In this paper, a novel high gain bidirectional modular dc-dc converter (BMC) with unipolar and bipolar structures for dc network interconnections is proposed. When compared with traditional dc grid-connecting converters, the proposed converter can achieve a high voltage gain with a simple modular transformerless structure. A sub-modular structure for the BMC is proposed to eliminate the unbalanced current stress between the different power units (levels) in the BMC. This can realize current sharing and standardized production and assembling. In addition, phase-interval operation is introduced to the sub-modules to realize low voltage and current ripple in both sides of the converter. Furthermore, two types of bipolar topologies of the sub-modular BMC were proposed to extend its application in bipolar dc network connections. In addition, the control system was optimized for grid-connection applications by providing various control strategies. Finally, simulations of a 3-level unipolar sub-modular BMC and a 4-level bipolar sub-modular BMC were conducted, and a 1-kW experimental 3-level unipolar prototype was developed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
We present a two-stage inverter with high step-up conversion ratio engaging modified finite-set Model Predictive Control (MPC) for utility-integrated photovoltaic (PV) applications. The anticipated arrangement is fit for low power PV uses, the calculated efficiency at 150 W input power and 19 times boosting ratio was around 94%. The suggested high-gain dc-dc converter based on Cockcroft-Walton multiplier constitutes the first-stage of the offered structure, due to its high step-up ability. It can boost the input voltage up to 20 times. The 3S current-source inverter constitutes the second-stage. The 3S current-source inverter hires three semiconductor switches, in which one is functioning at high-frequency and the others are operating at fundamental-frequency. The high-switching pulses are varied in the procedure of unidirectional sine-wave to engender a current coordinated with the utility-voltage. The unidirectional current is shaped into alternating current by the synchronized push-pull configuration. The MPC process are intended to control the scheme and achieve the subsequent tasks, take out the Maximum Power (MP) from the PV, step-up the PV voltage, and introduces low current with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and with unity power factor with the grid voltage.
A monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) chip set consisting of a power amplifier, a driver amplifier, and a frequency doubler has been developed for automotive radar systems at 77 GHz. The chip set was fabricated using a 0.15 ${\mu}$ gate-length InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs metamorphic high electron mobility transistor (mHEMT) process based on a 4-inch substrate. The power amplifier demonstrated a measured small signal gain of over 20 dB from 76 to 77 GHz with 15.5 dBm output power. The chip size is 2mm${\times}$ 2mm. The driver amplifier exhibited a gain of 23 dB over a 76 to 77 GHz band with an output power of 13 dBm. The chip size is 2.1mm${\times}$ 2mm. The frequency doubler achieved an output power of -6 dBm at 76.5 GHz with a conversion gain of -16 dB for an input power of 10 dBm and a 38.25 GHz input frequency. The chip size is 1.2mm ${\times}$ 1.2mm. This MMIC chip set is suitable for the 77 GHz automotive radar systems and related applications in a W-band.

In this paper, the implementations of a $0.1{\mu}m$ gallium arsenide (GaAs) pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor process for a low noise amplifier (LNA), a subharmonically pumped (SHP) mixer, and a single-chip receiver for 70/80 GHz point-to-point communications are presented. To obtain high-gain performance and good flatness for a 15 GHz (71 GHz to 86 GHz) wideband LNA, a five-stage input/output port transmission line matching method is used. To decrease the package loss and cost, 2nd and 4th SHP mixers were designed. From the measured results, the five-stage LNA shows a gain of 23 dB and a noise figure of 4.5 dB. The 2nd and 4th SHP mixers show conversion losses of 12 dB and 17 dB and input P1dB of -1.5 dBm to 1.5 dBm. Finally, a single-chip receiver based on the 4th SHP mixer shows a gain of 6 dB, a noise figure of 6 dB, and an input P1dB of -21 dBm.
Eighteen Murrah male buffalo calves were allotted into three groups of six each. The calves in group I (control) were fed with whole milk, skim milk, calf starter and green maize fodder. The calves in group II (high butyric acid) and group III (low butyric acid) were fed with the same diet as control along with 24 ml and 12 ml of butyric acid/calf/day for 120 days, respectively for 120 days. Dry matter intake was higher in group II and III as compared with group I. Digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fibre, ether extract, neutral detergent fibre, acid detergent fibre, cellulose and hemicellulose was the highest in group II followed by group III and the control group. Body weight gain and conversion efficiency of dry matter, digestible crude protein and total digestible nutrients were better in group II. Cost of feed for per unit of live weight gain was the lowest in group II. It was concluded that dietary addition of butyric acid (24 ml/day) was economical and had positive effect on the performance of Murrah buffalo calves.

Theoretical analysis is presented for expending of the usable frequency range of optoelectronic mixing detection in the radio over fiber network system. We define the normalized gain to evaluate the performance of the optical mixing detection, and conform the possibilities of detection for the high frequency signals beyond the cutoff frequency of a photodiode. Optical mixing detection mechanism is analyzed by solving the continuity equation for the carriers of a photodiode. The normalized gain is independent on the signal frequency and the frequency difference between the optical signal and the local signal. Also, the amplitude of the local signal and the bias voltage are needed to be optimized at the same time in order to maximize the normalized gain.
Renewable energy based on photovoltaic systems is beginning to play an important role to supply power to remote areas all over the world. Owing to the lower output voltage of photovoltaic arrays, high gain DC-DC converters with a high efficiency are required in practice. This paper presents a novel interleaved DC-DC boost converter with a high voltage gain, where the input terminal is interlaced in parallel and the output terminal is staggered in series (IPOSB). The IPOSB configuration can reduce input current ripples because two inductors are interlaced in parallel. The double output capacitors are charged in staggered parallel and discharged in series for the load. Therefore, IPOSB can attain a high step-up conversion and a lower output voltage ripple. In addtion, the output voltage can be automatically divided by two capacitors, without the need for extra sharing control methods. At the same time, the voltage stress of the power devices is lowered. The inrush current problem of capacitors is restrained by the inductor when compared with high gain converters with a switching-capacitor structure. The working principle and steady-state characteristics of the converter are analyzed in detail. The correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by experimental results.
The CMOS RF front-end for Global Positioning System(GPS)are implemented in 1P8M CMOS $0.13{\mu}m$ process. The LNAs consist of LNA1 with high gain and low NF, and LNA2 with low gain and high IIP3 for supporting operation with active and passive antenna. the measured performances of both LNAs are 16.4/13.8 dB gain, 1.4/1.68 dB NF, and -8/-4.4 dBm IIP3 with 3.2/2 mA form 1.2 V supply, respectively. The quadrature downconversion mixer is followed by transimpedance amplifier with gain controllability from 27.5 to 41 dB. The front-end performances in LNA1 mode are 39.8 dB conversion gain, 2.2 dB NF, and -33.4 dBm IIP3 with 6.6 mW power consumption.
This paper presents theoretical and practical details about the design, implementation, and performance of a series resonant do-to-dc converter using planar magnetics. Result of sinusoidal analysis are used to predict the voltage gain and conversion efficiency. The performance of a prototype converter is presented including the efficiency measurement and theoretical loss breakdown.
A study was conducted to determine the effects of varying palm oil levels (0 to 8%) in the diets on the performance of broilers under the warm humid tropical environment. Increasing palm oil levels resulted in corresponding rise in the dietary energy concentrations, and broilers fed on higher energy diets improved feed and energy consumption, daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Total carcass fat content was found to increase at higher levels of palm oil inclusions.
