Analysis of Consumers Behaviors in Pursuit of Safety in Purchases of Goods (제품구매에서 소비자의 안전추구행동 분석)

  • This research aims to examine and analyze behavior of consumers in pursuit of safety the basis of data Korea Consumer Agency in 2007 2,000 male and females older than 20 years old in Korea. In particular, this study investigates the impact of and life styles of consumers in pursuit of safety. Results of this research could be summarized as follows. First of all, Korean consumers tend to place emphasis on factors such as price and freshness rather than safety in the purchase of vegetables, meats, rice, and fruit.Second, the safety consciousness of consumers is high among female young consumers among consumers showing intermediate positions for the issue of opening domestic markets for foreign agricultural products. Third, this study also examines the impact of life styles on consumers' behavior in pursuit of safety. Such behavior is high among consumers emphasizing values on family and current consumption and showing negative attitudes opening domestic markets for imported foreign agricultural products. Finally, behavior in pursuit of safety is high among female, high school graduated, family-oriented consumers and valuing leisure and showing negative attitudes opening domestic markets for foreign agricultural products. However, safety consciousness of consumers do not generate direct impact on patterns of pursuing safety.

A Study on Aesthetic Characteristics of T-shirt Design (티셔츠 디자인의 미적 특성)

  • T-shirt has changed into advanced and stylish outwear by new paradigm, taste of consumer, awareness of recycling, spread of subculture, DIY culture, refusal of standardization and pursuit of high quality goods, etc. The purpose of this study was to analyze aesthetic characteristics of t-shirt designs that changed into diverse designs in world fashion college since 2000. The method of this study was to analyze documentaries, fashion magazines and internet fashion site. Aesthetic characteristics of t-shirt designs were expressed in deconstruction, mixture, integration and imitation. And each of external expressions and internal meanings was as follows: First, deconstruction was expressed in partial cutwork and three dimensional texture by sewing and construction drape. It means breaking the conventional structure and break-ing the boundary of t-shirt and another item and possibility of multi-vocal analysis. Second, mixture was expressed in collage of diverse ornaments, diverse fabrics and diverse patterns. It means exceeding the limit of material, elaboratenes and high quality of handwork, reflection of self-identity, brand image, fashion trend, consumer's psychology and mind of experimentation and couture. Third, integration was expressed in extension of length, width, use and style. It means unification of functions, deconstruction of items and extension of meanings and images. Forth, imitation was expressed in stain of dye, irregular and ripped sign, cut out, rough warp, drawing and washing, etc. It means subculture, rarity value, monopolization, diversity, familiarity, yearning and uniqueness.

Marketing Activities of Producers' Organization and Direction of Consumption Increase on Organic Farming Products (유기농산물 생산자 조직의 유통활동과 소비확대 방향)

  • This study analyzed marketing activities of producers' organization on organic farming products(O.F.Ps), and was inquired into direction of consumption increase by it. As a result, in order to raise marketing efficiency and to increase consumption of O.F.Ps, the present questions and issues which are to be solved is as follows: Consumer's confidence for O.F.Ps should be obtained broadly and formally. Particulary, the use of brand such as 'no pollution' or ' no pesticides' should be forbidden without institutional certification. Thus cosumers should be able to distinguish O.F.Ps from general farming products(G.F.Ps) by the brand. Also physical marketing is inefficient since many items are marketed in small amount, and marketing cost is spendedtoo much relatively. Physical marketing center to cut down this expenses should be constructed under government support largely. And the consumers' price of O.F.Ps tends to be fixed all the year round. Owing to this feature, the consumers' price of G.F.Ps have severely influece upon at once demand and supply of O.F.Ps. The associations of consumer and producer should allow O.F.Ps price to fluctuate in proportion to G.F.Ps price. Besides, both should vary marketing patterns. Finally, government should help both associations legally and institutionally to improve all economic activities.

Consumers' awareness and behavior intention on meat consumption according to climate change

  • Globally, consumers' enormous and increasing appetite for meat is one of the biggest causes of climate change because livestock industry emits more greenhouse gas than transportation. The purpose of this study is to analyze consumer awareness about the impact of meat consumption on sustainability in response to climate change. Based on the theory of planned behavior, the attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, prior knowledge, and risk perception variables were analyzed to evaluate the impact of climate change awareness over consumer behavior on meat consumption. Major findings are as follows: consumers were aware of climate change but has made few changes to their meat consumption. In addition, changes in meat consumption were found to be caused by health safety concerns, such as disease outbreaks. Significant variables related to meat consumption patterns associated to climate change impacts were household income, age, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and prior knowledge. These results suggest some implications for policy. There is a need for public relations and education to make the public aware of and better understanding of link between climate change and diet. Also, government should make efforts to raise awareness of mitigation of climate change such as comprehensive food labels which are identifying lesser impacts on climate and better dietary guideline instructions which would include coping with climate change.

