On Stability of Discrete Time Nonlinear Systems with Slow-in-the-average Time Varying Inputs

  • In this paper we show the stability analysis of the discrete nonlinear system with average bounded variation of the input. This is the discrete counterpart of that continuous one. We use the Lyapunov stability to prove the boundedness of the steady-state error. Also the allowable maximum variation bounds and the region of attraction are given as the function of the system parameters. Moreover, we prove the uniform convergence for the constant input.

  • This paper presents a robust model reference adaptive controller for continuous-time single-input single-output linear time-invariant systems which are subjected to output-dependent disturbances as well as bounded external disturbances. In the derived controller form, an additional output error feedback term is included to over-ride the destabilizing effects by the output-dependent disturbances.

  • To improve the safety and productivity of continuous processes, it is becoming increasingly necessary to have simulators to train operators. This paper describes a real-time simulator developed for this purpose by Yokogawa in cooperation with the Tokyo Gas Company. This simulator - based on the YEWCOM computer - not only trains operators, but also evaluates their proficiency.

  • Process failures can occur at any time during operation, so a continuous effort of fault detection, diagsis, and correction is required. Expert system paridigm has been regarded as a promising approach to real time process supervisory control especially to fault diagnosis. The most important aspects of fault diagnostic expert systems(FDES) are the problem-solving inference strategy and knowledge organizations. The necessity of FDES, the nature of diagnostic knowledge, the representation of knowledge, and the inference mechanism of FDES, et al. are described, which are announced by previous researchers. And the existing FDES are categorized and critically reviewed in this work.

Properties of a Generalized Impulse Response Gramian with Application to Model Reduction

  • In this paper we investigate the properties of a generalized impulse response Gramian. The recursive relationship satisfied by the family of Gramians is established. It is shown that the generalized impulse response Gramian contains information on the characteristic polynomial of a linear time-invariant continuous system. The results are applied to model reduction problem.

  • 멀티미디어 시스템에서 수행되는 부하 중 상당 부분은 정해진 시간에 주기적으로 수행되어 연속 매체(continuous media)를 처리하는 주기 태스크들이다. 연속 매체들을 처리하는 두 주기 태스크의 수행 요청 시간(release time)간에 인공적인 위상(phase)을 줄 경우, 전체 부하의 처리 타이밍에 영향을 주게 되며, 특히, 적절한 위상을 부여할 경우 부하가 고르게 분산된다. 부하의 고른 분산은 태스크 간섭을 줄여 지터(jitter), 종료시한 초과(deadline miss), 그리고 긴 응답 시간(response time) 등의 문제를 해소시킨다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 위상 스케줄링(phased scheduling) 알고리즘 및 알고리즘을 개발하고 평가할 수 있는 실험 환경을 제안한다. 본 논문에 제시된 알고리즘은 저자들의 선행 논문 1 에서 제시한 알고리즘의 대안이다. 새로운 알고리즘은 정확하게 최적의 위상을 찾지는 않으나 기존 알고리즘보다 빠르게 수행되며 적용 범위가 넓다.Abstract A multimedia system consists of substantial amount of continuous media workload scheduled periodically at deterministic time points. Artificial phase between the invocation times of any two continuous media tasks affects the timing of the entire workload. A proper phase configuration distributes workload uniformly over time and reduces task interference that may otherwise result in jitter, deadline miss, and long response time. The objective of this paper is to work out a phased scheduling algorithm and to evaluate its effectiveness. The algorithm in this paper is an alternative approach to our previous work 1 . It is almost as accurate as the predecessor but two of three times faster in identifying the appropriate phase vector.

  • 본 논문은 복합 상태 공간에서의 피지 기반 제어기를 이용한 지능형 디지털 재설계의 전 역적 접근 방안에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 이산화를 통한 제어기 설계에 있어서 불확실성이 포함된 실시간 비선형 시스템에 대해 보다 효율적이고 안정적인 접근을 위해 TS 퍼지 모델이 사용되었다. 그리고 전 역적 접근을 위한 방안으로서 문제를 볼록 최적화 관점으로 변환 후, 에러가 가질 수 있는 놈의 영역을 최소화하여 상태 접합을 이루고자 하였다. 또한 power series를 사용함으로써 불확실성이 조합된 비선형 시스템을 보다 더 정확하게 분석하였다. 샘플링 기간이 충분히 작다면, 불확실 비선형 시스템의 실시간 시스템으로의 전환이 충분한 이유를 가지게 된다. 전 역적 접근을 통한 디지털로 제어된 시스템은 선형 행렬 부등식 형태로 바꾸어 시스템의 안정성을 보장하고자 하였다. 마지막으로 TS 퍼지 모델로 분석된 혼돈 Lorenz System에 적용함으로써 제안된 방법의 안정성과 효율성을 보장받게 된다.

Fuzzy Controller Design for Markovian Jump Nonlinear Systems

  • This paper is concerned with the problem of state feedback control of continuous-time nonlinear Markovian jump systems, which are represented by Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models. A new method for designing state feedback stabilizing controllers is presented in terms of solvability of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and it is shown that the new design method provides better or at least the same results of the existing method in the literature. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, the direct adaptive control using neural networks is presented for the control of chaotic nonlinear systems. The direct adaptive control method has an advantage that the additional system identification procedure is not necessary. In order to evaluate the performance of our controller design method, two direct adaptive control methods are applied to a Duffing's equation and a Lorenz equation which are continuous-time chaotic systems. Our simulation results show the effectiveness of the controllers.

  • This paper presents a design method of non-parallel distributed compensation (non-PDC) static output feedback controller for continuous- and discrete-time T-S fuzzy systems. The existence condition of static output feedback control law is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The proposed sufficient stabilizing condition does not need any transformation matrices and equality constraints and is less conservative than the previous result of [21].
