Helical gear multi-contact tooth mesh load analysis with flexible bearings and shafts

  • A multi-contact tooth meshing model for helical gear pairs considering bearing and shaft deformations is proposed. First, to easily incorporate into the system model, the complicated Harris' bearing force-displacement relationship is simplified applying a linear least square curve fit. Then, effects of shaft and bearing flexibilities on the helical gear meshing behavior are implemented through transformation matrices which contain the helical gear orientation and spatial displacement under loads. Finally, true contact lines between conjugated teeth are approximated applying a modified meshing equation that includes the influence of tooth flank displacement on the tooth contact induced by shaft and bearing displacements. Based on the model, the bearing's force-displacement relation is examined, and the effects of shaft deformation and external load on the multi-contact tooth mesh load distribution are also analyzed. The advantage of this work is, unlike previous works to search true contact lines through time-consuming iterative strategy, to determine true contact lines between conjugated teeth directly with presentation of deformations of bearings and shafts.

고속카메라를 이용한 전차선 마모 검측 영상처리 알고리즘 개발 (Development of a Technique for Detection of Contact Wire Wear using High-Speed Camera)

  • The measurement of contact wire wear in electric railways is one of the key test parameters to increase speed and maintain safety in electric railways. Wear caused by continuous interaction between pantographs and contact wires has a negative effect on current collection quality and severely damaged contact wires might cause hazardous accidents. This paper introduces a non-contact optical-based contact wire wear measuring system that will replace conventional wear detecting methods conducted by maintenance vehicles or workers. The system is implemented by high-speed cameras that can collect images of contact wires during vehicle operation, a laser used to create images profile of the contact wire surface, and a computer used to process the collected images. The proposed system is designed to assist maintenance of overhead contact lines by creating geometrically plotted images of contact wires to detect contact wire wear during operation on conventional lines or high-speed lines.

전기철도 전차선 접촉력 측정 및 분석시스템 개발 (Development of a Measurement System for Contact Force Analysis of Trolley Line)

  • A measurement system of contact force between overhead contact line and pantograph of train is developed which measures the contact force by using four sets of full-bridge strain gauges instead of load cells and accelerometers. The sensors are installed on the pan head of pantograph and the measured data from the sensors are transmitted to a server system in the train by way of wireless Lan. This configuration of the measuring system makes it easy to install on the trains without any alteration of train system. The measurement system is applied to KTX on the Kyungbu high speed line, and the measured contact force data shows good agreement with those measured by load cell and accelerometers. The waveform of the contact force between overhead contact line and pantograph contains essential information about their conditions. The proposed measurement system can probe any defects on overhead contact lines with train running at high speed, which will be a powerful solution for the maintenance of long-distance overhead contact lines.

  • The optimization of the overhead contact lines according to the increased train speed is to design the low-sag-wire so that the pantograph can follow the vertical fluctuation of the catenary. Main factors for the overhead contact lines design include the span, dropper interval, movable bracket, vertical fluctuation of the catenary, tension, and wave propagation speed. In this paper, a model is proposed to improve the electric railway speed, and the speed improvement analysis technology is examined to ensure the stable and reliable electric railway. In addition, the effect between pantograph and catenary according to the speed improvement is quantitatively analyzed by using simulation.

스크류 로터 가공용 커터의 치형설계에 관한 연구 (The Design of Cutter profiles for Manufacturing Rotors of Screw Compressor)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design cutter profiles for manufacturing rotors of screw compressor, which are based on universal milling machine. The surface profile of screw rotor which is helicoidal is derived as brief equation through the coordinates transformation of the section perpendicular to rotor axis. And the equations of contact lines between a cutter and the surface profile of screw rotor are derived. The computer program which can analyze the equation of contact lines numerically and design the cutter profiles of screw rotor is made, and verified through measuring screw rotors which are menufactured as the designed cutter by the computer program.

팬터그래프-전차선간 아크 검측 장치의 신뢰성 분석 (Reliability Analysis of Arcing Measurement System Between Pantograph and Contact Wire)

  • The current collection between pantograph and contact wire is a more critical component for need to train speed up in electric railway. The basic purpose of this paper is to establish a measure of determining arc by developing an arc detector assessment system. The system was designed under conditions of EN 50317 and simulations were conducted using the developed device. According to the results, it was possible to conduct certification tests following regulations of international standards. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we analysis contact loss of catenary system using developed arcing measurement system in Korea. The proposed arcing measurement system is expected to enhance precision of current collection quality performance assessment methods at high-speed lines and conventional lines.

