  • This paper presents a novel approach for achieving both a tight DC voltage regulation and a power factor control by applying the Reaching Law Sliding Mode Control (RL-SMC) and the conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC). Applying these strategies on a matrix rectifier (MR) can achieve a unity grid side power factor when the DC load changes widely and it can provide a ripple-free output voltage that is easily affected by distortions of the three-phase ac voltage supply. Furthermore, by employing the reaching law on the SMC can solve the chatting problem of the sliding motion. Comparative Matlab simulations and experimental verifications for these strategies have been presented and discussed in this paper. The results show that by applying the SMC and RL-SMC on a MR can achieve a unity grid side power factor and a regulated ripple-free DC output.

  • In this paper, We present a new nonlinear adaptive control law using a disturbance accommodating control (DAC) observer for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle called ALFLEX. A future spaceplane must have ability to deal with greater fluctuations in the stability and control derivatives of flight dynamics, because its flight region is much wider than that of conventional aircraft. In our previous studies, digital adaptive flight control systems have been developed based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model depending on dynamic pressure, and obtained good simulation results. However, under previous control laws, it is difficult to accommodate uncertainties represented by disturbance and nonlinearity, and to design a stable flight control system. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to design a nonlinear adaptive control law using the DAC Observer and inverse dynamic methods. A good tracking property of the obtained system was confirmed in numerical simulation.

  • A nonlinear robust guidance law is designed for missiles against a maneuvering target by incorporating sliding-mode and optimal control theories based on the state dependent Riccati equation (SDRE) to achieve robustness against target accelerations. The guidance law is derived based on three-dimensional nonlinear engagement kinematics and its robustness against disturbances is proved by the second method of Lyapunov. A new switching surface is considered in the sliding-mode control design. The proposed guidance law requires the maximum value of the target maneuver, and therefore opposed to the conventional augmented proportional navigation guidance (APNG) law, complete information about the target maneuver is not necessary, and hence it is simple to implement in practical applications. Considering different types of target maneuvers, several scenario simulations are performed. Simulation results confirm that the proposed guidance law has much better robustness, faster convergence, and smaller final time and control effort in comparison to the sliding-mode guidance (SMG) and APNG laws.

  • The general time optimal control law provides the optimal solution for a minimum time control problem. But in most real systems with disturbances and model uncertainties, the time optimal control law leads to chattering effect. This chattering effect can cause the system to be unstable. Therefore, we propose a robust optimal control algorithm for the nonlinear second order systems with model uncertainty. The proposed algorithm is combined with bang-bang control and sliding mode control. Thus the proposed algorithm has two state space regions to implement to control algorithm. In each region, the appropriate linear or nonlinear feedback control law is used satisfying the dynamic system equations. Simulation results show the superiority of the proposed controller in comparison with pure time optimal control(bang-bang control).

  • mathematical models for a hydraulic brake actuator and a brake control law for vehicle collision warning/collision avoidance (CW/CA) systems will be presented in this paper. The control law have been designed for optimzied safety and comfort. A solenoid-valve-controlled hydraulic brake actuator system for the CW/CA systems has been investigated, A nonlinear computer model and a linear model of the hydraulic brake actuator system have been developed. Both models were found to represent the actual system with good accuracy. Uncertainties in the brake actuator model have been considered in the design of the control law for the roubustness of the controller. The effects of brake control on CW/CA vehicle response has been investigated via simulations. The simulations were performed using the hydraulic brake system model and a complete nonlinear vehicle model. The results indicate that the proposed brake control law can provide the CW/CA vehicles with an opimized compromise between safety and comfort.

  • This paper proposes a new nonlinear adaptive guidance law. Fourth order state equation for integrated guidance and control loop is formulated considering target uncertainties and control loop dynamics. The state equation is further changed into the normal form by nonlinear coordinate transformation. An adaptive nonlinear guidance law is proposed to compensate for the uncertainties In both target acceleration and control loop dynamics. The proposed law adopts the sliding mode control approach with adaptation fer unknown bound of uncertainties. The present approach can effectively solve the existing guidance problem of target maneuver and the limited performance of control loop. We provide the stability analyses and demonstrate the effectiveness of our scheme through simulations.

  • A vehicle longitudinal control strategy with guaranteed string stability for vehicle stop-and-go(SG) cruise control is presented in this paper. The SG cruise control systems should be designed such that string stability can be guaranteed in addition to that every vehicle in a string of SG cruise control vehicles must track any bounded acceleration and velocity profile of its preceding vehicle with a bounded spacing and velocity error. An optimal vehicle following control law based on the information of the 1311owing distance (clearance) and its velocity relative to the vehicle ahead (relative velocity) has been used and string stability analysis has been done based on the control law and constant time gap spacing policy, A validated multi-vehicle simulation package has been shown that the string stability analysis using the approximate model of the vehicle servo-loop which includes vehicle powertrain and brake control system dynamics is valid in the design of the SG cruise control law with guaranteed string stability.

  • In this paper we analyze the RHLQG/FIRF optimal.contol law presented in [4,5] in order to stabilizes a stochastic linear time varying systems with modeling uncertainty. It is shown by the frequency domain analysis that the RHC is robuster than the LQ control law. Explicit LTR procedures are given to improve the robust performance of RHLQC/FIRF cotrol law. Using the mismatching function technique [8], we propose an LTR method which makes the RHLQG/FIRF controller recover the feedback properties of the R.HC law. Also we compare the LTR performance of the RHLQC/FIRF via simulation with conventional LTR methods.

A receding horizon guidance law considering autopilot lag and constraints is proposed. The performance of receding horizon guidance law in the presence of target maneuvers is confirmed by simulation results. Through many simulation, a suitable selection of weighting matrix can minimize effect of disturbance, target acceleration. which is meaning of this paper.

  • We propose a VSC(Variable Structure Controller) with a PI-type reaching law. In General, conventional VSCs with a reaching law including a discontinuous term have the chattering problem, and thus the system may be unstable due to the disregarded high frequency dynamics in the modeling process. To resolve this problem, the PI-type reaching law is proposed in this paper. The proposed reaching law makes it easy to determine the reaching dynamics as well as the reaching time by utilizing the 2nd-order system analysis. Furthermore, since the discontinous term is not involved in the reaching law, the chattering is considerably reduced. To show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, the stability of the proposed system is proved by Lyapunov method and the computer simulations are performed for the Ball Balance System.
