치즈 숙성 중의 곰팡이 오염 방제 - 현황과 전망 (Prevention of Fungal Contamination during Cheese Ripening - Current Situation and Future Prospects)

  • Molds cause severe cheese deterioration, even though some white and blue molds are used for the manufacture of Camembert and Blue cheese, respectively. The species of Geotrichum, Moniliella, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Mucor, Fusarium, Phoma, and Cladosporium are the main fungi that affect contamination during cheese ripening. Once deteriorated by fungal spoilage, cheese becomes toxic and inedible. Fungal deterioration of cheese decreases the nutritional value, flavor profiles, physicochemical and organoleptic properties, and increases toxicity and infectious disease. Fungal contamination during cheese ripening is highly damaging to cheese production in Korean farmstead milk processing companies. Therefore, these companies hesitate to develop natural and ripened cheese varieties. This article discusses the recent and ongoing developments in the removal techniques of fungal contamination during cheese ripening. There are 2 categories of antifungal agents: chemical and natural. Major chemical agents are preservatives (propionic acid, sodium propionate, and calcium propionate) and ethanol. Among the natural agents, grapefruit seed extract, phytoncide, essential oils, and garlic have been investigated as natural antifungal agents. Additionally, some studies have shown that antibiotics such as natamycin and Delvocid$^{(R)}$, have antifungal activities for cheese contaminated with fungi. Microbial resources such as probiotic lactic acid bacteria, Propionibacterium, lactic acid bacteria from Kimchi, and bacteriocin are well known as antifungal agents. In addition, ozonization treatment has been reported to inhibit the growth activity of cheese-contaminating fungi.

현행 주유소 지하유류저장시설 관리의 문제점과 토양${\cdot}$지하수 오염 방지를 위한 개선방안 연구 (Current Issues on the Oil UST Management and Future Directions for the Prevention of the Subsurface Contamination)

  • 본 연구에서는 주유소 지하유류저장탱크 관리 현황 및 문제점을 살펴보고 이의 개선방안을 제안하였다. 탱크가 제작, 설치, 관리. 그리고 용도폐지 되는 전 과정에 관련한 규정 및 제도, 그리고 시설기준을 검토한 결과, 탱크가 제작되어 용도 폐지 될 때까지 미흡한 관리가 이루어지고 있으며, 현행 시설기준도 미국 및 다수의 EU 회원국가들에 비하여 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 토양오염검사 결과 및 기타 자료들을 비교 분석하여 토양오염검사의 실효성을 검토하고, 지하유류저장탱크에 의한 실제 누유 가능성을 추정하였다. 개선방안으로는 첫째, 오염방지조치 등 시설기준 강화 - 신규시설의 시설기준강화, 기존시설에 대한 개선조치 수립; 둘째, 토양오염검사의 탱크 및 배관 검사의 대체; 셋째, 탱크제작 및 시공관리 강화, 넷째, 비직영주유소의 토양오염위험 관리를 지원하기 위한 방안 마련; 기타, 주유소 소유운영자에 대한 토양오염관리 교육과 전국 지하유류저장시설의 누유감지 및 방지시설의 설치유무와 시설운용 현황에 대한 자료구축을 제안하였다.

신선 고추의 수확, 선별 및 유통 단계에서의 미생물 모니터링 및 미생물 오염 저감화 방법 모색 (Prevention of Microbial Contamination Through Monitoring of the Harvesting, Sorting, and Distribution Stages of Fresh Hot Pepper)

  • 본 연구에서는 고추의 수확 및 유통 단계에서 미생물 오염 수준과 그 발생원인을 확인하였고, 이를 바탕으로 수온도는 냉장 보관 보다 상온 보관일 때 미생물 오염 수준이 더 높은 것으로 나타나 냉장 보관이 미생물 오염 예방에 더 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 추가로 소형 플라즈마를 이용하였을 때 초기 균 수 대비 5일차에서 일반세균 3.0 log CFU/g 감소, 대장균군, 효모/곰팡이는 불검출로 나타났고 플라즈마 발생장치 없는 경우 5일차에 대장균군이 2.1 log CFU/g 수준으로 검출되어 소형 플라즈마 발생장치가 보관 및 유통과정 중의 미생물의 저감에 효과적일 것으로 판단되었다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 수확단계에서 미생물학적 위해요소 발생원인 중 하나인 작업자의 장갑을 주기적으로 교체하고 현장에서 쉽게 수행 가능한 냉장 유통 방법과 신선 고추의 수확 후 보관 및 유통 중에 소형플라즈마 장치를 이용한다면 고추의 미생물 오염을 감소시키는데 효과적인 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 고추 이외에도 다른 신선농산물의 수확, 선별 단계나 유통단계에 미생물의 오염을 예방 또는 저감화 하는데 이용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.

