김환기 작품 속 우주를 품은 '청색'의 색채 상징성 (A Study on the Color Symbols of 'Blue' Embracing the Universe in Kim Whanki's Art Works)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 김환기 작품 '우주'에 사용된 청색의 상징을 분석하고 고찰하여 추상미술을 깊고 풍부하게 감상하는 것에 있다. 연구 목적을 실현하기 위한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째 김환기 작품 '우주'는 어떤 의미와 상징을 담고 있는가이며 둘째 우주를 품은 '청색'은 어떤 의미와 상징을 담고 있는가이다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌연구를 통한 그림분석이다. 본 연구의 결과 김환기 작품 '우주'는 우주에 대한 내향적이며 수행적 표현으로 끊임없는 움직임, 순환, 반복을 보여주는 우주심을 담고 있었고 우주를 품은 '청색'의 주된 상징은 천상과 지하세계를 반복적으로 순환하는 푸른 소우주로서 작가의 환희와 절망을 한몸에 담고 하나의 전체를 향하는 내면을 담고 있었다.

가사도 폐염전의 식생 현황에 관한 생태학적 연구 (Ecological Studies on the Vegetation of Abandoned Salt field in Gasado)

  • 본 조사는 2002년 7월부터 9월까지 진도군 가사도에서 도서연안 폐염전의 식생 현황을 조사하기 위하여 Braun-Blanquet and Elenberg의 방법에 따라 21개의 방형구(1${\times}$1m, 1${\times}$2m)를 설치하여 생태학적 조사하였다. 조사된 폐염전의 관속식물은 17과 48종이며, 이중에서 염생식물은 20종(42%), 중성식물은 28종 (58%)이 나타났다. 또한 폐염전에서 서식지의 교란은 염생식물의 교란으로 나타났으며, 이 지역에서 귀화식물은 오리새, 달맞이꽃, 망초, 코스모스 등의 23종이 분포하고, 이중에서 중성식물이 20종(71%) 분포하고 있었다. 식생군락은 염생식물 초지군락은 갯질경군락, 갯개미자리군락, 칠면초군락, 습지 초지군락은 갈대군락, 천일사초군락, 가는잎모새달군락, 중성 초지군락은 실망초군락과 갯당근군락 등으로 구분되었다. 각 군락들의 폐염전에서 식생의 구조, 분포, 변화에 대해서 설명하고, 식생표와 현존식생도를 작성하였다.

Discussing Architecture and the City as a Metaphor for the Human Body : From Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, Leon Battista Alberti, Andrea Palladio to Other Renaissance Architects

  • This thesis explores Vitruvius and his impact upon other Renaissance architects who compare a city to a building or a building to a city, who match the city and the building into a human body, and who develop their own works. The objective of this study is to furnish an interpretation of their theory and practice through their literature and designs. In this point of view, this article takes notice of Vitruvius's six concepts coined from venustas and divides them into two parts: i.e. aesthetic quality (ordinatio, dispositio, and distributio) and technical activity (eurythmia, symmetria, and $d{\acute{e}}cor$) each. This thesis indicates that Vitruvius's successive impacts from the concepts bring about concrete design principles through proportional measurements, placing together, and hierarchic values for the former, as well as appropriate use through beautiful look, symmetrical harmony, and appropriate uses for the latter, tracking notions between a city as a house and vice versa, and either the ideas of the house or the city in the synthesis of the human body, which follows the perfect number and module based on the human body. The thesis shows that the representations of architecture and the city take place with the form of a circle and a square that express the religious belief and the cosmos, substantiating the connection between the proportions of the human body and numbers, and ultimately satisfying a concept of centrality, which is slowly extended to the enclosed plaza at the urban level from chambers, atrium, and corridors at the residence level.

한국인의 전통 죽음관 (Koreans' Traditional View on Death)

  • 한국인의 전통적 죽음관은 유교, 불교, 도교, 그리고 샤머니즘의 깊은 영향을 받았다. 유교에서는 죽음이 모든 생명이 겪는 자연스러운 운명이며, 죽음을 고민하기보다는 현세의 삶에 충실할 것을, 도교에서는 삶과 죽음이 크게 다르지 않으니 자연에 순응하여 살아갈 것을, 그리고 불교에서는 삶과 죽음이 모두 허상임을 깨달으면 궁극적인 진리에 도달하여 죽음을 극복할 수 있다는 가르침을 배웠다. 이러한 사상들은 한민족 고유의 샤머니즘과 결합하여 현세를 중시하지만 사후세계와 윤회전생을 믿는 태도를 낳기도 하였다. 이러한 모습들은 역사를 통해서 매우 다양한 내러티브들로 나타나며 현대 한국인들이 죽음을 맞는 모습에도 여전히 큰 영향을 미치고 있다.

