  • KTX is the high speed train which is designed for 300km/h in maximum operation speed. But its long train set may cause unstable characters as swaying of the tail of a train and when the train is running on conventional line, its running safety is a point to be considered cautiously. In this study, we evaluated the running safety by the numerical analysis using VAMPIRE and compared the result with the test result of KHST, which is being in performance tests, for verifying the validity of analysis results

  • In the maglev system, accurate train position is essential for safe and efficient train operation. Train positioning systems in the maglev systems are different from conventional railway system because railway train has no wheels. And various train positioning principles and systems have been used in maglev systems. In this paper, we study several positioning principles and systems on adapting existing various maglev systems and analyze functional structure of absolute positioning system in ultra high speed maglev system. Then we propose development scheme on absolute positioning system for developing ultra high speed maglev system.

  • This paper describes the development or a closed-loop Strapdown Attitude Reference System (SARS) algorithm integrated filtering estimator for determining attitude reference for railway and aviation system using fuzzy inference. The SARS consists of 3 single-axis rate gyms in conjunction with 2 single-axis accelerometers. For optimal values of fuzzy systems, we utilize on-line scheduling method for initial values and then use genetic algorithms for fine tuning. Implementation using experimental test data of unmanned aerial vehicle has been performed in order to verify the estimation. The proposed fuzzy inference based SARS demonstrate that more accurate performance can be achieved in comparison with conventional one. The estimation results were compared with the on-board vertical gyro as the reference standard.

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper developed 3 Dimensional Digital Mock-UP using PDM(product data managemnet) to make a system engineering of TTX(tilting train express) wiht maximum operation speed 180 km/h.

  • Magnetic Sensors can be employed to localize the unmanned vehicle which is running a predefined path where magnets are embedded for certain spaces. Among various sensor types, sensor arrays of 1-dimensional magnetic sensor have the merit of easy elimination of external magnetic component such as terrestrial magnetism. However, interpolation should be considered in the array sensors in order to increase the precision level because there is a limit in arranging sensors in close interval. We propose the novel interpolation method which can be performed with simple computation and represents the improved accuracy by increasing the linearity of the interaction formula. Demonstration of the linearity and simulation results show the proposed method exhibits the improved accuracy compared to the conventional method.

  • The wind load equation for the design of electric power facilities such as electrical pole in railroad is based on the maximum wind velocity without considering regional difference in wind velocities. Also, the use of a different equation to highspeed railroad and the possibility of higher wind speed due to climate change claims a new design equation. In this paper, a wind load equation based on wind speed measurement data to date, which is applicable to both conventional and highspeed railroad is proposed. The proposed equation considers the regional differences in wind speed for economic and effective design, and the possibility of higher wind speed due to climate change.

  • In this paper, the design characteristics, the manufacturing process and the results of performance test on the AC traction motor for urban transit standard E.M.U which is newly developed with applying standardization specification will be introduced. It is reviewed that the design and performance analysis on conventional motors considering system correlation and design constraint and the design optimization through an analysis of electro-magnetic, thermal and dynamic properties. The properties of factory products manufactured by 200 Class VPI process exhibit a excellent performance with a lower noise and vibration, higher efficiency and power factor etc.