Analysis of Consumers' Rational Purchase Behavior by the Purchase Stage and Product (구매 단계별 그리고 제품별 소비자의 합리적 구매선택행동 분석)

  • This research aims to analyze rational decision behavior in different stages of purchasing for consumers buying household appliance goods and deals with differences in socio-demographic features and relevant variables among completely rational, intermediatedly rational, and irrational groups as well as variables differentiating those groups. First, one third of purchasers for Kimchi refrigerators was the rational consumer while a half of purchasers for side-by-side refrigerators and washing machines was. Second, there was no significant differences in satisfactions levels after purchase between rational and irrational groups among purchasers of side-by-side refrigerators but between completely and intermediately rational groups in the case of Kimchi refrigerators. Rational groups of consumers for Tromm washing machines rely on various places for purchase and also show the high level of intention for repurchase. Third, in studies of variables differentiating rationality in purchase behavioral patterns of consumers, rational choices turn out to prevail (1) among purchasers of married, college graduated, employers, and high income in the case of side-by-side refrigerators, (2) among buyers of male, old-aged, college graduated, non-employers, low, income, and hurrying to purchase in the case of Kimchi refrigerators, and (3) among buyers of old-aged, high income, not hurrying to purchase, and visiting numerous stores in the case of Tromm washing machines.

  • Surrealism's method of expression and inspiration has been a continuous influence on fashion. What is important is how to identify and research a source of inspiration, and how to use this inspiration to guide the designs that can be worn on a real human body. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to show how to develop ideas and designs from Surrealist objects and how to contribute to the development of designs to the diversity in visual and functional effects along with the changes in consumer's interest. Documentary studies about Surrealism and Surrealist-inflected fashion applying the works of Surrealist and fashion images as a tool of historical research were proceeded. And the ideas for theme, the motifs for print patterns, and the concept of designs were borrowed from Surrealist objects touching on the imagery between the real and reflected, optical and artificial, and the designs were developed with several different visual and functional effects changing color, pattern, size, and length with the function of zippers in each item. It also gives the person wearing it amusement because it includes the concept of play and D.I.Y. With effective planning, it is possible to attract consumer's interest in the market.

A Study on Consumer Consumption Patterns and Preferences for Commercial Juk (Porridge)

  • This study examined the actual consumption status and consumer preference for juk via questionnaire survey to provide useful basic data for the development of diversified commercial juk products. The survey data were collected from a target number of 450 participants living in the Seoul area. The subjects represented different age groups (over 20 years old) and both genders. Through a market survey based on five different retailers, which included juk-specialty stores, supermarkets, and local shopping marts, 17 kinds of commercial juk were chosen for the survey. Consumption frequency and purchasing factors were examined, along with preferences toward commercial juk products and areas for quality improvement. The results revealed that 54.0% of the respondents consumed commercial juk, and male consumers exceeded female consumers in number. It was also shown that those in their $20^{\circ}{\O}s$ consumed commercial juk products the least as compared to other age groups. With regard to commercial juk preferences by type of production mode, females especially preferred specialty store juk while males preferred retort juk sold in supermarkets or local shopping marts. In addition, 85.7% of the total respondents indicated that commercial juk should be further improved in quality, and they specifically noted possible improvements in the areas of 'choice diversification' and 'healthy juk' products. Therefore, one can conclude that by making such improvements, increase in consumption and further diversification of commercial juk products could be realized.

  • Today is so-called brand war age. Brand equity has been a critical factor to evaluate the business value according to changes of competitive situation and consumer's choices under the 21 century market situation. Brand advertisement with character on TV commercial has long been common and effective ways for many years as useful methods of brand differentiation in the consumer mind. In this thesis, character's roles and possibilities are researched to enhance a brand awareness in marketing, and also the interrelation between the patterns of character and the involvement on TV commercials over several categories are analyzed through the grid model of FCB that is a advertising agency in U.S.A. The attitude of Character usage and technique are also examined by analyzing the materials and the expressive methods of characters in each category.

  • With the development of information and communication technology, logistics distribution systems and services have been improved, new types of services have been provided, and consumption patterns in consumer markets have also changed. In the domestic distribution market, the development of ICT technology, the spread of smart devices, and the growth of the e-commerce market have led to Omni-channel, a service that integrates offline channels and online channels. Omni-channel service aims to provide consumers with consistent and convenient service by integrating offline and online domain into one. Consumers can get integrated service on and offline. In this study, consumers' intention to use Omni-channel was examined by Self Determination Theory and SERVQUAL. The survey was conducted on Omni-channel user and the research model was composed of 2nd order factor model considering the characteristics of Omni-channel which provides integrated service based on the prior literature and PLS-SEM (partial least squares structural equation modeling).

Country Image: Does It Really Matter to Consumers between Korea and the U.S.? (국가이미지: 한·미 소비자들에게 과연 그렇게 중요한가?)

  • Consumers generally have different country images and purchasing patterns about products made in different countries. The essence of consumer behavior lies in psychological image on consumers' mind rather than actual characteristics of product itself. The current study examines how much country of origin influences consumers' purchase intentions focusing on Mexican products by consumers between Korea and the U.S. after establishment of NAFTA. The result of the study shows that there exists significant differences between Korean and the U.S. consumers' attitudes on purchasing Mexican products by structural equation modeling analyses.
