An offshore wind power plant (WPP) is very expensive and different from an onshore wind power system in many ways. There has been a continuous increase in the capacity of the offshore WPPs. Therefore it is essential to analyze the feasibility and reliability of the offshore wind power to optimize their redundancy. Besides, it is very important to study a planning for grid interconnection of adjacent offshore WPPs. This paper proposes a economic evaluation method to interconnect with adjacent offshore substations in offshore wind power grid. Also, we suggest the probabilistic reliability method to calculate a probabilistic power output of the wind turbine and a cost of the expected energy not supplied that is used as the reliability index of the power system.

Along with the legalization of balcony extension, numerous contractors have been suggesting designs for apartment houses based on the residents desire for balcony extension. It has been investigated that most residents prefer the balcony extension due to the increase in space. However, numerous residents have been experiencing problems occurred due to the extension such as air conditioning and heating cost and sound insulation problems. Therefore, this study aims to suggest an objective decision making tool for the residents that aids the residents decision making on balcony extension considering pros and cons of balcony extension.

Considering the supply system and operating cost of enterprises which are in the supply chain as the main index, this paper establishes a supply chain evaluation model, and utilizes Arena building stimulation model of the supply chain which considers manufacturing enterprises as the core of supply chain. This model designs a generic simulation model of the supply chain including multi-level distributors and suppliers. And the model analyzes a representative example of business process, one of the enterprises in Shandong.

The inspection of track irregularity, which is the most important index for the evaluation of the dynamic safety of the rolling stock, is performed by setting up the testing train set. The self-diagnosis for the various rolling stocks and railways can be obtained if it is possible to take the simultaneous inspection of track irregularity for the commercial vehicle while it is running and to build up a dynamic safety evaluation system. It is expected to have some good effects, such as preventing accident with the low dynamic safety, cutting cost for the testing train set and evaluating the exact influence on the rolling stock and railway. In this study, innertial measuring method, which allows us to directly measure the track irregularity from the commercial vehicle, will be considered and some overseas cases will be explored as well.

Existing methods to process continuous range queries are not scalable. In particular, as the number of continuous range queries on a large number of moving objects becomes larger, their performance degrades significantly. We propose a novel query indexing method called the projected attribute bit (PAB)-based query index. We project a two-dimensional continuous range query on each axis to get two one-dimensional bit lists. Since the queries are transformed to bit lists and query evaluation is performed by bit operations, the storage cost of indexing and query evaluation time are reduced significantly. Through various experiments, we show that our method outperforms the containment-encoded squares-based indexing method, which is one of the most recently proposed methods.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the housing affordability of multi-family dwelling in Seoul and to systemize the housing expenditure patterns and housing affordability according to household and housing characteristics. Housing expenditures are basically composed of the payments of four major items. including utilities. home alteration and interior furnishing. home mortgage debt. and monthly rent. Housing affordability index as operationally defined in this study is Housing Expenditure-to-Income Ratio (HEIR). The ratios were computed for each of the four housing expenditure items. Data for 465 multi-family dwellers were gathered from the structured questionnaire. The results showed the differences between household and housing characteristics on housing expenditure levels and HEIR. In addition. this differences had influence on future housing choice behavior. The analysis on the variables of housing choice behavior showed the result that user cost considering capital gains were less important. comparing those of early 1990's.

This study concerns the. new equation of concrete strength by schmidt hammer test. There are not only few estimate strength equations of concrete by schmidt hammer test, but also many problems to apply them because of time, cost, easiness, structural damage, reliability and so on. For this study, there performed a series of schmidt hammer test with in existing 730days' concrete structures and proposed equations as follows; $$Linear\;:\;f_{ck}=2.18R-40.54\;(r^2=77.7\%)$$ $$Quadratic\;:\;f_{ck}=0.076R^2-2.92R+40.04\;(R^2= 85.5\%)$$ here, fck : Estimated compressive strength of concrete by MPa, R : Rebound index of concrete.

This paper proposes a novel method for determining the kind and rating of power quality solutions. To determine the kind of solution, event cause and direction are utilized. According to the event cause and direction, an adequate type of solution is determined for effective compensation. To rate the required capacity of solution, the concept of lost energy is adopted. Lost voltage, lost power and lost energy are calculated and the rating of the solution is determined to compensate a specific event. The rating method that utilizes the result of stochastic diagnosis is also proposed. A power quality index such as CP95 is adopted for solution suggestion. The method developed in this paper is applied to the test system and proved to be useful for enhancing the power quality of the customer system. It can provide customers with information pertaining to what is a proper and cost-effective solution among various compensating devices.

This study presents an input filter resonance mitigation method for an AC-DC matrix converter. This method combines the advantages of the one-cycle control strategy and the active damping technique. Unnecessary sensors are removed, and system cost is reduced by employing the grid-side input currents as feedback to damp out LC resonance. A model that includes the proposed method and the input filter is established with consideration of the delay caused by the actual controller. A zero-pole map is employed to analyze model stability and to investigate virtual resistor parameter design principles. Based on a double closed-loop control scheme, the one-cycle control strategy does not require any complex modulation index control. Thus, this strategy can be more easily implemented than traditional space vector-based methods. Experimental results demonstrate the veracity of theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed approach.

With the advancement of superconductor materials, especially in HTC YBCO(Gen II), the feasibility of SMES in power systems become much higher than previous days application[1]. Also, with the de-regulation of electricity market, it is indispensable to have a proper estimation of power quality index and power quality cost calcluation mechanism to stabilize highly industrialized society and to vitalize the investment for electric power system. This paper suggests a comprehensive algorithm[2] to determine the policy of SMES investment with the PQ Indices[3] based on aggregated load CBEMA curve reflecting the voltage characteristics such as volatge sags and interruptions which make electric load in unstable operation.