의료기관 내 영상의학 검사 장비의 표면 오염도 분석 연구 (Research on Surface Contamination Analysis of Radiology Examination Equipment in Medical Institutions)

  • 본 연구에서는 대전지역 종합병원 중 일반촬영장치, CT, MRI 검사 장치 각 2대씩 선정하여 시간대 별 검사 장치의 표면오염도를 측정하여 감염도를 예측하고 감염 예방을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 실험을 하였다. 그 결과 일반촬영장치와 MRI 검사장치의 시간대 별 표면 오염도는 13시>8시>16시 순이였으며, CT검사 장치는 13시>16시>8시 순이었으며 이는 검사 건수의 영향으로 나타났다. 또한 검사 장치 부위 별 표면 오염도 결과는 일반촬영장치는 Stand Bucky 손잡이, CT 검사장치는 머리받침대, MRI 검사 장치는 조작 스위치에서 ATP 오염도 수치가 가장 많이 나왔으며, 이는 접촉 건수와 밀접한 관계가 있었다. 소독 전후를 비교한 결과 소독 후 모든 장치에서 유의한 차이로 감소한 결과를 보였다. 실험 결과를 바탕으로 영상의학과 검사실의 오염도를 파악하고 감염질환을 예방할 수 있는 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다.

Ochratoxin A Contamination of Red Chili Peppers from Chile, Bolivia and Peru, Countries with a High Incidence of Gallbladder Cancer

  • Our previous study detected aflatoxins in red chili peppers from Chile, Bolivia, and Peru, each of which have a high incidence of gallbladder cancer (GBC). Since the aflatoxin B1 concentration was not so high in these peppers, it is important to clarify the presence of other mycotoxins. Here we attempted to determine any associations between the concentrations of aflatoxins and ochratoxin A (OTA) in red chili peppers, and the corresponding GBC incidences. We collected red chili peppers from three areas in Peru: Trujillo (a high GBC incidence area), Cusco (an intermediate GBC incidence area), and Lima (a low GBC incidence rate), and from Chile and Bolivia. Aflatoxins and OTA were extracted with organic solvents. The concentrations of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2, and OTA were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography. The values obtained were compared with the incidence of GBC in each area or country. All of the red chili peppers from the three areas showed contamination with aflatoxins below the Commission of the European Communities (EC) recommended limits ($5{\mu}g/kg$), but the OTA contamination of two samples was above the EC recommended limit ($15{\mu}g/kg$). The mean concentrations of OTA in the peppers from Chile (mean $355{\mu}g/kg$, range < $5-1,059{\mu}g/kg$) and Bolivia (mean $207{\mu}g/kg$, range $0.8-628{\mu}g/kg$), which has a high incidence of GBC, were higher than that in Peru ($14{\mu}g/kg$, range < $5-47{\mu}g/kg$), which has an intermediate GBC incidence. The OTA contamination in the red chili peppers from Chile, Bolivia, and Peru was stronger than that of aflatoxins. Our data suggest that OTA in red chili peppers may be associated with the development of GBC.

Knowledge Level of Working and Student Nurses on Cervical Cancer and Human Papilloma Virus Vaccines

  • Purpose: To determine knowledge levels of working and student nurses about cervical cancer and prophylactic cancer vaccines. Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 259 nursing students in the Department of Nursing and 137 nurses working in Health Research and Practice Center, approved to participate in the study between April-June 2012. The study was performed universally without selecting a sample. A questionnaire that was prepared for evaluating participants' knowledge and attitudes about human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine was distributed to the nurses and data obtained from the forms were transferred to SPSS 15.00 program and statistically analyzed. Results: It was found that 54.8% of the student nurses were between 21-24 years old and 13.1% of working students were between 25-28 years old. When student nurses and working nurses were compared in terms of their knowledge about the causes of cervical cancer, their ideas about prevention from cervical cancer with HPV vaccine, their ideas about possible risks of HPV vaccine and conservation ratios of HPV vaccine, it was observed that there were no statistically significant differences (p>0.05). When student nurses and working nurses were compared in terms of the information-source about HPV, ways of HPV contamination, awareness about people who are susceptible to HPV contamination and age of HPV vaccination, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusions: It was found that all nurses had some knowledge about cervical cancer and HPV vaccine, but this was not sufficient. Therefore; it is recommended to use verbal, written and visual communication tools intensively in order to have topics on cervical cancer, early diagnosis and prevention in bachelor and master programs for nurses, to inform society about cervical cancer and HPV vaccine for public health and to teach precautions for its prevention.

  • When oil spills occur in the ocean because of a ship collision or grounding, the oil in the sea will spread to the coastline. To effectively and promptly prevent such an oil spread, the prediction of the direction and speed of the spreading oil must be made. By applying the coastal wave diffusion theory with a consideration of the effects of wind and current, the oil spreading direction and speed can be predicted promptly so that the National Disaster Prevention System can effectively and promptly take countermeasures against the attack and contamination of the coastline by such oil bands.

  • There is needed the triple pyroelectric Infrared flame detector to really recognize problem, for the prevention and early suppression of fire. This system recognizes the characteristics of fire sources in various type and is communicated the message to the operators. Therefore, the prevention and early suppression of fire is available. Especially this paper focuss on development of the self diagnosis type flame detector for preventing malfunction comparing of basic and detected values.