Comparison of Seed Viability Among 42 Species Stored in a Genebank

  • This study was conducted to compare seed viability among 42 species after ten years of storage in the midterm storage complex ($4^{\circ}C$, 30-40% RH) at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAC) Korean genebank maintained by the Rural Development Administration (RDA), Republic of Korea and to suggest the relative seed longevity and suitable monitoring intervals. The germination data from initial tests and after ten years of storage were compared to measure changes in viability during storage. The decline in seed viability varied greatly among seeds from -11.5% for Triticum sp. to 80% for melon. Coriander, crowndaisy, safflower, cosmos, Chinesebellflower, waxgourd, melon, castorbean, Welch-onion, hollyhock, wild barley, and tallfescue showed significant decreases in viability of 34.2%, 73.4%, 36.5%, 30.0%, 40.2%, 71.3%, 80.0%, 65.9%, 45.5%, 51.4%, 53.0%, and 33.5%, respectively. Gardenpea, soybean, perilla, onion, wild rice, Italian-ryegrass, and pepper showed a 15-30% decline in viability, while the viability of morningglory, adzukibean, maize, and Capsicum sp. decreased by 15% to 5%. Chicory, radish, Chinese-cabbage, bottlegourd, watermelon, cucumber, pumpkin, Cucurbita sp., groundnut, kidneybean, clubwheat, sesame, wheat, Triticum sp., rice, barley, orchardgrass, buckwheat, and wild tomato showed changes in viability of <5%. The changes in storage viability also varied within families. The wild types of rice and barley showed rapid viability loss and presented different aspects from cultivars. Since seed viability of species, classified as index 1 or 2, showed germination losses >15% after ten years of storage, a viability test should be conducted with five year intervals, while species with germination loss of <15% (in index 3 or 4) can be retested at ten year intervals.

통행시간과 점유율 기반의 실시간 신호운영 알고리즘 (A Real-time Traffic Signal Control Algorithm based on Travel Time and Occupancy Rate)

  • 본 연구에서는 통행시간과 점유율의 융합 정보를 이용하는 새로운 실시간 신호제어 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 교통정보시스템의 통행시간 정보를 신호운영에 적용하였으며, 통행시간으로 부터 산정한 포화도를 신호제어에 이용하기 위한 프로세스를 개발하였다. 결정적 지체모형을 이용해 통행시간으로부터 대기행렬 길이를 생성하고, 대기행렬 길이를 다시 포화도로 변환하는 과정이 적용되었다. 또한 통행시간 기반 포화도와 루프검지기 포화도를 융합해 신호시간이 산정되도록 하였다. 신호제어 알고리즘의 효과평가를 위해 미시적 시뮬레이션 분석을 시행하였으며, 과포화 상태에서 기존 루프검지기 기반 실시간 신호제어 대비 최대 27%의 지체 감소 효과를 확인하였다. 또한 과포화 및 검지기 고장상황에 대한 효과적이고, 유용한 대응이 가능함을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 교통신호제어시스템과 교통정보시스템의 교통정보 통합이용 방안을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있겠다.

HPLC-MS/MS에 의한 사물탕의 지표성분 분석 (Analysis of Marker Substances in Samul-tang by HPLC-MS/MS)

  • Objectives : This study presents a high performance liquid chromatography - electrospray ionization-mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS/MS) methods for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of various active components in Samul-tang, which is composed of four crude herbs. Methods : HPLC-ESI-MS/MS for the determinations of paeoniflorin and 5-HMF (5-hydroxymethyl 2-furaldehyde) in the Samul-tang, the separation method was performed on an COSMOS1L 5C18-AR-Il (2.0 X 150 mm I.D.) column by gradient elution with 0.1% acetic acid and 5% CH3CN in water (A)-0.1% acetic acid and 5% H20 in CH3CN (B) as the mobile phase at a flow-rate of 300 ${\mu}L/min$ with detection at quadrupole mass spectrometer. The all marker substances were always detected as the base peaks in the positive ion mode. Results : The paeoniflorin of Paeoniae Radix in Samul-tang showed a strong base peak [M+H2O]+ in the positive detection mode to give the following as; paeoniflorin (498.109 [M+H2O]+, 479.8 [M]+, 301 [M-glucose]+, 179.3 [glucose]+). Based on the HPLC retnetion time and MS of standard compounds confirmed the identity of active compounds in Rehmanniae Radix Preparata as follows; 5-HMF (127.0[M+H]+, 109.3 [M-OH]+) in the positive ion mode. Conclusion : According to the above results, HPLC-ESI-MS method permits assignment of tentative structures such as paeoniflorin and 5-HMF in the Samul-tang.

