Determinants of Online Review Helpfulness for Korean Skincare Products in Online Retailing

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine how to review contents of experiential and utilitarian products (e.g., skincare products) and how to affect review helpfulness by applying natural language processing techniques. Research design, data, and methodology: This study uses 69,633 online reviews generated for the products registered at Amazon.com by 13 Korean cosmetic firms. The authors identify key topics that emerge about consumers' use of skincare products such as skin type and skin trouble, by applying bigram analysis. The review content variables are included in the review helpfulness model, including other important determinants. Results: The estimation results support the positive effect of review extremity and content on the helpfulness. In particular, the reviewer's skin type information was recognized as highly useful when presented together as a basis for high-rated reviews. Moreover, the content related to skin issues positively affects review helpfulness. Conclusions: The positive relationship between extreme reviews and helpfulness of reviews challenges the findings from prior literature. This result implies that an in-depth study of the effect of product types on review helpfulness is needed. Furthermore, a positive effect of review content on helpfulness suggests that applying big data analytics can provide meaningful customer insights in the online retail industry.

내용중심 대학 교양영어교재 사용결과 분석 (College English Education Using a Content-based English Textbook)

  • This paper analyzed the effect of using a content-based English textbook in teaching English to Korean college students. The textbook reflected the recent trend in EFL/ESL development that subject matters should be taught as part of the language instruction. The analysis of the questionnaire survey conducted to college students at the end of the semester revealed an encouraging result that this new type of ELT college textbook is effective in helping Korean college students prepare for learning their subject areas through English. Based on this positive outcome, a suggestion is made that the current general purpose college English teaching curriculum be shifted toward a content-based specific purpose type to accommodate the increasing demand of learning subject areas through English in colleges in Korea.

대중음식점 발생원별 음식물 찌꺼기의 특성 (Characteristic of Food Waste in Different Types of Restaurants)

  • The purposed of this study was to investigate the efficient recycling of food waste according to the restaurants type. To the investigated of characteristic of food wastes in different types of restaurants we were collected the sample of 60 as Korean 35 Chinese 10 Japanese 5 Western 5 Flour 5 in Swoon. The average water content of food waste was 79.9% and Korean restaurant was 80.3% which was hig-her than that of any other serving type. On the examination of a organic matter content of food waste according to the season crude fiber was higher in may and July crude protein content was higher in January and march than that other seasons. The average pH of food waste was 4,74 C/N ratio was 15.8 and the average cation content was K 0.57% Ca 0.39% Mg 0.22% NaCl 3.36% respectively The aver-age concentration of Fe, Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr, Cd Ni were 154.37 mg/kg 24.79 mg/kg 0.27 mg/kg 5.63 mg/kg 5.49 mg/kg, 0.31mg/kg 1.07mg/kg respectively.

  • 블록형 구조물의 구축은 완구의 목적으로 널리 사용되고 있으며 이외에도 제품 디자인을 위한 래피드 프로토타이핑 및 창의학습을 위한 도구로도 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 블록형 구조물을 적은 비용으로 손쉽게 설계하고 구축하기 위하여 블록형 구조물 자동 생성 기능 및 편집 기능을 제공하는 소프트웨어 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템을 이용하여 가상공간에서 자유롭게 블록형 구조물을 생성 및 편집할 수 있고, 실제 구조물의 조립을 위한 매뉴얼로 활용할 수 있다.

한방 외용제 개발을 위한 건강한 성인 남녀 25명의 피부 특성 분석 (Analysis of Skin Characteristics of Twenty-five Healthy Adults to Develop Future Herbal Applications)

  • Objectives : The aim of present study was to investigate the skin characteristics of twenty-five healthy Korean subjects. These results can be used as basic data for the development of future herbal applications. Methods : Skin type, hair and scalp condition, water content, sebum content were investigated through the measurement of skin conditions and subjective questionnaire survey to know the skin characteristics of subjects. Results : Most of subject has 'Dry Skin' and they have trouble about their keratin(dandruff), scalp itching, alopecia, hair texture, scalp moisture. Conclusions : More studies are needed to investigate the skin characteristics of healthy Korean subjects.

Laboratory investigation for engineering properties of sodium alginate treated clay

  • The formation of biopolymer-soil matrices mainly depends on biopolymer type and concentration, soil type, pore fluid and phase transfer to influence its strengthening efficiency. In this study, the physical and mechanical properties of sodium alginate (SA) treated kaolinite are investigated through compaction test, thread rolling teat, fall cone test and unconfined compression test with considering biopolymer concentration, curing time, initial water content, mixing method. The results show that the liquid limit slightly decreases from 69.9% to 68.3% at 0.2% SA and then gradually increases to 98.3% at 5% SA. At hydrated condition, the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of SA treated clay at 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 3% concentrations is 2.57, 4.5, 7.1 and 5.48 times of untreated clay (15.7 kPa) at the same initial water content. In addition, the optimum biopolymer concentration, curing time, mixing method and initial water content can be regarded as 2%, 28 days, room temperature water-dry mixing (RD), 50%-55% to achieve the maximum unconfined compressive strength, which corresponds to the UCS increment of 593%, compared to the maximum UCS of untreated clay (780 kPa).

