A Study on the Marketing System Construction and Merchandising of Tongyoung Marine Ranching (통영바다목장의 유통체제 구축과 상품화계획에 관한 연구)

  • Distribution of fish products from Tongyoung Marine ranching can be classified by three routes such as street-stall, live fish transportation vehicles, and wholesale markets neighboring unloading ports. These methods of distribution, however, have been restricted by limited distribution right, difficulties to differentiate fish prices from other surfaces, simple marketing channels. The ratio of cultured live fish circulated in market is increasing while naturally caught live fish is decreasing and the fresh fish shows a little of increasing rate. Consumers purchasing routes mainly depend on the live fish transportation merchants. For fresh fish traditional market plays an important role in trade. Convenience for consumers and quality of products are main factors in making decision of purchases. Bargaining power, however, belongs to the live fish transportation merchants. The demand of special markets for live fish was very strong, and the convenience and quality are relatively important required factors. Catch from Tongyoung Marine ranching has very good reputation as the possibility of being a good brand. Expecting possibility of quality differentiation was higher than price differentiation specially. The possible conclusion of a contract of a supply was suspicious however. Preliminary quality evaluation revealed that the catch is better than the cultured but worse than naturally grown fish. A merchandising is to be in a better position in the formation of prices by giving $\ulcorner$brand image$\lrcorner$ to potential consumers. The target markets are retail stores such as restaurants for raw fish and final consumers. The staple markets are retail stores. Possible items of products are live fish, fresh fish for cook, and fresh fish for raw fish. It is necessary for the catch to be informed as new functional products that have been improved in safety and quality, since the product positioning is similar but not well known to consumers. To secure a brand it is required to register a trademark, eco-label product design or packing, use real name in tranction, introduce recall system, and put label. Price higher than naturally grown live fish should be targeted. Establishing broad distribution channel, wholesale market, franchise are required. To secure enough catch and control shipment of products facilities of containing live fish are necessary. Instead of dealing with live fish only, it would be better to. sell fresh fish and live fish simultaneous. Strategically promotion focuses on advertisement of Marin ranching at first and then focuses on the catch from the marine ranching.

A Study of Depression Observed Among The Elderly Residing in Home For The Aged In Korea (양로원 재원노인의 우울에 관한 연구)

  • Using Zung's self-rating depression scale, the authors studied depression in 310 elderlies residing in the 9 home for the aged (HFA) in Kyungbuk area, and 234 elderlies living in Taegu city and 107 elderlies attending a Life-long education program in Taegu, which serve as a control group, Community resident elderlies(CRE). The research had been administered during the period from June to August, 1986. The results were as follows : 1. The mean scores of male. female. and the total of the elderlies in HFA were $38.95{\pm}11.55$, $44.18{\pm}14.15$:: and $42.8{\pm}13.7$ respectively while CRE marked $40.8{\pm}11.3$ for male, $45.2{\pm}12.0$ for female, and $43.4{\pm}11.9$ for the total. Therefore there were significant differences between male and female in both groups(p<0.01, p<0.001), though no significant difference between the two groups. However, the depression score of elderlies in HFA might be much higher than that of CRE if 81 elderlies(14.2%) in HFA who had been left out of the statistical evaluation due to their having severe depression, organic brain syndrom, or pseudoementia, etc had been included. 2. The score distribution by items for the elderlies in HFA were from highest scores hopelessness, worthlessness, emptiness, decreased appetite, confusion, while for CRE, hopelessness, decreased appetite, psychomotor retardation, indecisiveness, and worthlessness. Elderlies in HFA showed significantly high scores in depressed mood, weight loss, suicidal rumination(ideation) and psychomotor excitement, while CRE showed significantly high scores in decreased appetite, psychomotor retardation, indecisiveness, and dissatisfaction. 3. Elderlies who scored over 50 numbered 10 males(16%), 57 females(34%), and total of 67(29%) in HFA and 28 males(21%), 77 females(37%), and total of 105(31%) in CRE : female showed higher seores in both groups. 4. Psychosocial factors such as getting older(respectively p<0.01, p<0.01), being Buddhist(respectively p<0.01, p<0.01), and monthly pocket money less than \30,000(respectively p<0.001, p<0.001) were found to have a noticable impact on the depression level of the elderlies in both groups. Factors such as illiteracy (p<0.001, monthly pocket money less than \10,000(p<0.05), and having no family(p<0.01) recorded significantly higher scores among CRE than the elderlies in HFA.

