The meanings of colors vary with time and space. For the most important events in a person's life, such as wedding or funeral, people use color to symbolize their identities or roles. Traditionally, the colors of dress had indicated the wearer's age, class, or marital status in Korea. However, Korea's exposure to western cultures has affected in many dimensions of its modern history. Especially, influenced by social change, the traditional dress has undergone many modifications in forms, silhouettes, materials, and color. However, women's mourning dress has been maintained as a long lasting tradition and the use of white in mourning dress has been regarded as a norm until recently, while men have worn a regular black suit with a black tie. But, the shift from white to black in mourning dress has been observed in recent mourning practices. To examine this change of color in Korean traditional mourning dress, a historical approach utilizing multiple resources, such as interview, observations of events, documents, and archival records was applied.

This study is to consider both the eastern and western concepts of colors focusing on the five colors(Blue, Red, Yellow, White, Black) derived from the principles of Yang and the Five Elements, which are the traditional philosophy of the East and to analyze the modern fashion on the basis of the theoretical background. This study is summarized in the following. The eastern color concept has been formed by the influence of the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, which explain the generation and extinction of the universe. When it comes to the five colors, the symbolism of the east and west has much in common relatively. Concerning the rule of the five colors match, both the rules of the east and west are highly similar with each other. As mentioned above, the study shows that the five colors concepts and match rules between the east and west have much in common. There is a high possibility to connect the compatibility and incompatibility of the eastern five colors with scientific western theory of color harmony.

In the East color is deeply related to man's feelings or emotional status. This is relevant to the peculiar naturalistic thoughts of the East and concretely speaking is based upon the idea of Yin Yang and Five Elements that has dominated the spiritual world of the East. We can see costumes of the Three Kingdoms era or Koryo dynasty on the murals of ancient tomb presume their social backgrounds through remains of the past and find out the existence of Saekdong. Chosun dynasty shows a wonderful growth of fashion not only in dress but also in such accessories as patchwork wrapping-cloth and Saekdong which imply a lot on formation or color arrangement. Saekdong which we can see throughout many Eastern countries is a representative image that has been forming and expressing our race's color emotions for a long time. Saekdong to become worldwidely used. And this study has attempted modernistic expressions with Saekdong.

The fabric, 100% Silk, was dyed with Atractylodes japonica extract solution. The effects of concentration of extracts (colorant), temperature of dyeing, time of dyeing and pH of dye bath were studied. As the concentration of extracts increased, color strength (K/S value) increased progressively. The K/S values increased with raising temperature, time and proper conditions were $80^{\circ}C$ and 80 minutes. Maximum K/S value was obtained at pH 3. The K/S values of mordanted fabrics were increased with increasing mordant concentration up to specific values. Surface color of dyed and mordanted fabrics were yellowish. Light color fastness of fabric with mordanting was fairly good 3/4 rating. The mordanted silk fabrics showed excellent antibacterial activity. The silk fabric dyed with Atractylodes japonica extract showed a superior UV protective property.

This paper surveys the mordanting and dyeing properties of Sophora japonica L. Appropriate extraction, dyeing and mordanting condition of Sophora japonica L. were determined, and the effect of mordanting method on dye uptake and color fastness of dyed fabric was investigated. The maximum absorbance of Sophora japonica L. solution was 367.6mn, rutin solution was 365.6mn. The color of Sophora japonica L. solution was affected at pH 2 and pH 8~9. The optimum temperature to extract Sophora japonica L. was during 1 hour in 8$0^{\circ}C$. The effective dyeing temperature and time of silk were 10$0^{\circ}C$, 60min. K/S value of dyeing fabrics was increased by pre-mordanting treatment, especially Fe, Sn, Cr. In the case of Sophora japonica L. light fastness was increased by Fe mordanting. Perspiration fastness was better in acidic solution than that in alkaline solution. Fastness to rubbing and dry-cleaning were good in general.

This purpose of present study was to examine the figures and colors of hanbok textile. The data were collected from 489 pieces selling at hanbok shops in Taegu pusan and were analysed. Result of this study was as follows: 1) Figures As the hanbok figures tradition figures were used a great many among the figures. The next was natural geometric abstract figures. The reactionism trend was worthy of notice in figures and traditional design occupied most of them. 2) Color In the hue, YR, R, RP group were used concentratedly. Because 5,6,7 level were used a great many among the value value was represented lightly more than midium light. Because 2,3,4 level were used a great many among the chroma chroma was represented duller than midium chroma. Thus hanbok color was used mainly in a several party and korean were tendancy to like natural the sence of color.

