Organic pollution causes eutrophication and dystrophication, which occur when excessive amounts of organic matter enters seawater. Eutrophication can contaminate sediment and harm aquaculture. Polychaeta species have been shown to restore eutrophic sediment. In this study, we used peptone to simulate a eutrophic environment and detect the levels at which eutrophication became toxic to the polychaete Perinereis aibuhitensis. Peptone concentrations were 0, 100, 200, and 500 mg/L. The median lethal concentrations were 950.35 mg/L at 48 h, 340.34 mg/L at 72 h, and 120.22 mg/L at 96 h, which are much higher than those of other aquatic species. Polychaeta species are highly tolerant of eutrophication. During the 15-day long-term experiment, sediment loss on ignition, as well as seawater total organic carbon and total nitrogen all decreased significantly (P<0.05). However, $NH_4^+$ concentration increased with time. Perinereis aibuhitensis slowed the increment of $NH_4^+$ but could not prevent its increase. Our results indicate that this polychaete is helpful in the recovery of seawater and sediment from eutrophication.

Recently evolved power electronics' based domestic/residential appliances have begun to behave as single phase non-linear loads. Performing as voltage/current harmonic sources, those loads when connected to a three phase distribution network contaminate the line current with harmonics in addition to creating a neutral wire current increase. In this paper, an enhanced performance three phase four leg shunt active power filter (SAPF) controller is presented as a solution for this problem. The presented control strategy incorporates a hybrid predictive fuzzy-logic based technique. The predictive part is responsible for the SAPF compensating current generation while the DC-link voltage control is performed by a fuzzy logic technique. Simulations at various loading conditions are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. In addition, an experimental test rig is implemented for practical validation of the of the enhanced performance of the proposed technique.

With the steady increase in the demand for flexible devices, mainly in display panels, researchers have focused on finding a novel material that have excellent electrical properties even when it is bended or stretched, along with superior mechanical and thermal properties. Graphene, a single-layered two-dimensional carbon lattice, has recently attracted tremendous research interest in this respect. However, the limitations in the growing method of graphene, mainly chemical vapor deposition on transition metal catalysts, has posed severe problems in terms of device integration, due to the laborious transfer process that may damage and contaminate the graphene layer. In addition, to lower the overall cost, a fabrication technique that supports low temperature and low vacuum is required, which is the main reason why solution-based process for graphene layer deposition has become the hot issue. Nonetheless, a direct deposition method of large area, few-layered, and uniform graphene layers has not been reported yet, along with a convenient method of patterning them. Here, we report an evaporation-induced technique for directly depositing few layers of graphene nanosheets with excellent uniformity and thickness controllability on any substrate. The printed graphene nanosheets can be patterned into desired shapes and structures, which can be directly applicable as flexible and transparent electrode. To illustrate such potential, the transport properties and resistivity of the deposited graphene layers have been investigated according to their thickness. The induced internal flow of the graphene solution during tis evaporation allows uniform deposition with which its thickness, and thus resistivity can be tuned by controlling the composition ratio of the solute and solvent.
Members of the genus Aspergillus are the most common fungi and all reproduce asexually by forming long chains of conidiospores (or conidia). The impact of various Aspergillus species on humans ranges from beneficial to harmful. For example, several species including Aspergillus oryzae and Aspergillus niger are used in industry for enzyme production and food processing. In contrast, Aspergillus flavus produce the most potent naturally present carcinogen aflatoxins, which contaminate various plant- and animal-based foods. Importantly, the opportunistic human pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus has become the most prevalent airborne fungal pathogen in developed countries, causing invasive aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients with a high mortality rate. A. fumigatus produces a massive number of small hydrophobic conidia as the primarymeans of dispersal, survival, genome-protection, and infecting hosts. Large-scale genome-wide expression studies can now be conducted due to completion of A. fumigatus genome sequencing. However, genomics becomes more powerful and informative when combined with genetics. We have been investigating the mechanisms underlying the regulation of asexual development (conidiation) and gliotoxin biosynthesis in A. fumigatus, primarily focusing on a characterization of key developmental regulators identified in the model fungus Aspergillus nidulans. In this review, I will summarize our current understanding of how conidiation in two aspergilli is regulated.
This study was performed from september 26th to October 7th 1981 to investigate the contamination problems of Nurse's hands characterized by var-ious nursing functions. A total of 50 nurse's hands were sampled from 5 different wards of H. University Hospital. The samples were cultured for isolation of microorganisms. The results were as follows: 1. Of 50 Nurses 23 were found to be contaminated by 9 species of bacilli such as Non-fermentative gram negative Bacilli, Gram negative bacilli, Oxidase positive, Enterobacter, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Gaffkya tetragens, Bacillus subtilis. 2. The contaminate rates by wards where they have been serving are; 7 (87.5%) of 8 nurses from Intensive care unit, 7(70%) of 10 nurses from general surgery ward, 3(50%) of 6 nurses from neurosurgery ward, 2(20%) of 10 nurses from orthopedic surgery ward, 4(25%) of 10 nurses from medical ward. 3. The contamination rates by the types of clinical service offered are 6(85.7%) of 7 nurses after wound dressing assist 6 (55.3%) of 13 nurses after vital sign check. 4. No statistical significance could he observed as to the between the rates of contamination of nurse's hands with various nursing functions (0.1

