이러한 영향은 빔패턴의 변화를 가져올 뿐만 아니라 소자의 성능을 저하시키게 된다. 이러한 간섭을 줄이기 위해서 배열 형태를 바꾸는 등의 구조적인 개선은 많이 시도되어 왔다 그러나 이러한 개선을 통하여 영향을 줄일 수는 있으나 보다 더 정확하게 원하는 사양의 빔을 설계하기 위해서는 최적화 기법을 통하여 이러한 영향을 보상해 주어 야 한다. 본 논문에서는 빔을 설계할 때 상호 간섭 영향을 포함시킨 빔설계 알고리듬을 소개한다. 이 알고리듬은 선형 최소자승법의 해를 기반으로 최적화를 수행하고 상호 간섭의 영향은 coupling coefficients matrix를 도입하였다. 이러한 방법으로 빔을 설계하게 되면 소자의 위치 등을 변화시키지 않으면서 원하는 사양의 빔을 설계 할 수 있게 된다.

  • Simple equivalent circuit model is developed for wireless energy transfer system via coupled magnetic resonances and practical design method is also provided. Node equations for the resonance system are built with the method expanding transformer's equations and the optimum distances of coils in the system is derived analytically for optimum coupling coefficients for high transfer efficiency. Moreover, to calculate the frequency characteristics for a lossy system the equivalent model is established at an electric design automation tool. The model parameters of the actual system are extracted and the results of modeling are compared with the measurement. Through the developed model, we can understand the principles that the system shows higher efficiency than conventional magnetic coupling systems and impedance matching is important to achieve high efficiency.

3-3 결합으로 이루어진 PZT/고분자 압전복합체 (Piezoelectric PZT/Polymer Composite with 3-3 Connectivity)

  • The characteristics of the PZT/PMM and PZT/Butadiene composites with 3 dimensional network structure have been investigated as a function of the PZT volume fraction. The dielectric constants of the PZT composites increased linearly as the PZT volume fraction increased. However, they are not significantly affected by the polymer compliance. The piezoelectric d33 coefficients of the PZT/Butadiene are largest than the PZT/PMM because of the high elastic compliance which promotes stress transfer. The values of the mechanical quality factor adn frequency factor of the PZT/PMM composite are slightly larger, while the planar coupling factor is smaller, than the PZT/Butadiene composite. These results are due to strong interaction and mechanical coupling between PZT and PMM.

  • This paper proposes the calculation method of magnetic coupling coefficient of the contact-less energy transmission system by 3D finite element method with a variation of the secondary core positions. The primary, secondary self and leakage inductances and the capacitances of a resonant circuit are calculated by the finite element analysis results. From these values, the magnetic coupling coefficients are obtained. The secondary voltages and currents at the secondary core positions are calculated by using the resonant circuit and compared.

  • In this paper, a compact S type resonator is presented, where the proposed resonator is surface micromachined over transmission lines or other resonators, in order to obtain a wide range of possible electromagnetic couplings. The structure has been applied in two compact, bandstop and bandpass filters with moderate fractional bandwidths (FBW) of 20% and 25% respectively. The bandstop filter presented, was designed by the combination of two design methods in order to obtain the proposed fractional bandwidth, where traditionally, coupled resonator bandstop filters have been used for narrow stopbands. The bandpass filter illustrates the use of the proposed suspended resonator structure to obtain a wide range of electric type coupling coefficients, and external quality factors for the filter. This paper describes the design methodology, concepts and fabrication method proposed for the design of these filters.
