  • In this study, which is the basis for industrial presses to target small and medium enterprises with production information system is designed. Production information in real time on-site digitizing and transmitting data to a standard PC is to base operations. Personnel management, safety management, production management is to increase the efficiency. Therefore, at low cost is to encourage computerization within the company. These embedded systems and wireless communication module has a database management program installed in order to raise productivity and competitiveness will improve.

  • The change of the transportation circumstance related to the deep environmental pollution, escalation of the energy price, increasing social cost of the congestion and traffic accident, improving a income level, advanced social structure etc, is rapidly proceeded. For the corresponding this transportation circumstance, the role of the railway is being increased and that is friendly with environment, efficient for the energy, observed the time schedule and the transportation device which is high speed and safe mass transportation. In addition, government's R&D investment is being increased according to deeping a strength of the international competitiveness through the technical innovation. So railway's R&D investment is being increased. Accordingly, This study suggest improving a fruit of the R&D related to railway R&D system for a efficient R&D investment.

Firms' Strategic Standardization : A Case Study by their Management Objectives (전략적 표준화의 유형별 기업사례분석)

  • In the knowledge and network economy, standards and standardization become an important factor in determining the competitiveness of nations and firms. This paper analyses some cases of firms' strategic standardization. We defined the concept of standards, standardization, strategic standardization, and standardization management, which have been unfamiliar in the academic society. The standardization strategy can be categorized into four types according to firm's management objectives or benefits, including technological innovation, market creation/extension. cost-down, and accreditation. This classification of standardization strategy is very useful in analysing the various kinds of the cases of strategic standardization implementation. We found that standards and standardization have a positive influence on firm's overall performance. In some cases, for example, Dell Computer, Sun Microsystems, Deere & Company, etc., strategic standardization plays a role as a key success factor(KSF).

  • The objective of this paper is to propose additional features for the success of the Internet-based stock trading companies in Korea which attempt to improve competitiveness in the stock trading market. Literature about this issue has been rarely reported. To clarify our research intention, therefore, we surveyed 24 stock trading companies which support the Internet-based stock trading systems, and gathered data about appropriate Internet business model which is deemed promising and effective in the future. Analysis results revealed that besides cheap trading transaction cost, those additional features such as convenience, reliability, speed delay, superiority, and profitability are also important as well for the success of the Internet-based stock trading.

  • Companies are reluctant to disclose information because of trade secret and corporate identity For the same reasons, logistics companies do not want to operate in the form of a community In urban areas, the loading of vehicles is 100% as the quantity of goods transported is too much. In mountain areas, however, the load condition of the vehicle is not 100% because of the low quantity of goods transported Therefore, the transportation costs will increase as the cost of transport increase, the competitiveness of firms will also decline In this paper, we studied a simulation to measure driving time and volume of cargo according to the change of the quantity of goods transported in the mountain area According to the research results, we got a conclusion that the proposed method makes the operation time be less and the volume of cargo increase compared with the existing operation method.

  • Great effort has been exerted to redesign the supply chain network as a means to improve corporate competitiveness. In this study, we present a mathematical model and a solution system to help redesign corporate logistics networks. The objective of the model is to minimize total logistics costs. We applied the solution system to real problem cases. We use the model and the concept to develop decision support system that is based on C++ with the use of CPLEX callable library as a solution engine. We tested and verified the DSS for redesigning the network of a large Korean electronics company. Through various scenario analyses. we recommend to redesign their supply chain network that demonstrates the possibility of substantial logistics cost savings.

  • Both supply chain management and safety management contribute to strengthening a company's competitiveness. However, there is no previous research that considers supply chain management and safety management simultaneously The objective of this research is to study on application of safety management to supply chain. In this paper, the concept of supply chain safety management is defined. Based on the concept of supply chain safety management, supply chain safety management model is developed that consists of supply safety management, production safety management, storage safety management, and distribution safety management. In order to apply supply chain safety management, a methodology is developed that consists of four phases. Applying the supply chain safety management model, it is expected a company to lower cost as well as to raise customer satisfaction level.

  • Many SMEs have adopted ASP models which have brought various benefits to SMEs such as decreasing the total cost, using new IT technology, enhancing the maintenance, and implementing the information systems rapidly. Ministry of Information and Communication had implemented the ASP diffusion project for the ASP venders and SMEs between 2001 and 2003. As results of this project, various industries adopted the ASP applications of which the performance was enhanced, and then the competitiveness of the ASP vendors in Korea was increased. The purpose of this study is to make a strategy of the penetration into China market for ASP services which have competitive advantages. This study uses various research methods such as questionnaire survey, visiting SMEs in china and making interviews. This study shows the current status of Chines ASP market, the several cases of using ASP services, and questionnaire analyses(service recognition, service requirement and factors and infrastructure, business environment and supporting organizations etc) of ASP demand. And finally this study proposes several strategic considerations in entering China market and suggests several support policies for supporting Korean ASPs.

  • a-Si process-based advanced-SPC (a-SPC) TFT has been developed and verified by manufacturing an AMOLED panel having improved cost competitiveness by using the existing a-Si infrastructure. The a-SPC TFT had superior device reliability and current drivability to a-Si TFT to meet the requirements of AMOLED backplane.

  • Within industry induction motors have a broad application area to drive pumps, fans, elevators and electric trains. Sudden failures of such machines can cause the heavy economical losses and the deterioration of system reliability. Based on the reliability and cost competitiveness of driving system (motors), the faults detection and the diagnosis of system are considered very important factors. In order to perform the faults detection and diagnosis of motors, the vibration monitoring method and motor current signature analysis (MCSA) method are emphasized. In this paper, MCSA method are used for induction motor fault diagnosis. This method analyzes the motor's supply current, since this diagnoses faults of the motor. The diagnostic algorithm is based on the principal component analysis(PCA), and the diagnosis system is programmed by using LabVIEW and MATLAB.
