A study on the influence of Self-Leadership to Technology Innovation: Mediate Effect of Emotional Intelligence (셀프리더십이 기술혁신에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 - 감성지능의 매개효과 -)

  • This study aims to mediating effects of Emotional Intelligence on the relationships between Self-Leadership. Additionally, this study is to examine the impact of Self-leadership(behavior-focused strategies, natural reward strategies and constructive thought pattern strategies) to Technology Innovation. Hypotheses were tested by surveying 420 employees at Gumi Industrial Complex. The findings are as follows: First, all factors of Self-leadership had a significant positive effect on Technology Innovation. Second, four factors of Emotional Intelligence had a significant positive mediating effect on Technology Innovation except behavior- focused strategies of Self-Leadership. It is indicated a need for action in organization's self-leadership and it is also shown reliable criterion to effective organizational management of success in Technology Innovation.

  • This study is to find out influences of self-leadership on team-work, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. To research and analyze, from October 1st to 25th in 2008, the questionary distributed 420 working employees in wine & dining five star hotel in Seoul, then used for data analysis 356. The results come up with; First, behavior-focused strategies and natural reward strategies positively had significant team-work, and also team-work highly had significant job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Second, there was not showed up any significant relationship between constructive thought pattern strategies and team-work. The implication of this study is that if hotels provided self-leadership training programs to employees working at wine & dining, those would have increase self-leadership, positively effect employee satisfaction and organizational commitment. Ultimately it will bring positive effect customer satisfaction as well.

  • This study aims to explore the casual relation between construction company employees' Self-Leadership and two variables: Organization Citizenship Behaviour and Organizational Trust through Psychology Empowerment. To explain in details, this study examines how the independent variable, Self Leadership, with its behavior-focused, natural reward and constructive thought pattern strategies, affects the dependent variable, Organization Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Trust through the intervening variable, Psychology Empowerment. A survey was conducted on current employees of construction companies in metropolitan areas to empirically examine the research model. The result of study hypothesis on Self-Leadership is as follows; first, Self-Leadership showed a positive effect on Psychology Empowerment, Organization Citizenship Behaviour and Organizational Trust. Second, Psychology Empowerment showed a positive effect on Organization Citizenship Behaviour. Third, Psychology Empowerment showed a positive effect on Organizational Trust. The capacity of individuals is critical when it comes to competitiveness of construction companies. When employees willingly participate in building trust within the company, the work place will become more and more constructive; based on trust, efficiency will increase because people from different processes can work together and performance will also improve even when project managers are absent because others could help their role instead, thus driving more efficient human resource management to the company. To conclude, a company's vision can be spread wide and far when their employees engage themselves in Learning Organization with Self Leadership. They will also be satisfied with their work through improving interpersonal relationship at work.

The Mediating Effect of the Organizational Commitment on the Relationship between Self-Leadership and Job Satisfaction (셀프리더십과 직무만족간 관계에 있어서 조직몰입의 매개효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study verifies: the relationships between self-leadership (behavioral-focused strategies, natural reward strategies, constructive thought pattern strategies) and job satisfaction, and mediator effect of the organizational commitment. In order to verify the relationships and mediator effect, data obtained from 140 employees working in business office in Ulsan Metropolitan City were analyzed by using SPSS 12.0. The findings are as follows: First, the relationship between the self-leadership and the organizational commitment is positively related. Second, There was also a positive correlation between the organizational commitment and job satisfaction. finally, the organizational commitment played as a partial mediator on the relationship between self-leadership and job satisfaction. Based on these findings, the implication and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

The Influence of Self-Leadership of Research and Development Practitioners on Innovative Behavior via Job Satisfaction : A Comparison between Manufacturing and ICT Industries (국내 기업 연구개발 종사자의 셀프리더십이 직무만족을 매개로 혁신행동에 미치는 영향 : 제조업과 정보통신업 비교)

  • In this study, we compared and analyzed the influence of self-leadership on innovative behavior and the mediating effect of job satisfaction among R&D practitioners in manufacturing and information communication technology (ICT) industries. To accomplish this, we conducted an online survey using random sampling methods and collected data from 209 respondents. We employed exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and mediation analysis using SPSS 20.0 software to analyze the data and to compare differences between the manufacturing and ICT sectors. The research findings are as follows: Firstly, both in manufacturing and ICT sectors, self-leadership showed significant positive correlations with job satisfaction and innovative behavior. Secondly, in the analysis of the impact of self-leadership on innovative behavior, in the manufacturing sector, only natural reward strategy and constructive thought strategy showed significant positive effects, while in the ICT sector, behavioral-oriented strategy, natural reward strategy, and constructive thought strategy all showed significant positive effects. Thirdly, in the analysis of the impact of self-leadership on job satisfaction, in the manufacturing sector, only natural reward strategy and constructive thought strategy showed significant positive effects, while in the ICT sector, behavioral-oriented strategy and natural reward strategy showed significant positive effects. Fourthly, in the analysis of the impact of job satisfaction on innovative behavior, significant positive effects were observed in both manufacturing and ICT sectors, with manufacturing sector having relatively greater impact than ICT sector. Lastly, the results of the analysis on the mediating effect of job satisfaction indicate that in the manufacturing sector, only a constructive thinking strategy significantly influences, showing partial mediating effects. However, in the ICT sector, no mediating effects of job satisfaction were observed for any sub-factors of self-leadership. These research findings highlight differences in the mechanisms of action of self-leadership on innovative behavior and its mediating effects between the manufacturing and ICT sectors. Furthermore, the results suggest the importance of improving organizational strategies and culture towards promoting leadership, job design, and job satisfaction, considering the characteristics of each industry and research and development organization.

