Three-dimensional simplified slope stability analysis by hybrid-type penalty method

  • In this study, we propose a three-dimensional simplified slope stability analysis using a hybrid-type penalty method (HPM). In this method, a solid element obtained by the HPM is applied to a column that divides the slope into a lattice. Therefore, it can obtain a safety factor in the same way as simplified methods on the slip surface. Furthermore, it can obtain results (displacement and strain) that cannot be obtained by conventional limit equilibrium methods such as the Hovland method. The continuity condition of displacement between adjacent columns and between elements for each depth is considered to incorporate a penalty function and the relative displacement. For a slip surface between the bottom surface and the boundary condition to express the slip of slope, we introduce a penalty function based on the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. To compute the state of the slip surface, an r-min method is used in the load incremental method. Using the result of the simple three-dimensional slope stability analysis, we obtain a safety factor that is the same as the conventional method. Furthermore, the movement of the slope was calculated quantitatively and qualitatively because the displacement and strain of each element are obtained.

  • In the finite element analysis of semiconductor devices analysis, the solution often be diverged due to the numerical instability of discretized equations. To overcome this problems, a noble finite element code which guarantees a successful convergence is developed. The factor of divergence in the current continuity equation of semiconductor governing equations is derived using stability test and an adaptive mesh refine scheme is introduced to eliminates the divergence properties. A test calculation of GaAs MESFET model reveals that the proposed scheme has a robust self-convergence property and is suitable for the semiconductor devices analysis.

가변용량형 피스톤 펌프의 안정적인 유량/압력제어를 위한 설계보상 (A Design Compensation for Stable Flow/Pressure Control of Variable Displacement Type Piston Pump)

  • Variable displacement type piston pump uses various controllers for controlling more than one state quantity like pressure, flow, power, and so on. These controllers need the mathematical model closely expressing dynamic behavior of pump for analyzing the stability of control systems which usually use various kinds of state variables. This paper derives the nonlinear mathematical model for variable displacement type piston pump. This model consists of two 1st oder differential equations by the continuity equations and one 2nd oder differential equation by the motion equation. To simplify the model we obtain the linear state variable model by differentiating the three nonlinear equations. And we verify this linearized model by comparison of simulation with experimentation and analyze the stability for the flow/pressure control. Finally this paper suggests the design compensation to ensure the stability of the systems.

  • The finite element analysis for porous media is severe job because constituents have different physical peoperties, and element's continuity and stability should be considered. Thus, we propose the new mixed finite element method in order to overcome the problems. In this method, multi time step, remeshing step, and sub iteration step are introduced. The multi time step and remeshing step make it possible to satisfy a stability and an accuracy during sub iteration in which global time is determined. Finally, the proposed method is compared with the ABAQUS(2007) software and exact solution(Schiffman 1967) through two dimensional consolidation model.

A Survey on LEO-PNT Systems

  • Today, services using Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technology are provided in various fields, such as smartphone Location-Based Service (LBS) and autonomous driving. Generally, outdoor positioning techniques depend on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and the need for positioning techniques that guarantee positioning accuracy, availability, and continuity is emerging with advances in service. In particular, continuity is not guaranteed in urban canyons where it is challenging to secure visible satellites with standalone GNSS, and even if more than four satellites are visible, the positioning accuracy and stability are reduced due to multipath channels. Research using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites is already underway to overcome these limitations. In this study, we conducted a trend analysis of LEO-PNT research, an LEO satellite-based navigation and augmentation system. Through comparison with GNSS, the differentiation of LEO-PNT was confirmed, and the system design and receiver processing were analyzed according to LEO-PNT classification. Lastly, the current status of LEO-PNT development by country and institution was confirmed.

  • 문재인 정부 출범 후 한반도 외교지형에는 지각변동이 진행되고 있다. 무엇보다도 교착 상태에 빠져 있던 북핵 문제 해결, 그리고 한반도의 적대 상태 종식을 향한 새로운 동력이 생성되고 있다. 이러한 거대한 변화가 진행되고 있는데는 '운전자론'으로 표현되는 문재인 정부의 창의적인 외교정책에 힘입은 바가 크다. 하지만 문재인 정부의 외교정책은 과거 보수정권의 외교정책과의 연속성 또한 보이고 있다. 문재인 정부는 한미동맹의 중요성을 지속적으로 강조하면서 북핵문제 등의 해결에 있어 미국과의 굳건한 공조체제를 유지할 것임을공개적으로 천명하고 있다는 점에서 특히 그러하다. 사실 외교정책의 연속성 유지는 국내적 합의 기반 구축, 대외적 신뢰 제고, 기대-현실 간극의 부작용 완화 등에 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 긍정적인 효과를 수반할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The jet pump is being used in many fields for several purposes because of its simple construction and easy operation. The characteristics of the geometrical variables, pressure gradient and velocity distribution of the jet pump are studied using the CFD technique. The flow calculations through a bended nozzle. a mixing chamber and a venturi are presented and phenomenological aspects are discussed. This study solve 3-D steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using the Iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives and 3rd-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms. The Mark-and-cell concept was applied efficiently to solve continuity equation, which is differenced 2nd-order accurate central differenced scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A O-type of grid system is generated inside a nozzle and venturi of the jet pump. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

  • 최근에 제안된 WGAN(Wasserstein generative adversarial network)의 등장으로 GAN(generative adversarial network)의 고질적인 문제인 까다롭고 불안정한 학습과정이 다소 개선되기는 하였으나 여전히 수렴이 안되거나 자연스럽지 못한 출력물을 생성하는 등의 경우가 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 분별기가 실제 데이터 확률분포를 보다 정확히 추정할 수 있도록 표본화 과정을 개선하는 동시에 분별기 함수의 립쉬츠 연속조건을 안정적으로 유지시키기 위한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 다양한 실험을 통하여 제안 기법의 특성을 분석하고 성능을 확인한다.

측풍영향을 고려한 고속전철 주위의 비압축성 점성 유동 해석 (Incompressible Viscous Flow Analysis around a High-Speed Train Including Cross-Wind Effects)

  • The flow field around a high-speed train including cross-wind effects has been simulated. This study solves 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the inertial frame using the iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives, 3th-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms and 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme for the viscous terms. The Marker-and-Cell concept was applied to efficiently solve continuity equation, which is differenced with 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A C-H type of elliptic grid system is generated around a high-speed train including ground. The Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model was implemented to simulate the turbulent flows. To validate the present procedure, the flow around a high speed train at constant yaw angle of $45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$ has been simulated. The simulation shows 3-D vortex generation in the lee corner. The flow separation is also observed around the rear of the train. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.