Cases of Discrepancy in High School Students' Achievement in Science Education Assessment: Focusing on Testing Tool in Affective Area (과학 교육 평가에서 나타나는 고등학생들의 성취 불일치 사례 - 정의적 영역 검사 도구를 중심으로 -)

  • This study analyzed some of the discrepancies in quantitative and qualitative data focusing on cognitive and affective achievement in science education. Academic and affective achievement score of 308 high school students were collected as quantitative data, and 33 students were interviewed for qualitative data. We examined the causes and types of discrepancies in terms of testing tools. As a result from quantitative data, there were a large number of students with a big difference between subjects in cognitive achievement, and constructs in affective achievement. More than 20% of the students did not match tendency between achievements in two areas. Through interviews, some examples such as intentional control of science learning for future study and careers, different responses by differences in perception between school science and science, appeared. A comparison of quantitative data by testing tool between qualitative ones and interviews showed conflicting result, where most students evaluated themselves differently from their own quantitative data. That is due to the students' interaction with the testing tools. Two types of discrepancy related to testing tool are found. One is 'the concept difference between the item developer and students,' the other is 'the difference between students' exposed response and their real mindset.' These are related to the ambiguity of the terms used in the tool and response bias due to various causes. Based on this study, an effort is required to elaborate the testing item that matches students' actual perception and to apply students' science learning experience to testing items.

Quality and Sensory Characteristics of Bulgogi Sauce with Various Amount of Omija Extract Juice (오미자 즙의 첨가량에 따른 불고기 소스의 품질 특성)

  • In order to apply oriental medicine materials, which are applicable to the LOHAS concept demanded recently in society, to sauces, this study added different amounts of Omija, which has been proved to have various efficacies, effects and functions, to Bulgogi sauce with soy sauce as its main ingredient and analyzed the functionality of the prepared sauce through physical and sensory tests. General component analysis showed that, with increase in the Omija content, water content, crude ash and crude protein decreased, and crude fat was not detected As to color, L-value gradually increased with Omija content increased, and a-value indicating redness also increased as Omija extract added increased The higher the Omija content was, the lower pH and salinity were and the higher viscosity was. In the quantitative descriptive analysis of Omija Bulgogi sauce, with increase in the Omija content, color, flavor, taste and aftertaste grew stronger, and in the results of palatability test, the sauce containing Omija 5% was preferred most in all the evaluated items. In the quantitative descriptive analysis of Omija Bulgogi, with increase in the amount of Onija extract added, the strength of color, the flavor of sauce, and the taste of Omija grew stronger and the unpleasant smell, saltiness, sweetness and unpleasant taste grew weaker. Summing up the result of this study, when we tested five specimens of different Omija contents including a control, the specimen of 5% content was preferred most This result suggests that other kinds of fruit juice may be usable in soy sauce Bulgogi sauce and continuous efforts should be made to develop new types of Bulgogi sauce.

A Study on the Safety of Stevioside as a New Sweetening Source (신(新) 감미(甘味) 자원(資源) Stevioside의 안전성(安全性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • The safety of the sweetening component of stevia was studied by administrating it to the rats. The $LD_{50}$ determined by intraperitoneal injection was 3,400 mg/Kg as the stevia extract containing 50 % stevioside, i.e. $LD_{50}$ of stevioside was more than 1,700 mg/Kg. Oral administration of large quantities of the stevia extract for 56 days resulted in no effect on the growth of rats. The analyses of total blood (RBC, WBC, Hb and Hct), 17 blood serum components including total protein, glucose, cholesterol, GOT, and 11 items of findings on the liver tissues including nuclear deterioration of liver cells, proliferation of Kupffer cells, fibrosis of portal area showed no significant differences between control and treatments except lactate dehydrogenase activity after 56 day-oral administration of the extract. From the results obtained, it was supposed that the stevia extract/stevioside revealed no acute or sub-acute toxic effects on rats.

