  • In electrode-less lamp, The key point in creating an efficient light source based on RF discharge is to minimize the RF power loss in the RF coupler which for Anderson's type of RF lamp is due to losses in the ferrite core. This loss depends on the particular ferrite material, its size, geometry, frequency in this kind of inductive lamp shows that the correct choice of discharge current has a crucial effect on the core loss. In this study, we measured Ferrite temperature in normal state, then analyzed electrical and optical characteristics according to ferrite shape. We were able to know that was ferrite of the antenna had relate closely with temperature and luminous of the lamp. Also we appraised temperature and electrical, optical properties during turn on the lamp.

  • We calculate characteristics of the linear synchronous propulsion system by the finite element analysis. The finite element method using voltage source can consider the ripple factor caused by the core shape and the distored wave of stator currents caused by the core shape and the back e.m.f. The TRANSRAPID-06 system developed by Germany is adoped for the numerical example.

  • Slicing Radio Access Network (RAN) can help in effectively utilizing the network bandwidth and to better manage the increasing traffic over interent. RAN slicing system discussed in this paper is based on an open-source slicing mechanism in which we write a JSON configuration file for slicing policy and send it to the FlexRAN controller. FlexRAN controlls the core networks (CNs) through OAI-RAN on the evolved packet core (EPC) component of this system. Each CN is responsible for handling a saperate RAN slice. The type of internet traffic is identified by the FlexRAN crontroller and is sent to the respective CN through OAI-RAN. CN handles the traffic according to the allocated bandwidth and in this way the internet traffic is sliced inside the EPC component.

  • Due to high permeability of the ferrite core, the characteristics of the ICP are expected to be greatly improved. We investigated the effect of the ferrite cores on conventional inductively coupled plasma. It was observed that the current and voltage in ike ICP antenna are slightly decreased and the power transfer efficiency is increased. However, due to eddy current and hysterisis loss, plasma density in the ICP with the ferrite cores is not increased. It seems that the ICP with the ferrite cores at low frequency (${\~}$100kHz) will be greatly improved since the losses at the low frequency can be negligible.

  • Power density distribution and criticality of a pressurized water reactor are calculated with a Monte Carlo calculation using the MCNP code. The MCNP model is based on one-eighth core symmetry. Individual fuel assemblies are modeled with fullscope three dimensional description except grid spacer. The fuel rod is divided into eight axial segments. Core internals above and below the active fuel region is represented as coolant. After 400 cycle calculations, the system converges to a k value of 1.09151$\pm$0.00066. Fission reaction rate in each rod is also calculated to use as the source term in pressure vessel fluence calculation.

  • As the number of multimedia applications increases, various protocols and architectures have been proposed to provide QoS(Quality of Service) guarantees in the Internet. Most of these techniques, though, bear inherent contradiction between the scalability and the capability of providing QoS guarantees. In this paper, we propose a protocol, named DQSP(Dynamic QoS Support Protocol), which provides the dynamic resource allocation and admission control for QoS guarantees in a scalable way. In DQSP, the core routers only maintain the per source-edge router resource allocation state information. Each of the source-edge routers maintains the usage information for the resources allocated to itself on each of the network links. Based on this information, the source edge routers perform admission control for the incoming flows. For the resource reservation and admission control, DQSP does not incur per flow signaling at the core network, and the amount of state information at the core routers depends on the scale of the topology instead of the number of user flows. Simulation results show that DQSP achieves efficient resource utilization without incurring the number of user flow related scalability problems as with IntServ, which is one of the representative architectures providing end-to-end QoS guarantees.

  • We briefly review the recent progress in passively mode-locked fiber lasers (PMLFLs) based on semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAMs) and discuss the detailed characterization of a SESAM-based, passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser operating in the 1.5-${\mu}m$ spectral range for various configurations. A simple and compact design of the laser cavity enables the PMLFL to generate either femtosecond or wavelength-tunable picosecond pulses with high stability as the intra-cavity filtering method is altered. All the cavities investigated in our experiments present self-starting, continuous-wave mode-locking with no Q-switching instabilities. The excellent stability of the source eventually enables the wavelength-tunable PMLFL to be used as a master oscillator for a power-amplifier source based on a large-core EDF, generating picosecond pulses of >10-kW peak power and >100-nJ pulse energy.

  • During earthquake, the motion of ground is affected significantly by source characteristics, source-to-site path properties and local site conditions. Due to the influence of local soil conditions different places experience distinctive amplitude of surface ground motion. Ground response analysis of a specific site utilizing the borehole information at different locations is done in present study. The ground motion with the highest peak ground acceleration for this site obtained from the ground response analysis is used in finite element soil-structure interaction analysis of multi-storey shear wall buildings with various positions of shear walls. The variation in seismic response of buildings and advantageous position of shear wall are determined. The study reveals that providing shear wall at the core of buildings at the specific site is advantageous among all shear wall configurations considered.

  • A detailed geothermal characteristics survey with numerical simulations of the heat transfer in a site for ground source heat pump system is necessary for deploying a shallow geothermal utilization system. Density, specific heat, thermal diffusivity, and thermal conductivity are measured on 91 core samples from a 300 m deep borehole in KIGAM(Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources). The heat flow is estimated from the thermal gradient and average thermal conductivity and the correlation between fracture system and hydraulic conductivity is analyzed. From the obtained ground information of the study site the performance of the ground heat pump system can be analyzed with some detailed numerical simulations for seasonal heat pump operation skill and optimal system design techniques.

  • In this paper the new converter topology using single-Phase full bridge inverter for the switched reluctance motor drives is proposed. The proposed SRM drives are supplied by the AC pulse voltage source, while the conventional drives are supplied by the DC voltage source. Speed of the SRM is controlled by adjusting the frequency and the multitude of output current of inverter. The SRM using the proposed converter reduces the switching loss and the machine core loss, and has ability to pre-regulate the input voltage. The total number of power switches become fewer than another topology as a number of stator poles becomes more. Power circuit of an inverter is simpler and its volume is smaller because the module device involving several switches is used as an inverter.