Purpose: This study was done to examine how medication contamination in a single-dose glass ampule is affected by minute glass flakes generated in different methods of cutting the ampule. Method: Sixty medication-containing glass ampules were randomly assigned to two groups. The number of glass flakes, resulting from two different cutting methods (with cotton and without cotton), were counted under the microscope. Contamination was evaluated by extracted the medication with a syringe and culturing it in E. coli, coliform, and aerobic bacteria culture media. Result: Fewer glass flakes were found in the ampules when the ampule was cut with cotton. The use of cotton, however, did not significantly change the degree of drug contamination. Conclusion: Although minute glass flakes generated in the ampule cutting operation did not significantly contaminate the medication and the use of cotton decreased the number of glass flakes in the ampules, glass flakes injected into the blood and tissues of the patient remain a risk factor. Therefore, pre-filled syringes or syringes with filters would be alternative methods and safeguards against the possible injection of glass flakes generated while cutting the ampule.

An optimization process for the design of groundwater remediation is developed by simultaneously considering the well location and the pumping rate. This process uses two independent models: simulation and optimization model. Groundwater flow and contaminant transport are simulated with MODFLOW and MT3D in simulation model. In optimization model, the location and pumping rate of each well are determined and evaluated by the genetic algorithm. In a homogeneous and symmetric domain, the developed model is tested using sequential pairs for pumping rate of each well, and the model gives more improved result than the model using sequential pairs. In application cases, the suggested optimal design shows that the main location of wells is on the centerline of contaminate distribution. The resulting optimal design also shows that the well with maximum pumping rate is replaced with the further one from the contaminant source along flow direction and that the optimal pumping rate declines when more cleanup time is given. But the optimal pumping rate is not linearly proportional to the cleanup time and the minimum total pumping volume does not coincide with the optimal pumping rate.
The aim of this study was to investigate the nutrient removal using Mg-Sericite flocculant in the dyeing wastewater. Mg-Sericite flocculant was removed successfully > 98% of the Color, SS. COD and BOD in the dyeing wastewater at the following optimal Mg-Sericite dosage: 100 mg/L for Colour and SS, 300 mg/L for BOD and COD. The removal of TN and TP was obtained 92.00% with 50 mg/L and 87.80% with 100 mg/L Mg-Sericite dosage, respectively. These results was indicated that the amount of 0.79~1.31, 0.22~0.37, 0.5 and 0.16 mg/L Mg-Sericite was necessary for 1 mg/L removal BOD, COD, TN and TP, respectively. The biopolymer, Mg-Sericite, can be a promising flocculants due to its high efficiency and low dose requirements. In addition, Mg-Sericite does not contaminate treated wastewater, which can be recycled to reduce not only the cost and the demand for water but also the extra operational costs for reusing wastewater. This flocculation method is helpful to lower the wastewater treatment cost.

Steady state turbulent airflow and unsteady characteristics of generation, transportation, and recovery behavior of contaminate particles in the simplified 2 dimensional Vertical Laminar Flow (VLF) type clean room was numerically simulated using the low Reynolds number k-over bar.epsilon- turbulent model. Characteristics of airflow in VLF type clean room are greatly affected by the recirculation zone around working surface. The recirculation zone must be considered at the time of clean room design because the recirculation zone whose area increases with increment of inlet velocity exerts bad influence upon the performance of clean room in terms of particle contamination. The location of maximum particle concentration changes from the location of particle source to the recirculation zone, while averaged particle concentration is reduced exponentially with time. Recovery time of clean room with spontaneous particle generation source is inversely proportional to inlet velocity. We introduce nondimensionalized recovery time through the dimensional analysis, which can indicates the general performance of clean room with design structure change. It was identified that .tau. is independent of inlet velocity and background concentration. Therefore .tau. can be the simple factor to compare the different structure of clean room in terms of dynamic response to contamination and becomes larger with better structure of clean room.
Recently, there are so many studies related safety of railway vehicle. But these studies are focused on the passenger car, metro system and high speed train. However, the leakage of hazardous materials may contaminate the environment and cause terrible damage to the ecology, even the human and properties. And so, Safety and security have been already established in many countries, currently they are investing lots of money on the development of technology to prevent accidents. Therefore it is necessary to make a systematic plan and develop safety specifications. In this study, we compared between domestic and international general oil tank car safety regulations for the hazardous materials, and prepare the basic for the making of systematic safety plans and safety regulations for the transport of hazardous materials by tank car.
