The level of consumer knowledge has been gradually increased with the growth of living standard of consumer and the development of communication technology. The purpose of this study was to investigate the structure and measure of consumer knowledge and to find out relationship between objective knowledge and subjective knowledge. The subjects of this study were female adults from theirs twenties to theirs forties who lived in Seoul, Kyunggi or Incheon areas and Quota sampling method was used age and areas. The data were obtained from 603 questionnaires. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10 and major statistical methods are mean, frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Cronbach's $\alpha$ coefficient. The results are as follows: 1. Objective knowledge consisted of the product knowledge, brand knowledge, purchase knowledge and usage knowledge, and subjective knowledge consisted of experience and self-evaluation knowledge. 2. Consumer knowledge was related to the subjective knowledge and objective knowledge. But, there was relatively a low relationship between subjective knowledge and objective knowledge of apparel.
The purpose of this study is to examine consumer characteristics according to analyze the level of consumer knowledge, skill, and consciousness through the comparison between young-elderly people and elderly people in Cheju. For the empirical analysis, the data was collected 428 consumers from May to June, 1999. The statistical methods for this study were descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation using SPSS Win program. The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) The level of consumer consciousness was very high, but the level of consumer knowledge and consumer skill were low. 2) Drug un, Recall system, Frozen-food management, Indication for consumer knowledge; Planning, Discontent treatment for consumer skill; Responsibility for consumer consciousness area were very low state. 3) Correlation according to Pearson's γ²were positive relationship between all of that consumer knowledge and consumer skill and consumer consciousness areas. 4) Sum of 3 findings were no great difference between young-elderly people and elderly people. From now on, some suggestions from this study how to stress on the consumer knowledge and consumer skill as well as consumer consciousness of the elderly in Cheju.
The objectives of this research; (1)To measure levels of the wife consumer competency and consumer role satisfaction (2) To investigate the sociodemographic variables influencing consumer competency (3) To determine the relationships of consumer competency and consumer role satisfaction (4) to provide the basic data useful for consumer education policies. For the evidence of this topic, research was conducted 370 wives in seoul. The major findings were; 1)Among the component of consumer competency consumer attitudes scores are highest and consumer knowledge scores are lowest. This implies that consumer education is necessary for the wife to obtain consumer knowledge. 2) Consumer skills differ significantly age and occupation and consumer knowledge differ significantly education and income 3) Resulting form multiple regression analysis, consumer competency had the positive linear relationships with the variables such as education, age and income.. The most influential variable is education, in turn age and income. but income is not statistically significant. 4) There are positive relationships among consumer attitudes, consumer knowledge and consumer skills. 5) consumer role satisfaction has positive relationship with consumer competency, Among components of consumer competency, the relationships of consumer role satisfaction and consumer knowledge is not statistically significant. This implies that consumer education for increasing consumer role satisfaction is necessary for the wife to obtain consumer skills and consumer attitudes.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a practical consumer education program for kindergarten children and to investigate whether consumer education affects their consumer knowledge and consumer behavior. The subjects of this study were 32 5-year-old kindergarten children who participated (experimental group) and 25 kindergarten children who did not participate (control group) in the consumer education program. Consumer education was held for 6 hours twice a week during October 8 to 29, 2002. Questionnaire surveys were conducted before and after the education program. Percentiles, frequencies, means, and ANCOVA were utilized for data analysis with SPSS program. The results of this study showed that consumer education had very positive and significant effects on consumer knowledge (p<.01) and consumer behavior (p<.05) among kindergarten children. Furthermore, consumer education for only three weeks had effectively enhanced kindergarten children's ability as consumers. These results imply that consumer education should be served periodically and systematically from an early age. Diverse subjects and teaching methods must be developed and utilized for consumer education of kindergarten children.
This study examined the current status of consumer competency such as consumer knowledge, consumer role attitude, and consumer skill and the related factors among female marriage immigrants. The data were collected from 220 female marriage immigrants living in Yeungnam region. The results of this study were as follows. First, the mean for consumer knowledge was 5.555, the mean for consumer role attitude was 4.067, and the mean for consumer skill was 3.841. Second, the results of t-tests and ANOVA showed that there were differences in the category of consumer knowledge according to age, educational level, marriage duration period, and Internet contact frequency. And the differences were found in age, educational level. communication with family about consumption and TV contact frequency for consumer role attitude, whereas in age, educational level, marriage duration period, employment status, communication with family about consumption and communication with friends about consumption for consumer skill. Third, according to the regression analyses, educational level was significant for consumer knowledge. Additionally, communication with family about consumption and TV contact frequency were significant for consumer role attitude, and age, educational level, communication with family about consumption and communication with friends about consumption were significant for consumer skill.