Effect of Instruction for the Learner-Involved Development of Analytical Rubrics on the Learning Motivation of Middle School Students: Focusing on the unit of 'Housing' (학습자 참여 분석적 루브릭(rubric) 개발 수업이 중학생의 학습동기에 미치는 영향 - 주생활 단원을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of instruction for the development of analytical rubrics based on teacher-student compromise, which would be applied to performance assessment about the ninth-grade housing unit of the 7th national curriculum. In order to find out the influence of the rubric development instruction on learning motivation, two different third-year classes in a middle school were selected respectively as an experimental group and a control group. The way of presenting the rubrics and learning motivation were respectively selected as independent and dependent variables. Both groups took two lessons and a pretest-posttest on learning motivation. As for the analytic rubric for the individual task performance in the housing unit, three evaluation items were selected. As a result, the instruction for the learner-involved development of analytical rubrics for the housing segment had a positive effect on the confidence and satisfaction of the middle schoolers, which were two out of four sub-factors of learning motivation. Open-ended questions showed that the instruction got to build confidence in the course of being aware of the evaluation criteria and fulfilling the given tasks.

The Research on the effect of School Safety Management System on Accident in School -Based on study of high schools in Seoul- (학교사고에 영향을 미치는 학교안전 관리구조 실태 조사 -서울시 일부 고등학생을 대상으로-)

  • Students spend most of their time in school. Schools have the possibility of unanticipated accidents, however, and the rate of accidents in schools is increasing. The purpose of this study were to understand the accidents that arise in schools as well as the school safety management system and by analyzing affects that school safety management system has on accidents in schools, to come lip with a preventive plan. 906 high school sophomore students attending in Seoul were surveyed 1Tom November 12th to 23rd 2001. The results were following: 1. Students surveyed comprised of the following: Male 48.9%, Female 51.1% Public Schools 32.6%, Private Schools 67.4% Boys Schools 48.9%, Girls Schools 51.1% 2. In the past year, male students had more accidents(p〈.05) in school. 3. In examining students safety management control, 94.0% said that, there is an infirmary, there is a clear distinction between the playing fields and pathways(74.8%), and the chemicals in the labs are kept in a safe manner(77.2%). The above items were generally well maintained. However, the following recorded low scores. There are warning signs in hazardous places and facilities(30.5%), There is guiding principle to examine the safeness on a regular basis(24.9%), and There are slogans and posters preventing accidents(40.3%). 4. In examining the facilities of the schools that were surveyed, the majority answered, yes to the following. There are hazardous facilities or materials at school(62.9%), There are sharp edges in educational supplies and equipment(59.8%), There are nails or other components that are sticking out of desks and chairs(75.9%), There are slippery spots in the corridors and classrooms(69.3%), There are stones, scrap metal, broken glass, and trash on the playing fields(66.6%). Furthermore, the students surveyed said, yes to the following although in low percentages. The amount of sand on the playing fields is sufficient(49.1%), The soccer and basket goal posts are fastened (53.7%), There are safety bars on the windows of classrooms and corridors (27.4%), There are safety mats on the entrance to restrooms preventing slips (14.2%), The stairs have slip protection measures(49.1%). 5. In analyzing the affect that the school safety management system has on accidents in school, schools that had slogans and posters preventing accidents had a 50% less chance of accidents(p〈.05), schools with chemicals and equipment in the labs that were safely maintained had an 80% less probability of accidents(p〈.0l), and the schools that had sharp edges in the educational supplies and equipment had an 80% greater chance of accidents(p〈.01).

Sex Workers' Satisfaction and Intention to Use Sexually Transmitted Disease Examination Service in Korea (성병검진서비스에 대한 성매매 종사자의 만족도와 이용의도)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine how sex workers perceive the current STD examination service and how the perceptions are related with sex workers' intention to use the service. Methods: The data for this study came from a survey among sex workers who had an experience of using STD examination service provided by local public health centers. Sex workers' perceptions to STD examination service and their intention to use the service were measured with multiple items adapted from the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ) developed by Ware and his colleagues. Results: Most sex workers are satisfied with the current STD examination service provided by local public health centers and they have a strong intention to use the service. In predicting general satisfaction and intention to use STD examination service, few socioeconomic variables play a significant role. Among specific dimensions of STD test service, technical quality and accessibility of the service affect both general satisfaction and intention to use the service in a positive direction. The most important determinant of sex workers' intention to use STD examination service is their general satisfaction with the service. Conclusion: With the existing laws that still officially justify STD examination programs, the demand and need for STD examination service by sex workers further the current STD examination programs. Health authorities which aim at health maintenance, health promotion and health protection for the people, thus, need to continue their STD control programs actively and effectively regardless of the Special Law on Sex Trade.

