함정 적외선 신호의 관리방법 연구 (A Study on the Management Methods of the Ship Infrared Signature)

  • In the development process of new naval ships, it is necessary to make the effort of the signature management and reduction of ship infrared(IR) signature to increase the ship survivability(susceptibility). So far the ship's contrast radiant intensity is used as a ship IR signature design criteria during the naval ship design stages. However, nowaday it is in a state of disorder at the basic design stage because of the lack of any related studies and methods. In this study, the IR signature management methods for improving the signature reduction and ship survivability are suggested by the comparison analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of signature management techniques. And also the criteria for the ship signature management are suggested when considering the infrared signature measuring assets and sea trial environments of the Korean peninsula.

태양고각 변화에 따른 함정 적외선신호에 관한 연구 (A Study on Effect of the Solar Elevation on the Ship IR Signature)

  • A study on the infrared signature of a naval ship by the solar elevation was performed using the well known IR signature analysis software, ShipIR/NTCS. The contrast radiant intensity of a ship against the Eastern Sea background from sunrise to noon was investigated. Monthly averaged climate data for both January and July were applied to investigate the seasonal change in the signature. A study on the signature for different ship speeds was also carried out. Simulation results showed that the maximum signature in both wave-bands for a sea-level observer occurred at around 25~35 degrees of solar elevation and was highly dependent on the ship geometry rather than the solar irradiance.

  • 적외선을 이용한 무기체계의 발달로 인해 항공기의 생존은 큰 위협에 직면해 있다. 따라서 항공기의 생존성 향상을 위해서 적외선 스텔스 기술이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 수치해석을 통해 실제 비행환경에서의 항공기 표면온도 및 주위 배경에 따른 적외선 신호를 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 적외선 스텔스를 위한 항공기 표면 구조체 방사율의 가이드라인을 제시하고 그 성능을 검증하고자 한다. 수치해석 결과, 주위 배경에 따라서 항공기 표면 방사율을 최적화한다면 항공기와 배경간의 복사대비강도를 감소시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

함정적외선신호 관리를 위한 확률론적 방법의 가능성 연구 (A Feasibility Study on the Probabilistic Method for the Naval Ship Infra-red Signature Management)

  • It is essential to reduce the Infra-red signature for increasing ship's survivability in ship design stage. However the ship's IR signature is quite sensitive to the maritime and atmosphere. Therefore, it is very important to select the marine meteorological data to be applied to the signature analysis. In this study, we selected the three meteorological sample sets from the population of the Korea Meteorological Administration's marine environment data in 2017. These samples were selected through the two-dimensional stratified sampling method, taking into account the geopolitical threats of the Korean peninsula and the effective area of the buoy. These sample sets were applied to three naval ships classified by their tonnage, and then the IR signature analysis was performed to derive the Contrast Radiant Intensity (CRI) values. Based on the CRI values, the validity of each sample set was determined by comparing Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF), and Probability Density Function (PDF). Also, we checked the degree of scattering in each sample set and determined the efficiency of analysis time and cost according to marine meteorological sample sets to confirm the possibility of a probabilistic method. Through this process, we selected the standard for optimization of marine meteorological sample for ship IR signature analysis. Based on this optimization sample, by applying probabilistic method to the management of IR signature for naval ships, the robust design is possible.

장갑 차량의 방사율 제어구조 적용에 따른 적외선 신호 분석 (Infrared Signature Analysis on Armored Vehicle Applied with Emissivity Controlled Structure)

  • 적외선 유도 무기의 급속한 발달로 인해 현대 장갑 차량의 생존성은 크게 위협 받고 있다. 따라서 적외선 신호를 줄여 탐지가능성을 줄이는 것이 지상 장갑 차량의 생존성 향상을 위해 반드시 필요하다. 이러한 목적으로 본 연구는 수치해석을 사용해 차량 적외선 신호의 시간 및 탐지 위치별 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 가장 낮은 대비복사강도를 보이는 방사율이 시간 및 탐지 위치별로 상이하며 적외선 신호를 효과적으로 저감하기 위해서는 차량 부위별로 다른 방사율을 갖는 제어 구조를 적용해야 할 것이다.

  • Ship infrared signature is the cause of detection and tracking by infrared sensor and anti-ship missile seeker. Recent warships have been applied the infrared stealth technology to reduce own ship infrared signature and tested to validate own ship infrared signature level. This study describes the two issues. Firstly, we describe the infrared measurement concept and infrared signature level establishment method that have been performed. Secondly, we compare and analyze the error components between the infrared measurement and simulation result.

