  • In this paper, the inverter air-conditioner with Power Factor Correction(PFC) circuit is Presented for obtaining the good system efficiency and cost merit compared with the conventional inverter air-conditioner. The detailed design procedures for getting the optimal passive components are implemented. Through the simulation and experimental results, it is shown that the system efficiency can be improved. Using the designed components, the prototype system is builted and tested to verify the additional good performances of the proposed circuit.

  • This paper describes for reducing harmonic distortion on CO2 welding machine with nonlinear load characteristic using single-switch three-phase AC/DC converter. The low-order harmonic component amplitude of the phase current of single-switch three-phase discontinuous mode is calculated. Experimental results show that CO2 welding machine with single-switch three-phase AC/DC converter is effectively controlled with power factor correction for phase current during welding time.

  • We investigate the test for model adequacy in nonlinear regression. We can expect the usual likelihood ratio statistic to be unaffected by any parametric- effect curvature; only the effect of intrinsic curvature needs to be considered. Multiplicative correction factor is derived for the limiting distribution of test statistic, which is a function of the intrinsic curvature arrays.

  • A new correlation predicting the idealized critical mass-flow rates of water for subcooled and saturated liquid water including two-phase water flow was developed for a wide range of upstream stagnation pressures (e.g., 0.5-20.0 MPa). A choking correction factor dependent on the upstream stagnation pressure and subcooled temperature was introduced into a new correlation, and its values were suggested to satisfy the idealized nozzle data within 10% error ranges. The suggested correlation will be instructive and helpful for related studies and/or engineering works.

  • The results of analysis of simply supported reinforced concrete slab by special orthotropic plate theory have been reported. This method, however, may be too difficult for some practising engineers. In this paper, the result of analysis of such a plate by means of the beam theory with unit width is reported. By using the "correction factor", the accurate solution for the plate can be obtained by the beam theory. The plate aspect ratio considered is from 1 : 1 to 1 :6

  • For prediction of railway noise, propagation characteristics must be identified as well as the source characteristics. During the railway noise in outdoor pass the air, various factors affect the propagation. In this study, to suggest more effective and convenient equation to predict railway noise, calculation method for correction factor was investigated.

  • This paper describes the criterias to evaluate arousal states of subject and these are applied to contort arousal level. Correction factor was introdued to compensate under or over evaluated Nz due to the different initial basal skin impedance. These criteria and correction factor were worked well to increase the arousal level.

  • This paper presents the performance and efficiency of a drive system incorporating a switched-reluctance motor (SRM) with input power factor correction (PFC). The proposed system consists of a PFC, bi-directional converter, an inverter, and a SRM operating as based voltage source drives (VSD). First, theoretical analysis is made for each identified mode of operation in the drive system. This is followed by comparing the performance of the SRM drive system with and without a PFC circuit. The losses are also calculated for both systems and overall efficiency. Experimental results are presented to prove the theoretical analysis.

  • Active power factor correction methods for electronic ballast are reviewed in this paper. PFC technology becomes more important due to various wattage ratings of new light sources. Expecially, most popular two method critical conduction mode and average mode, are described. Each characteristics are compared in relation to application target and power rating.

  • When Power Factor Correction(PFC) boost converter is designed for the universal input range, unwanted burst operation can be found at high line and light load. This operation may cause an audible noise from the boost inductor or sensitive flicker for human eye can be found in case of the display application. In order to solve this difficulty, this paper proposes the new control range compensation method and shows the effectiveness than the conventional method thru the experimental result.