  • Korean Cultural Content Industry is developing creative cultural content based on internationally acknowledged manufacturing capacity, however, in order to become cultural industry with international competitiveness, it has to be planned and made in OMSU way. This research studied and analyzed successful cases of cultural content digital restoration and excellent cases of OSMU-type that has been developed and supported by Korean Culture and Contents Agency. This study suggests the direction of growth on the basis of movement of cultural content industry and cultivating plan of human resources.

저강도 격일 운동과 매일 운동이 쥐 뒷다리근에 미치는 근 비대 효과 비교 (Comparison of Hypertrophic Effects of Low-Intensity Exercise on Rat Hindlimb Muscles between Every Other Day Exercise and Everyday Exercise)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the hypertrophic effects of low-intensity exercise on weight, myofibrillar protein content and Type I, II fiber cross-sectional area of hindlimb muscles of rats between every other day exercise and every day exercise. Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to 1 of 3 groups: control group (C, n=6), experimental group 1 (E1, n=7) and experimental group 2 (E2, n=7). Rats in E1 group had 7 sessions (every other day) and those in E2 group had 14 sessions (every day) of exercise in which they ran on a treadmill for 30 min/day at 10 m/min. Results: Muscle weight, cross-sectional area of type I fiber and myofibrillar protein content of soleus and myofibrillar protein content of plantaris in E1 group, and myofibrillar protein content of soleus and cross-sectional area of type I fiber of plantaris in E2 group were greater than those in C group. Cross-sectional area of type I fiber of soleus of E1 group was higher than E2 group while cross-sectional area of type I fiber of plantaris of E2 group was higher than E1 group. Conclusion: Hypertrophy of hindlimb muscles occurs from every other day exercise similar to every day exercise.

우리나라 논토양(土壤) 유형별(類型別) 이화학적(理化學的) 특성(特性) (Physico-Chemical Properties on the Management Groups of Paddy Soils in Korea)

  • 논토양에 대한 전산화(電算化)된 정밀토양조사자료(精密土壤調査資料)를 이용(利用)하여 논토양(土壤) 유형별(類型別) 13개(個) 물리화학적인 특성의 평균치(平均値)를 구하고 토양개량(土壤改良)에 대한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 제공하고자 전산자료를 분석, 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 논토양 B층위(層位)에서의 점토함량은 보통답(普通畓)이 28.3%, 사질답(砂質畓)이 11.8%, 미숙답(未熟畓)이 26.8%이었으며 토양 pH는 습답(濕畓), 특이산성답(特異酸性畓)을 제외하고는 B층(層)이 A층(層)보다 높았다. 2. 보통답중(普通畓中)에서 하천변(河川邊)논 A, B층의 점토함량은 각각 16.8%, 23.1%로 가장 낮았고 유기물함량은 42g/kg, 18g/kg로 가장 많았으며 유효인산함량도 가장 많았다. 3. 논토양 유형별(類型別) B층(層)의 유기물함량수준별 분포비율(分布比率)은 사질답, 미숙답은 10g/kg 이하가 가장 많고 특이산성답을 제외한 각 답유형에서는 10~20g/kg 범위가 가장 많았다. 4. 보통답(普通畓) B층위(層位)에서 물리화학성 상호간의 상관계수(相關係數)는 전부 1~5% 수준내에서 유의성(有意性)이 높았다.

PU/PMMA Hybrids의 물성에 대한 이온성기와 MMA함량의 영향 (The Effect of Ionic Group and MMA Contents on the Physical Properties of PU/PMMA Hybrids)

  • 두 종류의 폴리올(PTMG, PBEAG), 이온성 쇄연장제(DMPA), $H_{12}-MDI$ 및 EDA를 이용하여 폴리우레탄 수분산체(PUD)를 합성하였다. PU/PMMA hybrid는 PUD를 MMA 단량체로 팽윤 시킨 후 라디칼중합으로 제조하였다. 이온기에 따른 PUD의 입자 크기 및 필름 물성을 검토하였으며, MMA 함량에 따른 hybrid의 기계적, 열전 성질을 검토하였다. PUD내 dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA)의 함량을 2, 4, 6, 8, 10wt%까지 증가시켰을 때 유화 입경이 감소하였으며, 또한 에테르형 폴리올보다 에스터형 폴리올을 사용한 PUD의 유화 입경이 작았다. 필름 물성에 있어 이온기의 함량이 증가함에 따라 상분리도가 증가하는 것을 열적, 기계적 분석을 통해서 확인할 수 있었다. PU/PMMA hybrids에서 MMA의 함량이 증가함에도 PUD의 팽윤에 의한 유화 입경의 증가는 크지 않았다. PU의 에스터형은 DMPA의 함량이 6wt%까지, 에테르형 폴리올을 썼을 경우 DMPA 함량이 4wt%까지 기계적 강도가 MMA 단량체의 함량이 증가함에 따라 높아졌고, DSC분석에서 $T_g$는 상승하고 완만해지는 것을 확인하여 hybrid가 분자 수준의 혼합이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