레이돔 표면에 금속 나노코팅을 적용한 적외선 저피탐 성능특성 연구 (Analysis on Infrared Stealth Performance of Metal Nano-coating on Radome Surface)

  • Infrared stealth technology used in aircraft is applied to reduce the infrared signal by controlling surface temperature and emissivity using internal heat sink, low emissivity material or metamaterial. However, there is one part of the aircraft where the use of this technology is limited, and that is the radome. Especially, radome should have transmittance for the specific radio frequency, therefore, common stealth technology such as emissivity control surfaces cannot be applied to radome surface. In this study, we developed metal nano-coating for infrared stealth which is applicable to radome surface. We designed slot-type pattern for frequency selective transmission in X-band, and also controlled thickness of metal nano-coating for long wavelength infrared emissivity control. As a result, our infrared stealth surface for radome has 93.2 % transmittance in X-band and various infrared emissivities from 0.17 to 0.57 according to nano-coatings thickness. Also, we analyzed infrared signature of radome through numerical simulation, and finally reduced contrast radiant intensity by 97.57 % compared to polyurethane surface.

고도 변화에 따른 전투기 적외선 신호 최소 조건 분석 (Effect of Flight Altitude on Minimal Infrared Signature of Combat Aircraft)

  • 적외선 유도 무기 체계의 발달로 항공기의 생존성은 지속적으로 위협받고 있으며, 항공기의 생존성을 향상시키기 위한 적외선 스텔스 기술 관련 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 적외선 유도 미사일이 항공기와 배경 간의 대비 신호를 탐지하는 것에 주목하여 비행 조건에 따른 항공기의 최적 적외선 신호를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 항공기의 비행 조건을 고려하여 유동 해석과 대류, 전도, 복사 3차원 열전달 해석을 수행하였고, 동체 표면 온도를 도출하여 항공기 주변 유동 특성을 기반으로 항공기의 적외선 신호를 분석하였다. 더 나아가, 비행 조건 별로 최적 적외선 신호를 갖기 위한 최적 방사율을 도출하였고, 비행 조건 별로 최적 방사율을 동체 표면에 적용했을 때 적외선 신호 저감 효과를 분석하였다.

  • 국내에서 개발 중인 장비의 기술 유출 방지와 국내 환경에 맞는 적외선 신호 분석 S/W 개발에 대한 요구가 있어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 적외선 영상을 생성하기 위한 적외선 신호 분석 S/W에 대한 구성과 특정 파장대역의 적외선 영상 생성 방법 및 분석 방법에 대해 나타내었다. 개발된 적외선 신호 분석 S/W는 표면온도 해석 결과와 물체의 자체방사 성분 및 반사성분 그리고 대기경로 복사성분을 통해 적외선 영상을 생성하도록 구성되어 있다. 대부분의 상용 S/W에는 복사 대비값 및 탐지거리 또는 탐지율 분석 기능이 포함되어 있지 않지만 개발된 S/W에는 생성된 적외선 영상을 이용하여 위협도 분석할 수 있는 기술을 포함하고 있다.

진열장 조명의 이론적 기준과 시설에 대한 고찰 (An Approach to the Theoretical Design Standard and Effective Practice of Museum Showcase Lighting)

  • There have been many studies and experiments regarding exhibition lighting. Many experiments on photochemical damaging effect and visibility resulted in a practice limited to assigning light levels and adjusting annual exposure time. The three damaging factors to the artifacts are intrinsicsusceptibility to absorb radiant energy, spectral distribution of light source and intensity of illumination and time of exposure. Dividing all the artfacts into three categories to suggest a recommended illuminance level causes some problems. Blue wool, for example, used as the reference material for susceptibility, is not a standard material representing museum artifacts. In the most light sensitive category, ISO class I or anything below have been excluded. The exposure time of one soure can be three times more than another sourece. The spectral distribution of the light source and the relative spectral responsibility of the artifact are not considered in the practice. So in case of very light sensitive material, the recommended illuminance is only the referring value and it is indispensable to check the characteristic of susceptibility of each artifacts. Daylighting is prevailing method to solve the psychological need of the visitors. However, it sould transparent, and should not diffused, and the green-house effect must be considered. llluminance uniformity should based on the maximum illuminance to handle the limitation of exposure for the conservation of a large sensitive object such as a painting. Damage index is not absolute reference for selecting the lighting source because it is experimented from the paper of low grade then calculated. Visibility should be increased by reducing the visual noiseand by planning of appropriate luminance contrast. This paper reviews the problems with the previous studies and experiment sand the current exhibition lighting design practice. The plan for museum showcase lighting is to check the susceptibility and to raise the visibility simultaneously.