  • Recently concept of self-leadership that leads one's own activities toward right direction through self-control or self-management has been being focused on practices as well as academia. This study is to investigate the influence between self-leadership strategies and learning performance at IT classes mediated by attitude of attendance focused on the social science students at an university. This study performed the comparative study to investigate whether differences among Korean(64 samples) and Chinese(31 samples) students is or not Research results can give us right direction of task-taking attitudes in firms or learning attitudes in teaching organization and implications to human resource managers who are in charge of improving learning performance or productivity.

  • Many organizations have had deep interests in studies concerning leadership and also in academic area, not only management but also psychology. Until now, the leadership has been accentuated to managers or team leaders especially. Recently, however, the concept of self-leadership that lead one's own activities toward right direction through self-control or self-management is being focused on practices and academia.   • This study is about self-leadership, which is leadership that we exercise over ourselves. In this study, I analyzed the effects of self-leadership on students' focusing on their goal commitments and self-efficacy's role as link between self-leadership and students' focusing on their goal commitments. In order to accomplish research purposes, I conducted a survey of 300 University students in Busan and carry out empirical study of 276 University students. As a result of analysis, I draw conclusions as follows. First, Hypothesis1 is adopted because the research results show that self-leadership has positive effects on students' focusing their goal commitments. Second, Hypothesis2 is adopted because the research results show that self-leadership has positive effects on students' self-efficacy. Third, Hypothesis3 is adopted because the research results show that self-efficacy has positive effects on student's focusing on their goal commitments. Forth, I conducted Mediating regression to see if self-efficacy plays a mediator role between self-leadership and student's focusing on their commitments. And the results show that behavior-focused strategies, constructive thought pattern strategies and natural reward strategies have perfect mediating effects. This study shows the importance of building self-leadership for young generations to be effective leaders of themselves.

The Effect of Self-leadership Program for Nursing Students on Empowerment, Self-directed Learning, and Happiness (간호대학생을 위한 셀프리더십 프로그램이 임파워먼트, 자기주도적 학습능력, 행복감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to apply self-leadership program using films to nursing students and to confirm the effects of self-leadership, empowerment, self-directed learning and happiness. The study participants were 60 nursing students, the data was collected from March 7, to June 13, 2017. The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test using SPSS WIN 24.0 computer program. The self-leadership program consisted of 13 sessions, and 14 films were used for self-management, self-training, and self-branding. The self-leadership of nursing students was significantly increased after education(t=-4.38, p<.001). In details, behavior-focused strategies, natural-reward strategies, and constructive thought pattern strategies were all significant. Empowerment also increased significantly after education(t=-5.83, p<.001), and personal skills, collective recognition, and self-determination were all significant. Self-directed learning were high after education(t=-3.31, p=.002), and learning plans and learning practices were significant. In addition, the happiness of nursing college students was significantly higher after education(t=-4.49, p<.001). As a result of this study, self-leadership program using movies can improve self-leadership, empowerment, self-directed learning and happiness of nursing students and It will be possible to apply as educational intervention in the future.

The Effect of Role Conflict, Self Leadership on Teacher's Psychological Welfare (보육교사의 역할갈등, 셀프 리더십이 심리적 복지에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of childcare teachers' role conflict and self leadership on psychological welfare. 64 day care centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were selected as its subjects and correlations and multiple regression analysis were conducted for 260 childcare teachers from the day care centers. The results of this study were as below. First, in terms of the relationships between childcare teachers' role conflict, self-leadership and psychological welfare, it has been shown that correlations of role stress, role ambiguity, action orientedness, constructive thought, and positive welfare were found in all sub-areas except for the sub-variables of natural reward and negative welfare, whereas correlations of role ambiguity, action orientedness, positive welfare were found also in all sub-areas except for the same sub-variables above. Second, after conducting multiple regression analysis, it has been noted that the variables that affected psychological welfare the most were natural reward followed by role ambiguity and role stress, whereas no statistical significance was found in all other sub-variables.