This study examines the level of consumer knowledge regarding the concept and characteristics of the sharing economy along with the role of the three economic players in the sharing economy. This study develops scales for measuring a consumer's knowledge level and the knowledge level using these scales as well as analyzes the impact of knowledge levels, socio-demographic variables, social capital, and knowledge sharing on participation in the sharing economy. The scales measuring the level of knowledge in the sharing economy were composed of 22 questions for the concept, 30 questions for the characteristics, and 15 questions for the role of the economic parties. Consumer's knowledge level regarding the concept and characteristics of the sharing economy and the role of the economic players was very low. In particular, the knowledge on the concept was insufficient. Women's knowledge on the sharing economy showed higher scores than men. Consumers with higher scores in social capital and knowledge sharing showed higher scores of the knowledge level on the sharing economy than those behind in these two variables. A higher knowledge level of the sharing economy resulted in higher participation in the sharing economy. Issues and directions for future studies on the sharing economy were proposed.
The purposes of this study were to segment outdoor wear market based on consumer knowledge and consumer demand for function/design development, and to examine the differences of demographic characteristics and purchase behavior among the segmented markets. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey. Respondents were adults aged over 20 and who have experiences of purchasing outdoor wear. The survey was made up of the questions on consumer knowledge to outdoor wear, consumer demand for product development, purchase behavior, and demographic characteristics. Frequency analysis, descriptive analysis and chi-squared test were used to conduct the data analysis on 454 questionnaires. The results of this study were as follows. It showed that the consumer knowledge was a little high and the consumer demands for function/design development were high. Six segmented markets based on consumer knowledge and consumer demand for function development were significantly different in terms of gender, income, purchase frequency and total item holdings. Also, six segmented markets based on consumer knowledge and consumer demand for design development were significantly different in terms of age, income, purchase frequency, purchase objective, purchase place and total item holdings. Compared to the segmented markets based on the consumer demands for product development, the gender was the key of the marketing strategies for the segmented markets by the consumer demand for function development while the age was the one in the markets by the consumer demand for design development. After considering all the results, the characteristics of the segmented markets were made out and the marketing strategies were established.
Purpose - The aims of this study are follows. We investigated to find out how country image and brand image affect the consumer perceived value, consumer attitude, and purchase intention of foreign infant foods in China. Especially, we focused on investigate for the moderating role of consumer knowledge between national image, brand image and consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods in China. Research design, data, and methodology - This study analyzed the effect of national image and brand image on purchase intention through consumer perceived value and consumer attitude. This study collected data for empirical analysis of Chinese consumers who have been purchase experience infant foods in China. 256 copies of questionnaire data were used for substantial analysis. Before testing the hypothesis, factor analysis was conducted to test the construct validity of measurement items. Hypotheses about effects between variables were verified using structural equation modeling analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Results - First, the country image had a positive effect on consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods. Second, the brand image had a positive effect on consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods. Third, the consumer perceived value had a positive effect on consumer attitude. Fourth, the consumer attitude had a positive effect on purchase intention. Fifth, the consumer knowledge was moderating roles between brand image and consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods. However, the consumer knowledge did not effect of moderating between country image and perceived value of consumers. Conclusions - First, the impact of country image and brand image on consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods in China can be seen as a universal psychology of consumers who trust pure foreign products such as high quality, technology, etc. Second, consumer perceived value of foreign infant foods has a positive effect on consumer attitude, and this attitude is leading to purchase intention. Third, the consumer knowledge between brand image and perceived value acts as a moderating variable. It means that the consumer's knowledge can shape the perception of the brand image more strongly.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the consumer's product knowledge and his/her ability to obtain information when buying clothing. For the purpose of this study, questionnaires were given to 550 university students living in Seoul and the Kwgi area. The questionnaires were designed to measure the consumer's knowledge about examine his/her method of gathering information and to obtain some personal information Vsing a base of 407 students, data was analyzed through cross- tabulation, the chi square test, the t-test, the one-way ANOVA accompanied by a post-hoc analysis with the Tukey method, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the Spearman rho. The results of this study were as follows. 1) There was a significant difference in the amount of iuormation seeking between groups with different knowledge related to clothing. 2) The use of information sources was found to be significantly related to the consumer's subjective and objective knowledge. 3) The consumer's level of knowledge about clothing was related to the store characteristics that he/she took into consideration. The difference between the groups came from the number of store characteristics taken into consideration, rather than from the contents. The group that had more knowledge related to clothing was more aware of store characteristics than the other level stoup. Price, quality, uniqueness, and variety of clothing were equally important to by groups. 4) A moderate relationship was found between the consumer's subjective and objective knowledge, and between his/her purchasing experience and objective knowledge. There was a relatively high relationship between purchasing experience and subjective knowledge.
