Segmentation and Contents Classification of Document Images Using Local Entropy and Texture-based PCA Algorithm (지역적 엔트로피와 텍스처의 주성분 분석을 이용한 문서영상의 분할 및 구성요소 분류)

  • A new algorithm in order to classify various contents in the image documents, such as text, figure, graph, table, etc. is proposed in this paper by classifying contents using texture-based PCA, and by segmenting document images using local entropy-based histogram. Local entropy and histogram made the binarization of image document not only robust to various transformation and noise, but also easy and less time-consuming. And texture-based PCA algorithm for each segmented region was taken notice of each content in the image documents having different texture information. Through this, it was not necessary to establish any pre-defined structural information, and advantages were found from the fact of fast and efficient classification. The result demonstrated that the proposed method had shown better performances of segmentation and classification for various images, and is also found superior to previous methods by its efficiency.

Analysis of the dentistry-related contents uploaded on YouTube Korea (YouTube 내의 치과 관련 한국어 컨텐츠 현황 분석 및 활용 방안)

  • Objective: Previous studies suggested the potential influence of YouTube videos regarding dentistry on the mass population. However, there was not any clear investigation for Korean population. We aimed to systemically analyze the type of the dentistry-related videos uploaded on YouTube Korea and the accounts used for uploading, and to assess their effect on the view count of the content. Methods: Classification, type of the accounts, and view count of the videos listed by the keyword 'dentistry' were analyzed, which were uploaded on YouTube Korea platform from September 2017 to April 2019. Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc analysis was used to assess the effect of the classification of the videos and the type of accounts on the view count. Results: 1.026 videos were enrolled to the analysis. Primary classification of the videos was information/education, advertisement, life, news, child contents, autonomous sensory meridian response, broadcast, cartoon/game, humor, and music. Secondary classification of the videos was dental experience, advertisement, role-playing, information/education., humor, cartoon/game, child contents, life, and broadcast. Type of the accounts was dentistry associates, general public, media company, and government office (sorted by frequency). Subject of the most videos (93.6%) was general public. There was statistically significance in the view count of the videos according to the primary and secondary classifications, the account used for uploading, and target subject of the videos. Conclusion: Dentists and their associates should recognize the importance of YouTube platform and try to monitor and intervene the dentistry-related contents, considering its huge impact on the general public.

  • Currently, the market of digital contents such as e-books, cartoons and webtoons is growing up, but the copyrights infringement are serious issue due to their distribution through illegal ways. However, the technologies for copyright protection are not developed enough. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the NSS-based publication classification method for copyright protection. Using histogram calculated by NSS, we propose classification method for digital contents using SVM. The proposed algorithm will be useful for copyright protection because it lets us distinguish illegal distributed digital contents more easily.

  • According to Vietnam government establishes additional thermal power plant, processing the coal ash from power plant is urgent issue. This study targeted reducing unburned carbon contents in low quality fly ash to below 6% that according to international standards. As a result, the unburned carbon contents of low quality fly ash was high and irregular as 5.3~23.6%, and it was possible to reduce unburned cabon contents to under 6%, in case of unburned carbon contents below 9.8% ashes using air classification, in case of unburned carbon contents below 23.6% ashes using combined process composed of air classification and electrostatic separation.

  • With the evolution to distributed computing technology, the concept of conventional client/server function has been advanced to Service-Oriented Architecture, which can share the information between heterogeneous systems as services. To success Service-Oriented Architecture, the conjunction between business layer and application layer is one of the important techniques. In this paper, we classify services into two views, vertical and horizontal, and introduce matching technique with service classification for SOA.

Language Identification in Handwritten Words Using a Convolutional Neural Network

  • Documents of the last few decades typically include more than one kind of language, so linguistic classification of each word is essential, especially in terms of English and Korean in handwritten documents. Traditional methods mostly use conventional features of structural or stroke features, but sometimes they fail to identify many characteristics of words because of complexity introduced by handwriting. Therefore, traditional methods lead to a considerably more-complicated task and naturally lead to possibly poor results. In this study, convolutional neural network (CNN) is used for classification of English and Korean handwritten words in text documents. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method works effectively compared to previous methods.

  • It was investigated what is the reasonable landcover classification system for the nonpoint pollution models. According to the parameters of the nonpoint pollution models, runoff curve number, crop management factor and Manning's roughness coefficient, the landcover classification system was proposed to manage the drainage basin of the Woopo wetland. Also, the rule-based classification method was adopted to extract the landcover information for this study area.

To develop the classification method of Agricultural by-productions for biogas production

  • The objective of this study was to develop the classification method of various organic wastes. Specifically, the effects of proximate composition on the biogas production and degradation rates of agricultural by-production was investigated and a new standards for mixture of various organic wastes based on proximate composition combination was developed. Agricultural by-products (ABPs) with medium total carbohydrate, medium crude protein and low fat contents demonstrated the single step digestion process. ABPs with low total carbohydrate, high crude protein and high fat contents demonstrated the two step digestion process of Diauxic growth. The single ABP (Class No. 15) and the mixed ABPs (Class No. 12+18, 6+12+22, 9+12+18) after 10days showed the similar biogas yield pattern. We can use the classification method for the more ABPs and organic wastes from factory and municipal waste treatment plant for the high efficient biogas production.

In this thesis, let us suggest 'Tannin', one of the elements which is consisted in the wine taste, as one of the classification standard, and divide the classification standards of wine between the characteristics of wine and the outer environment.

  • The system facilities in mobile communications networks are mainly classified into the coverage and usage in the viewpoint of the investments requirements. Based on the classification criterion, the interconnection charging between the wired operators art wireless operators is determined. In this paper, to decide the scale of the interconnection charging a new classification method is proposed by using the system capacity(Erlang, throughput) and subscriber`s estimated demand. The coverage ratio is first evaluated for each facility, and then more efficient interconnection charging model will be presented.
