  • In information security and network management, attacks based on vulnerabilities have grown in importance. Malicious attackers break into hosts using a variety of techniques. The most common method is to exploit known vulnerabilities. Although patches have long been available for vulnerabilities, system administrators have generally been reluctant to patch their hosts immediately because they perceive the patches to be annoying and complex. To solve these problems, we propose a security vulnerability evaluation and patch framework called PKG-VUL, which evaluates the software installed on hosts to decide whether the hosts are vulnerable and then applies patches to vulnerable hosts. All these operations are accomplished by the widely used simple network management protocol (SNMP). Therefore, system administrators can easily manage their vulnerable hosts through PKG-VUL included in the SNMP-based network management systems as a module. The evaluation results demonstrate the applicability of PKG-VUL and its performance in terms of devised criteria.

  • Korean and Chinese sesames were subjected to microscopic observation and instrumental determination of fatty acid composition and sesamolin/sesamin ratio to obtain basic data for discriminating each other. The overall appearance of both samples was differently observed by stereo microscope (X8). Fatty acid composition of sesame oils, extracted from both samples with different roasting degrees, showed a similar pattern although Chinese samples cointained about 6% higher content of stearic acid and 47% lower content of linolenic acid then Korean ones. The sesamolin/sesamin ratio was remarkably lower(.039) in Chinese samples than Korean (0.67∼0.72). showing a variation depending on producing districts. Roasting degrees of raw sesames little influenced their composition of fatty acid and sesamolin/sesamin ratio. Based on the above results, it is considered that the comparison between domestic and Chinese sesames in view of their stearic and linolenic acid contents and sesamolin/sesamin ratio might be one of the potential criteria in discriminating their production origins.

  • Many researches on pressure-swirl injectors due to the variety of application have been conducted on the effects of nozzle design, operating conditions, properties of liquid and ambient conditions on the flow and spray characteristics. The breakup length of conical emulsified fuel sheet resulting from pressure-swirl atomizer using in the oil burner was investigated with the digital image processing method with neat light oil and emulsion with water content of lotto% and the surfactant content of 1-3%. The injection pressure ranged from 0.1 to 1.2 MPa was selected. The various regimes for the stage of spray development within the experimental conditions selected in this study is newly suggested in terms of Ohnesorge number and injection pressure. The breakup length for both criteria show the same tendency even though the random nature of perforation and disintegration process of liquid sheet. The stage of spray development is widely different with the physical properties of liquid atomized, mainly viscosity of liquid. The breakup length decreases smoothly with increase in the injection pressure for the lower viscous liquid.

  • Conventional filters using email header and body information equally judge whether an incoming email is spam or not. However this is unrealistic in everyday life because each person has different criteria to judge what is spam or not. To resolve this problem, we consider user preference information as well as email category information derived from the email content. In this paper, we have developed a personalized anti-spam system using ontologies constructed from rules derived in a data mining process. The reason why traditional content-based filters are not applicable to the proposed experimental situation is described. In also, several experiments constructing classifiers to decide email category and comparing classification rule learners are performed. Especially, an ID3 decision tree algorithm improved the overall accuracy around 17% compared to a conventional SVM text miner on the decision of email category. Some discussions about the axioms generated from the experimental dataset are given too.

  • For research data to be shared without legal, financial and technical barriers in the Open Science era, data repositories must have the functional requirements asked by DMP and CoreTrustSeal. In order to derive functional requirements for the data repository, this study analyzed the Data Management Plan (DMP) and CoreTrustSeal, the criteria for certification of research data repositories. Deposit, Ethics, License, Discovery, Identification, Reuse, Security, Preservation, Accessibility, Availability, and (Meta) Data Quality, commonly required by DMP and CoreTrustSeal, were derived as functional requirements that should be implemented first in implementing data repositories. Confidentiality, Integrity, Reliability, Archiving, Technical Infrastructure, Documented Storage Procedure, Organizational Infrastructure, (Meta) Data Evaluation, and Policy functions were further derived from CoreTrustSeal. The functional requirements of the data repository derived from this study may be required as a key function when developing the repository. It is also believed that it could be used as a key item to introduce repository functions to researchers for depositing data.