  • 본 연구에서는 레이저광선의 투영을 이용한 접촉각측정기구가 개발되었다. 이 새로운 방법은 편평한 표면분만 아니라 직격이 가는 섬유를 포함한 굴곡진 표면에서는 stationary, advancing그리고 receding contact angle-을 신속하고 정확하게 측정할 수 있게 하여 준다. 가는 레이저광선이 액체와 고체사이 계면의 끝을 통과하여 tangent screen의 각도를 재는 눈금상에 중심으로부터 방사상으로 두개의 선이 나타나게 된다. 이때 눈금상에 투영된 두개의 레이저광선 사이의 각도를 접촉각으로 결정한다. 이 새로운 기구를 사용한 결과, PMMA(Perspex-CQ)상에서의 접촉각은 문헌상의 접촉각과 일치함으로써 간편하고 정확한 접촉각 측정법임을 입증할 수 있었다.

RF 소자의 소형화를 위해 실리콘 박막상에서 다양한 형태의 주기적 스트립 구조를 가지는 전송선로의 기본특성 연구 (A study on basic characteristics of transmission lines employing various periodic strip structures on silicon substrate for a miniaturization of RF components)

  • 본 논문에서는 실리콘 RFIC(radio frequency integrated circuit) 상에서 초소형 수동소자에의 응용을 위하여 다양한 형태의 주기적 스트립 구조(PSS, periodic strip structure)를 이용한 전송선로의 기본 특성을 연구하였다. 그 결과에 의하면, 본 논문에서 제안한 다양한 형태의 PSS 구조를 가지는 전송선로는 종래의 코프레너 선로(CPW, coplanar wave guide)에 비해 강한 slow-wave 특성에 의해 단파장 특성을 보여주었으며, 특히, PSS와 접지면 사이에 contact가 존재하고 PSS에 slot이 존재하지 않는 with-contact 구조가 RF 소자의 소형화에 가장 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 구체적으로 with-contact 형태의 전송선로에 대한 실리콘 박막상의 점유면적은 종래의 코프레너 선로에 비해 4.39%로 점유면적이 대폭 축소되었다. 대역폭 계산결과에 의하면 모든 형태의 PSS 구조는 적어도 차단주파수가 384 GHz이상의 광대역 특성을 보여주었다. 상기 결과들로부터 본 논문에서 제안한 다양한 형태의 PSS 구조를 가지는 전송선로는 광대역 및 초소형 RF 수동소자로써 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 알 수 있으며, 특히, with-contact 구조가 RF 소자의 소형화에 가장 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

  • The objective of this paper is to discuss technologies on assessing reliability of arc detectors by composing a system that generates and simulates occurrence of arc caused by loss of contact between pantographs and contact wires in a laboratory condition. In order to establish the arc simulator, a device that generates light having the bandwidth of arcs that occur between carbon-metal. The simulator was designed under conditions of EN 50317 and simulations were conducted using the developed device. According to the results, it was possible to conduct certification tests following regulations of international standards and the precision of the simulator was satisfactory. The proposed arc detector assessment system is expected to enhance precision of current collection quality performance assessment methods at high-speed lines and conventional lines while being referred as fundamental technologies for development of detectors suiting international conditions.

전차선과 팬터그래프 사이의 동적 상호작용 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of the Dynamic Interactions between Catenary and Pantograph)

  • Catenary/pantograph system consists of overhead lines which have non-uniform elasticity and pantographs which move at high speed and give force to the lines, therefore happen to be failed in contacts between both from time to time. In this study, as the first step to develop a dynamic simulation program, the general theory is discussed for catenary/pantograph system and appropriate modelling. And comparison is conducted with the references after making a program which referred to the contact force equation algorithm. On this algorithm, the unknown contact force is computed by the equations which was induced as combining catenary and pantograph motion equations expressed in finite difference form. Another simulation program based on the assumed contact forces algorithm was developed. In this algorithm, numerical integraion of both the overhead line and pantograph equations, which without combining, are effected for two assumed values of contact force. The correct contact force is then obtained from these two sets of results by linear interpolation to satisfy the contact condition. Through the comparative review on the outputs from this program, it is verified that this algorithm is reliable.