Animation character market in Korea has been dominated by licensed characters (e.g., Walt Disney′s) of which market share is 80%. While market share for Korean characters such as "Mashimaro" and "Little Dinosaur Dooly" is increasing, the application of such characters to fashion products is still limited. For the development of the Korean character market, application of original animation characters should be applied to various fashion products. The main purpose of this study was to design toddler apparel line using "Little Dinosaur Dooly," one of the most popular domestic animation characters. The design focus is the green color of Dooly because the color is the distinctive concept of the brand. Results of the study indicated that developing toddler apparel line with a Korean animation character was a meaningful attempt, as imported licensed characters were dominant in domestic fashion market. The key differentiating factor was the use of green color. In addition, use of various supporting characters, namely Dooly′s friends, demonstrated potential line extension forming animation character groups similar to Warner Brothers′"Looney Tunes."

Based on an investigation of Miao ethnic group costumes, this research focuses on redesigning and reinterpreting of the Miao costume. The results are summarized as follows. According to the constitution of the clothes, the decorative parts and the way people wear them, women's clothing can be divided into five categories: Sangseohyeong, Geomjungnamhyeong A, Geomjungnamhyeong B, Cheongeomjeonhyeong, Haenamhyeong. Miao consists of straight lines with creases for both skirts and trousers. With the excess part of the belt or apron, X-shape and H-shape are formed. There are three basic decorative patterns: geometric patterns, animal patterns and plant patterns. In addition, there are three color values: warm, cool and dark. Silver Jewelry plays such an important role in the Miao Costume that the process of the production is also very special for the Chinese national dress. According to the features of the five types of Miao, then redesign and re-interpreted of them.

The purpose of this study was to present adapting Korean beauty to the design of Wedding dress. For this study, Chosun Men's Pyoeui(coat) were considered first. Pyoeui had the courtesy and variety. They were Jobog, Danryeong. Chulrlk, Dabho, Jangeui, Aegjueumpo, Jigryeong, Changeui, Changos, Jungchimag, Hagchangeui, Simeui, Dopo, and Durumagi. Pyoeui were considered the formative features and the costume beauty describing Shape, Color, Material, Pattern. and Ornament. And Pyoeui were considered the instances which were adapted their formative features to Wedding dress. The formative features appearing on Wedding dress were merely applied the outward shape. Therefore it will be necessary to understand the outward features and the costume beauty about Men's Pyoeui for adapting Wedding dress. And then the continuous attempt is needed to adapt the beauty of Korean costume to the design of Wedding dress.

The purpose of this study was to provide a formative charateristics by analyzing aesthetic charateristics of Egypt costume expressed in contemporary fashion. The result of this study obtained through this process were as follows. Aesthetic characteristics were expressed as a primative-retro characteristics, and a erotic-retro characteristics and a decorative-retro characteristics. Based on these trends, this study analyzed formative charateristics in an aspect of form, color, material, and decoration. In the modern fashion, unlike the H-line silhouette given by a natural fit in the primitive retro, the erotic retro was characterized in the shape by a tight H-line silhouette. For the color, peach, yellow green, gold, light blue, red, and black were used as the main color. For the material, see-through, gauze, mesh, organdy, and tight vinyl were utilized to emphasize an erotic image and expose a body secretly. For the decoration, the characteristic of erotic retro using the simple or same colors frequently was the use of similar accessories colors matched with material colors. The decorative retro was characterized in the shape by a H-line silhouette connected as a part of clothing which applied passium and a greatly modified silhouette from an Egyptian simple style which was well-matched with splendid accessories. For the color, the broadest range of color changes was found from light pastel such as white, yellow, light pink, burnt orange, blue, purple, silver, gold, and red to strong vivid tones. For the material, modern materials such as organdy, tulle, leather, and furs were often used. For the decoration, passium, an eagle pattern, scarab earrings, a crown, a sneak-shaped coronet, and pictograph printed on the fabric were frequently used.
