  • The purpose of this study is to identify adult learners' decision making variables, satisfaction, and evaluation toward fashion education as a university lifelong education program. As decision making variables, this study included participation purpose, information source, and selection criteria for lifelong education center and program. Regarding satisfaction toward fashion education, this study included satisfaction toward program and satisfaction toward education condition and administrative services. Data were gathered by both questionnaires and focus group interview(FGI) with 12 adults who completed the program. While questionnaires were used for decision making variables and satisfaction, FGI was used for evaluation. Frequency was used to analyze the questionnaires and content analysis was used to analyze the results of FGI. The findings showed that respondents participated mostly because of hobby or interest and got information mostly from acquaintances. They regarded program contents as the selection criteria for lifelong education center. They also regarded lecturers' professionality as the selection criteria for the program and showed high satisfaction toward lecturers' passion. Regarding education condition and administrative services, they showed high satisfaction. FGI also showed the importance of individual competence, career development, a work-study program, a on-site study program, and lecturer. The results suggest methods to make university lifelong education programs more appealing to adults who want to attend universities for non-degree university programs.

  • The objective of this study was to develop evaluation criteria for forest education using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) model. To this end, we designed a survey based on expert advice and content analysis of previous studies on the CIPP model and forest education. The survey was conducted on 393 forest education specialists, and Cronbach's α coefficient was set as 0.6 or higher to verify reliability and validity, and to determine reliability by factor. Eventually, 52 out of 57 evaluation items were extracted, and the evaluation indexes were selected through factor analysis as follows: four evaluation indexes for the context dimension, namely "Clarity of goal setting," "Developing conditions for education," "Meeting of requirements," and "Institutional drive"; three evaluation indexes for the input dimension, namely "Acquisition of education infrastructure," "Establishment of operational support," and "Adequacy of assigned manpower"; four evaluation indexes for the process dimension, which were "Adequacy of budget allocation," "Expertise of forest education instructors," "Diversity of programs," and "Public-private academic partnership"; and five evaluation indexes for the product dimension, namely "Effectiveness of perception change," "Influence over the society," "Continuity of improvement in evaluation," "Continuity of education," and "Verification of the effects of education."

  • The multicriterion matrix technique (MM-technique) was proposed for a method of monitoring and assessment about vegetation naturalness. Four criteria and 10 subcriteria were selected and two evaluation indices such as VN-value and VN-class were used. The criteria were characterized by syntaxonomical informations of hemeroby concept and potential natural vegetation, hierarchical system between criteria, and ordinal scale of VN-values. VN-values were classified into 11 ordinal levels and condensed to five VN-classes for facilitating practical use. A vegetation map of naturalness described by combination o( two indices was proposed as an alternative resolution of the DGN map. We also discuss the organization of the map content which is a matter of grid size (unit-area). In the case study, a grid size proper to show a full account of real information of actual vegetation is less 250-grid (250 $\times$ 250 $m^2$) in a medium size of city area containing relatively fragmented ecosystems. In conclusion, it was recognized that this new assessment technique was useful and vegetation assessment was accomplished with the smaller grid size in Korea.

  • Under the Manufacturing Liability Act, consumers want to be protected from manufacturers by mitigating burden of proof as an important target to be protected. However, due to the complexity of the product, it is very difficult for consumers to prove defects from the manufacturing defect. This situation has led to a major revision of the Manufacturing Liability Act, which mitigates the burden of proof of consumers by applying fruitless liability. The Manufacturing Liability Act is comparable to the U.S., which has strong consumer rights and is protected by the Manufacturing Liability Act. The burden of proof can be regarded as the most necessary content for consumers within the manufacturing product liability law when responding to manufacturing defects. The U.S. intends to provide implications for achieving consumer protection in Korea's Manufacturing Liability Act by imitating the U.S. based on the burden of proof. Case comparison regarding burden of proof can be conducted based on various criteria, including criteria for each product and key features for determining the importance of the manufacturing product liability law. The Act on the Responsibility of Korean Manufacturing Products for the Protection of Consumers was developed based on the assessment criteria, and a remedy was proposed to protect consumers who suffered from manufacturing defects.

  • This study was aimed to validate the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating scale (ITERS). The rating scale was translated and adjusted appropriately by two researchers majoring child studies. An item-by-item comparison of the ITERS with criteria of NAEYC was conducted as the measure of content validity. 88% of the items of the ITERS was covered on the NAEYC criteria. Criterion validity was assessed by comparing ITERS scores and the Assessment Profile for early childhood Programs scores. The total correlation of two scores was .87. The sample for the inetrater reliability and internal consistency studies included 30 infant/toddler classes in 30 day care center in Inchon city. Two observers independently rated each class on the ITERS during a single visit. The Spearman's correlation coefficient for interater reliability on the overall scale was .74. For the measure of internal consistency, the Cronbach's Alpha score on the overall scale was .93. The rating results show that national/public child care centers have better quality in Adult Needs and Learning Activities subscales than private child care centers have.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose an analytical model for evaluating Internet Web sites, that is comprehensive and flexible enough to accomodate different categories of Internet Web sites. This paper is intended to identify critical success factors of Internet Web sites to determine criteria for evaluating the Web sites, and use the criteria to develop a framework for comprehensive evaluation of Internet Web sites. The framework consists of eight categories, including design, business functions, trustworthiness, interface, technology, community, contents, and others. An empirical study designed to validated the framework has been conducted for each of the three Web site categories, including (1) information provision, (2) product sale, and (3) customer service. The results show that ‘content ’ is the most important for information provision Web sites, ‘trustworthiness’for product sale Web sites, and ‘design’ for customer service Web sites. The framework may be used not only as a tool to evaluate Internet Web sites, but also as a checklist to improve the quality of a Web site that is under development.

  • The refuse-derived fuel(RDF) is manufactured using waste plastics-based materials and its physical and chemical properties are analyzed. The manufacturing process consists of hand picking, primary magnetic separation, crushing, secondary magnetic separation, feeding and extrusion. The RDF products have a higher calorie content of over 6, 000 ㎉/kg and high stability because the waste plastics and paper are mainly selected. The combustion flue gas of RDF products is satisfied with the emission criteria of incinerator. The heavy metal concentration of combustion byproduct from the RDF boiler is also satisfied with the criteria and appears to be lower concentration than that of a common municipal waste incinerator.