국민학교 조경에 있어서의 식물이용체계에 관한 연구: 목포시내 15개 국민학교를 대상으로- (A Study on the Plant Using System of Elementary School Landscape : The Case Study on 15 Elementary Schools in Mokpo)

  • This study was conducted to find out the fundamentals for proper use of Planting system in the elementary school landscape. For this study, 70 text books were applied to quote the plants, planting situation of 15 elementary schools was surveyed, and 1,464 questionnaires were collected. The resultes and some proposals obtained are summarised as follows ; 1. Total of 177 plant species were quoted over all text books of the elementary school course. Among them, the woody species showed the highest in number with 58 and herbaceous were the next with 30, the other were vegetable of 29, food crops, weeds, industrial ornamentals crops and water plants in order. They were common species in this country and were easy to cultivate except few. 2. 210 species were planted at the 15 elementary schools in Mokpo. It was constituted of 77 of herbaceous species and 133 of woody species but localized Plants were little. The herbaceous plant frequently used were Chrysanthemum morifolium, Targests erecta, Salvia splendens, Petunia hybrida, Cosmos bipinnatus, Celosia cristata, Canna generalis, et. On the other hand in the woody species Juniperus chinensis var. kaizuka, Cerdus deodora, Camellia japonica, and in the shrub Serissa japonica, Thuja orientalis, Euonymus japonica, Buxus mrcrophylla var. koreana etc in order. Almost the same species of woody plants described above were planted in zone of I -IV. Therefore, many problems were found in aspect of aesthetics, and their function and growth. There was much differences in number of species and quantity of plants in each elementary school. However they were not associated with school size, location, and age of schools. Most of elementary schools did not have same the plants as they were represented in text brooks. Therefore, in view of educational purpose it needs to plant more species which quoted in text books.

  • At the beginning of 21st Century, human desire of communication is forwarding to the Cosmos The way of Communication is going to be not by simple methodology but by the complicated methodology with high technology. It will not be monologue communication but be interactive communication, that will make intelligence Infra, which could be able to communicate from the location of information is present to which is not present; and the multi-media which will be able to solve the technical problems of these communication; will be developed continually. In the genre of plastic art, there are no exception in these changedness. More developed and proceed to develope intermedia could be able of intercommunication. The more development of technology could be able to the more development of new plastic art. Furthermore the development of science make the genre of art to be changed. There are no exception of this changedness in any part of society, The art always has been guided by the person who has proceeding idea for new value. The 21st century plastic art will be in the procedure of the intercommunication. Human-being's concern is to communicate with Universe, and that will be multi-dimension$(4{\cdot}5{\cdot}6{\cdot}7{\cdots}dimension)$ communication beyond our usual recognition. To conjoin this, the possibility of cyber space expressing is going to be considered, and the way is being done by the development of the Media Art, which is able to go and back to the cyber-space. And the message will be so complicate beyond our recognition. Because we will need to communicate with various newly-built vocabulary, so we need to magnify the repertories of new vocabulary.

태극권24식(太極拳24式)이 건가(健康)에 미치는 영향(影響)에 대한 소고(小考) (A study on the Effect of Health of the 24-Form Taegeukkwon)

  • Taegeuk is the source and union of the two primary aspects of the cosmos, Eum(陰, Yin) and Yang(陽). The Neo-Confucian philosophers of Chinese Song(宋) dynasty associated Taegeuk with the supreme rational principle of the universe. Taegeuk is a powerful blend of self-discipline, self-defense and healing. It is an art which has grown over the millennia to include hundreds of forms and variations, and can easily take a lifetime to master. Taegeukgwon based on the Taoist philosophies of Eum(陰, Yin) and Yang(陽) is an ancient Eastern form of exercises, characterized by slow reversing movements. There is strong research evidence validating Taegeuk as a safe form of exercise having potential for health promotion and rehabilitation. Today, Taegeukgwon has spread worldwide. The Internal Training of Taegeuk is one of the exercises for regiment. As exercise, Taegeukgwon is designed to provide relaxation in the process of body-conditioning exercise and is drawn from the principles of Taegeuk, notably including the harmonizing of the Eum-yang(陰陽, Yin-yang), respectively the passive and the active principles. It employs flowing, rhythmic, deliberate movements, with carefully individually prescribed stances and positions. In practice, two masters teach the system exactly alike. As a mode of attack and defense, Taegeukgwon resembles Kungfu and is properly considered a martial art. It may be used with or without weapons. Freehand exercise to promote health was practiced in Korea. This training proved to have effect on hypertension, enervation, impotence, premature ejaculation, seminal emission, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, and arteriosclerosis. There have been many schools of Taegeukgwon. Depending on school and master, the number of prescribed exercise forms varies from 24 to 108 or more. The objective of this paper is to reconsider Taegeukgwon and its effect on the body and mind-conditioning in Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經).