Characteristics of Water Quality and Evaluation of Eutrophication for Reservoirs in Kunsan (군산지역 저수지의 수질특성 및 부영양화 평가)

  • Recently, eutrophication or lake and reservoir has become serious problem to man who want use that water for several purpose. In order to solve the eutrophication problem, the trophic state of that eutrophic lake and reservoir should be measured properly. For the purpose of this, various method to indicate the trophic state of lake and reservoir was developed by many researchers. This research was conducted to evaluate characteristics and eutrophication of water qualitymfor small scale reservoir in Kunsan. On-site investigation to 5 reservoirs and laboratory experiment were carried out during four seasons from November, 2003 to July, 2004. Twelve items measured field ana a laboratory. Measured data was analyzed to quantitative method by multivariate approach and eutrophication index. The result is summarized as following. 1) Showing the characteristics of water quality for reservoir in Kunsan, Okgu reservoir and Oknua reservoir was exceeded 4 grades of agricultural water standard in TP, TN and COD. This means that eutrophication was gone much, therefore, water-purity control of reservoir need. While, Mije reservoir that is used to Kunsan citizens' recreation was good in water quality. But, water quality exceeded 4 grades of agricultural Dater standard sometimes. 2) As a results of correlation analysis between variables of water qualify, Interrelation between variables which is connected with eutrophication was expressed good relationship as above 6.000 in correlation coefficients. The correlation coefficient(r) between COD and chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, total nitrogen and chlorophyll-a were 0.750, 0.720 and 0.600 respectively. Therefore, Change of water quality can grasp according to eutrophication progress degree. 3) If do evaluate to eutrophication by quantitative method which is proposed by OECD, US-EPA and Forsberg & Ryding, in the case of chlorophyll a, Okgu, Oknua and Daewi reservoir was eutrophic state and Mije and Geumgul reservoir was mesotrophic state. But, estimation by TN and TP showed highly eutrophic state (hypereutrophic) in all reservoirs. 4) If do evaluate by eutrophication index which is Carlson's TSI, revised carlson TSI and Walker's index, in the case of chlorophyll a, TSI values of Okgu, Oknua and Daewi reservoir is eutrophic state more than 50 and Mije and Geumgul reservoir was mesotrophic state as range of $40{\sim}50$ in TSI value. But, in the case of TP as nutrients, all reservoirs showed highly eutrophic state which was exceed to 70 in TSI value. According to above results, the water quality for small scale reservoirs in Kunsan is progressing by trophic state. therefore, for continuous use as agriculture water, we had better do establishment of management plan about water quality.

Development of a Decision Making Model for Construction Management in LNG Plant Construction - Focused on Construction Stage - (LNG 공사의 건설사업관리 의사결정지원모델 개발 - 시공단계 중심 -)

  • LNG plant projects tend to be implemented in overseas owing to its characteristics, so their project management scheme is somewhat different from those of general projects. Value chain in a LNG plant project includes exploration/production of gases, physical liquefaction/chemical conversion processes, transportation and storage. Key factors in the chain include liquefaction process (including ultra-low temperature liquefaction) to convert natural gas into liquid materials or fuel, and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) package, as well as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) technology comprising control, operation and construction. Success of a complex LNG plant project implemented in overseas depends on decision-making process in project management. Accordingly, to develop a decision-making model in of plant construction, the study extracted none factors in project management by EPC stage and assessed importance of each factor. The result showed that items in both project management and project risk management are important. Especially, the study developed a decision-making model in the construction stage of a LNG plant project based on the project management factors and importance assessment. The developed decision-making model would lay groundwork in building a decision-making system in construction stage of project management.
