  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of various factors, the social support of friends and relatives, couple's characteristics, and the mother's parenting characteristics, and their impact upon infant development. For the purposes of this study, data was taken from 2078 infants who were born in 2008 and their mothers who participated in the 1st Korean Children Panel Survey of the Child-Care Policy Research Institute. The data collected were processed statistically by means of a structural model and the fit of the model was also found to be very good. The findings indicated that the social support of friends and relatives and couple's characteristics did indeed impact upon an infant's development, with the mother's parenting characteristics having a mediating effect. The direct effect of the social support of friends and relatives on infant development was positive and the results of the effect were the same even when taking into account the mediating effects of the mother's parenting characteristics. The direct effect of a couple's characteristics on the mother's parenting characteristics was negative but the result of it was also positive when taken in conjunction with the mediating effects of the mother's parenting characteristics.

  • This study aims to identify the change of bathroom design characteristics through the investigation of bathroom space in apartment model houses. The bathroom space of each private exclusive area was analyzed from the plane characteristics perspective such as quantity, location, size and shape. For this study, site survey and observation was performed to analyze the characteristics of plane and design based on twenty seven model houses of seven large-sized construction firms with Seoul area focused on. Research object was restricted to from ten Pyeong's apartment to sixty Pyeong's in order to understand various characteristics of twenty seven model houses. Since analysis variables were not diverse, the main three factors - frequency, percentage and an average - were represented in Microsoft Excel worksheet, focusing on the quantity of each case, design characteristics and pattern. 1) The quantity of bathrooms: It was turned out that the quantity of bathroom was one in ten Pyeong's apartment while it was two in thirty, forty, and fifty Pyeong's apartment. There were mostly two bathrooms available in twenty Pyeong's apartment even if only one was planned in few cases. All powder rooms and dress rooms in twenty and fifty Pyeong's apartment were designed to be separated and be accessible through bedroom. 2) The size of bathrooms: As private exclusive area increased, the size of bathroom for both family and couple increased. Couple bathrooms had the tendency to be equipped with shower booth and bathtub at the same place or have more tubs than family bathrooms because couple bathrooms were bigger than family bathrooms. 3) The location of bathrooms: Couple bathrooms were usually located beyond dress rooms or powder rooms while family bathrooms were mostly located at the entrance side. 4) The shape of bathrooms: Shower booth was assumed to be in general vogue because family bathrooms, for the most part, were comprised of a flush toilet, a washstand and a shower booth. In the case of couple bathrooms, a flush toilet, a washstand, a shower booth and a tub were generally equipped in more than twenty Pyeong's apartments while a tub was not installed in twenty Pyeong's apartments.

  • The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of individual virtues and couple's virtues on marital satisfaction. Virtues are the core characteristics valued by moral philosophers and religious thinkers: wisdom, courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence. Couple's virtues are the virtues being shared by husband and wife. In the current study, subjects consisted of 107 married couples living in Seoul and local areas in Korea. Each member of the couples was asked to fill out the questionnaires including short version of Values in Action-Inventory of Strengths(VIA-IS), couple's VIA-IS which is made out of VIA-IS to suit couples, and General Dissatisfaction Scale(GDS). Actor-Partner Interdependence Model was applied to assess the couple variables that are inter-dependent by nature. The results showed that couple's virtues had greater effects upon marital satisfaction than individual virtues did. The significance of possessing couple's virtues rather than individual virtues was discussed.

  • During the period of 1950s and 1960s extreme changes in political, economic, social and cultural environments had a great influence on family ethics, since the western civilization had been introduced to this nation in late 19th century. This paper studied the family ethics during the above periods by interviewing elders(average age 77) who had couple relations at that time focusing the followings. During the period, ① what is the view of family? ② what are the actual sapects and characteristics of married couple ethics? ③ what are the actual aspects and characteristics of the ethics between parents and their children? The results of this study are as follows; ① The indispensable requisite of the parents is a son who functions as the tool for enhancing social position of their family rather than succession of them. The nuclear family is regraded ideal, but the concept of nuclear family of them is far different from that of western. ② The married couples accepts the given couple relations in the name of bringing up their children. The ideal image of wife is traditional wifely virtues and that of husband is ability of making money. ③ The parents emphasize education and success of their children for enhancing the social position of their family, while they still require some degree of moral standards to their children. The parents believe that the best filial piety is making good lives of their children's own, which is somewhat different from the traditional filial piety norm.

  • The article brings the study of nonlocal, surface and the couple stress together to apparent the frequency retaliation of FG nanobeams (Functionally graded). For the examination of frequency retaliation, the article considers the accurate spot of neutral axis. This article aims to enhance the coherence of proposed model to accurately encapsulate the significant effects of the nonlocal stress field, size effects together with material length scale parameters. These considered parameters are assimilated through what are referred to as modified couple stress as well as nonlocal elasticity theories, which encompasses the stiffness-hardening and softening influence on the nanobeams frequency characteristics. Power-law distribution is followed by the functional gradation of the material across the beam width in the considered structure of the article. Following the well-known Hamilton's principle, fundamental basic equations alongside their correlated boundary conditions are solved analytically. Validation of the study is also done with published result. Distinct parameters (such as surface energy, slenderness ratio, as nonlocal material length scale and power-law exponent) influence is depicted graphically following the boundary conditions on non-dimensional FG nanobeams frequency.
