A Numerical Study on Effective Smoke-Control System of a Rescue Station in a Tunnel Fire (터널내 열차 화재시 효과적인 구난역 제연 설비를 위한 수치 해석 연구)

  • In designing smoke-control system of rescue station in train tunnel, a purpose is to prevent a disaster by proposing the jet fan operation together with smoke-control curtain in tunnel fire. This study has investigated the relationship of the Heat Release Rate(HRR) and a adequate ventilation velocity to control the fire propagation in tunnel fire, and has improved the effect of the smoke-control curtain on preventing the flow of pollutants. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulations with ST AR-CD(ver 3.24) were carried out on predicting the fire spreading and the flow of pollutants, considering jet fan operations and effect of smoke-control curtain. Our simulation domain is the full scale model of the 'DAEGWALLYEONG' 1st tunnel. The results represent that ventilation operation can control the fire spreading and pollutants effectively to prevent a disaster.

  • In this study, a robust controller to control pressure in a pneumatic pressure vessel considering dynamic characteristics of pneumatic transmission line is proposed. Dynamic characteristics of transmission line using compressible fluid is changed by the flowing states of the fluid. So, if the fixed gain controller is designed based on a fixed model, the performance of the control system could be destabilized or degraded. The controller designed in this study is composed of two parts. The one is to reject modelling error based on the disturbance observer, the other is to obtain the control performance. The control results with the designed controller show that the robustness of the control system is achieved regardless of the change of the model of the transmission line. Therefore, the designed controller can be utilized for the performance improvement of the pressure control system using compressible fluid such as air and gas

  • In this paper, a temperature control for LED(Light Emitting Diode) lamp using a cooling fan is studied. An efficient temperature control scheme for the LED lamp using the fan wind at the lowest sound noise is studied. Also, for minimization study of sound noise and temperature control of an LED lamp, a sequential control algorithm using the cooling fan at the lowest sound noise is presented. For the study, after measurement of the minimum sound noise of the fan and related temperature of the LED lamp through tests, experiments on temperature control of the LED lamp using the fan was performed.

  • In this study, we establish bootstrap control limits for EWMA chart by applying the bootstrap method, called resampling, which could not demand assumptions about pre-distribution when the process is skewed and/or the normality assumption is doubt. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows : bootstrap EWMA control chart is developed for applying bootstrap method to EWMA chart, which is more sensitive to small shifts of process. With the purpose of eliminating a skewness of the resampling distribution, the bootstrap control limits are established by using a modified residual, and its performance is analyzed by ARL. It is shown that the bootstrap EWMA control chart developed in this study includes the properties of standard EWMA control chart that is sensitive to a small shift, and detects process in out of control more quickly than standard EWMA chart.

Structural Relationships Among Adolescents' Internet Addiction, Self-Esteem, Self-Control, and Aggression (청소년의 인터넷 중독, 자아존중감, 자기통제, 공격성간의 관계구조)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among adolescents' internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The participants were 300 students in their first year of middle school. The questionnaire consisted of measures of internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The major findings were as follows: 1) self-control had a direct effect on aggression; 2) internet addiction had a direct effect on self-esteem and self-control; 3) self-esteem had a direct effect on self-control; 4) internet addiction had an indirect effect on aggression and self-control; and self-esteem had an indirect effect on aggression. This study implied that self-related variables could mediate the relationship between the possibility of internet addiction and adolescents' aggression. This study also suggested that research on various mediator variables could reduce adolescents' psychosocial problems.

A Study on the Relationships between Children's Social Competence as Affected by Maternal Authority and Maternal Control Behavior (아동의 사회적 능력과 어머니의 권위, 통제와의 관계)

  • This study was performed to identify the predictability of maternal authority from the perspective of children's social competence and mothers' control behavior. The subjects of this study were 369 children from an elementary school in Mokpo. The results were as follows: 1) There were relationships among children's social competence and maternal control behavior and authority. 2) Children's social competence was explained by the maternal control behavior. Maternal imperative control nagatively effected the sociability among children's social competence. Maternal position control positively effected all the children's social competence. 3) Children's social competence was explained by the maternal authority. All maternal control types changed when maternal authority was included. The change of children's social competence was related due to maternal control plus maternal authority. This result illustrates that maternal authority exhibited a powerful effect on children's social competence.

Study of Temperature Dynamic Characteristics of Various Control Methods for MGO Chiller System (MGO Chiller 시스템의 제어 방식에 따른 온도 동특성 연구)

  • It is important that an MGO Chiller System, which is one of the sulfur oxide emission control technologies, is designed to meet the fuel temperature requirements, even with sudden engine load changes. Three different control algorithms (PI, Cascade, and MPC) were applied to an indirect MGO chiller system to compare and analyze the outlet temperature dynamic characteristics of the system through a case study. The results showed that the MPC control method had the best temperature following characteristics in the case study, and the temperature deviation range was reduced by approximately 5% compared to the PI control method.

  • In this study, control characteristics and energy performance with flow rate control methods were reviewed with the simulation. The heating system is classified such as fan coil unit and HVAC system currently used in buildings with valve control and pump inverter control. The simulation analysis program is made by TRNSYS ver. 15 with the actual data. As a result of this study, the central heating system with pump inverter control decreases electricity energy and reduces gas consumption. Inverter control method shows better performance in comparison with valve control one for energy saving.

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the application of radiant floor cooling and to evaluate the control methods through experiments when the radiant heating system is used for cooling. Through the experiment analysis the control methods such as on/off control, variable flow control and outdoor reset with indoor temperature feedback control are evaluated and compared. The cooling curve (reset ratio) is found for radiant cooling, which shows tole relation between outside air temperature and supply water temperature. Comparison of cooling methods shows that outdoor reset with indoor temperature feedback control is more appropriate than on/off control and variable flow control with regard to prevention of the condensation and thermal comfort.

  • In this paper, we propose a performance-aware workload model for efficient implementation of control systems. When implementing a control algorithm as an embedded computer system, the control code executes periodically. For such systems, its control performance depends on not only the accuracy of the control algorithm itself but also temporal parameters such as control period and sensing to actuation delay. In this regard, this paper studies the relation between control period and delay by measuring and analyzing the control performance of LKAS (Lane Keeping Assist System) with varying period and delay combinations. Through this experimental study, this paper shows that the two timing parameters, i.e.,control period and delay, has a tradeoff relation in terms of control performance.