  • The purpose of this research was to identify the structural characteristics of open housing typologically and systematically. The main method of this study was content analysis and literature review on open housing. This study found that the typological analysis on terminology and the details of the constituents concerning structural patterns in open housing indicated that the main approaches were classified into three criteria such as 'Organization Element', 'Construction Element', and 'Equipment Element'. Organization Element was classified into 'Main Dwelling Unit Area and its Form', 'Room Organization Method', 'Relationship with the Main Dwelling Unit's External Constituents', and 'Combination Method of Support and Infill'. Construction Element was classified into 'Method of Structure' and 'Structural Element Technology'. Equipment Element was classified into 'Method of Using Duct' and 'Wet Zone Method'. The attributes were determined based on these classifications. The results of this study can be used to construct an evaluation tool and further to develop a framework in understanding open housing. Technical research should be conducted on the variables that affect the flexibility of space.

  • The standard of quality was required to promote the consumption of potato and produce the high quality processing products. It will contribute the stability for processing products and the marketability of potato. The quality was determined based on size of tuber and content of dry matter. Even though the criteria of potato quality was involved many characters of tubers, the most important things were grading and packing of potato to create the consumption. For processing of raw materials, the standard of tubers had create between producer and processor according to size of tuber and content of dry matter. The evaluation of quality was performed over the standard to enhance the control of quality. In addition, the seed potato should be taken the evaluation to disease in the field during the period of cultivation and managed under the strict regulation in storage before release to farmer. Then, the producer of seed potato will make a good relationship to farmer with high quality tubers.

  • We analysed current elementary and secondary school curriculum and subjects of social studies and ethics focused on environmental education. The criteria of content analysis is what are the keynotes of environmental education (environmentalism or ecology). In lower grades, most of curriculum and subjects are described on the standpoint of ecology. But in upper grades, environmentalism becomes the keynotes of environmental education. Ethics curriculum and subjects are constructed on the basis of ecology, On the other hand social studies and its curricula are written out skewed to the environmentalism. Overall, it seems that environmentalism and ecology are scattered in curriculum and subjects of social studies and ethics without coherent keynotes.

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the application of soil stabilization method for soft shoulder construction in the iRoad Project of Sri Lanka. METHODS : Firstly, the quantitative analysis of soil strength improvement due to soil stabilization was done for soil samples collected from iRoad construction sites. Two types of soils were selected from iRoad Project sites and prepared for soil stabilization testing by the Road Development Authority. Secondly, the appropriate stabilizer was selected at given soil type based on test results. Two different stabilizers, ST-1 and ST-2, produced in Korea were used for estimating soil strength improvements. Finally, the optimum stabilizer content was determined for improving shoulder performance. The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) test was conducted to evaluate the strength of stabilized soil samples in accordance with ASTM D 1633. The use of bottom ash as a stabilizer produced from power plant in Sri Lanka was also reviewed in this task. RESULTS : It is found from the UCS testing that a 3% use of soil stabilizer can improve the strength up to 2~5 times in stabilized soft shoulder soils with respect to unstabilized soils. It is also observed from UCS testing that the ST-1 shows high strength improvement in 3% of stabilizer content but the strength improvement rate with increase of stabilizer content is relatively low compared with ST-2. The ST-2 shows a low UCS value at 3% of content but the UCS values increase significantly with increase of stabilizer content. When using the ST-2 as stabilizing agent, the 5% is recommended as minimum content based on UCS testing results. Based on the testing results for bottom ash replacement, the stabilized sample with bottom ash shows the low strength value. CONCLUSIONS : This paper is intended to check the feasibility for use the soil stabilization technique for shoulder construction in Sri Lanka. The use of soil stabilizer enables to improve the durability and strength in soft shoulder materials. When applying the bottom ash as a soil stabilizer, various testings should be conducted to satisfy the specification criteria.
