  • According to Department of labor guideline "2012-104 (2012.9.26.)" This study is to suggest the basic information and the improvement for the application of risk assessment on a construction site by group interview & survey of construction worker who is the practice of the subject and then numerical analysis about awareness and action plan of Safety and health. The result of group interview and survey of construction worker, most of construction worker feel the danger during the work. Then construction worker analysis results that risk assessment helps to change & raise awareness of safety and reduce an industrial disaster. Easy Safety management activity such as TBM & safety education active will be necessary for safe worksite and then I suggest the TBT(tool box talk) active which combines TBM & safety education.

  • In the era of AI, intelligent construction safety technologies are being introduced to the construction safety environment, but the application of AI has limitations due to the lack of accident images to learn in complex construction sites. In order to overcome this, we will introduce an intelligent risk detection system that dramatically improves risk detection accuracy by combining AI with digital twin technology, and introduce various cases.

  • While the local plant market is reducing its volume, the plant market over the world since 2000s is rapidly expanding. The nation's construction companies, aggressively dedicated in launching out overseas plant market, increase the volume of orders in that sector, but there also are much difficulty in the project management as those projects ordered are gradually large scaled with more cutting-edge high-tech requirements along with comparatively higher risk. Though the local construction companies have developed their own types of measures to analyze the risk evaluation putting into practice, the specialized decision-making model for the overseas plant market or the risk measure understandable easily and applicable practically is not yet shown. This paper aims at providing the methodology to evaluate the risk by way of constructing the risk evaluation process in order to induce risk measuring elements through appropriate indexing system. Furthermore, through studying the risk management system, it aims to seek for a thorough risk management method from beginning of the project to the end.

  • It is more effective and more efficient to manage schedule and risk at a same time because many risks occur in construction phase in building construction projects. The objective of this paper is to propose a tool that manages risks in a project management software. The tool is implemented by VBA in Microsoft Project, and enables field managers of a construction project to make schedules and to help to predict risks.

  • The losses of accidents in the construction industry was significantly increased during the past decades. Therefore, the study of risk management measures in the domestic construction has become very important, and the inherent risk factors need to derive and analyze them based on the quantified method. However, most studies on the construction risk are conducted finding on the qualitative way. This study analysis the accident records from actual construction sites as a quantities study. A correlation analysis and regression analysis are adopted to identify the risk factors and develop a model. The results of this study are expected to be evolve through the accumulated effect and verification of data in the future through continuous feedback.

  • Recently, the number of accidents reported involving foreign laborers has risen, and the need to prevent accidents at construction sites has become more urgent. It has been found that 90 percent of construction accidents are caused by unsafe work practices, and various studies have been conducted on these practices with the aim of preventing accidents at construction sites. However, the tendency with previous studies was to average the results of survey responses, and as a result it is impossible to consider the potential risk of how many foreign laborers feel unsafe in relation with the unsafe practices. Therefore, in this study, importance-performance analysis (IPA) was improved in order to assess the potential risk of the unsafe practices of foreign laborers at construction sites in Korea. To verify the applicability of the improved IPA, a survey was carried out, and then the results were compared with those of the IPA. Through the use of the improved IPA, unsafe practices that were not found in the previous IPA but have potential risk were identified. The method proposed in this study is expected to contribute to the prevention of construction accidents of foreign workers by enabling a more efficient management.

  • International construction projects are exposed to various and complicated risk factors stemming from different political, economical, social, and cultural backgrounds, which make contractors entering into international construction to experience severe losses. It implies that overseas markets do not necessarily secure the high return, which is typically expected to in the high risky attempts. Accordingly, contractors need to evaluate various risk factors faced with overseas construction projects that can possibly aggravate the profitability. This paper aims at establishing a valid groundwork for further research on developing the integrated risk management model. For this end, it analyzes the long-term trend of profitability on total of 3,487 projects performed by Korean global contractors in world-wide construction markets during the last four decades. Then, it investigates the possible factors/causes of bad profit that have affected the profitability significantly through the structured surveys of 90 real overseas projects based on the project-specific information and experiences of Korean contractors in overseas markets. Furthermore, it analyzes relative importance of these factors/causes and identifies the important features expected for the risk management of international construction projects. Finally, vital distinctions between success and failure projects and lessons learned to improve profitability are then distilled.

  • This study investigated checked risk level before bid, actual risk level after award, contingency, and cost growth rate in the 124 international construction projects executed by Korean major companies. This study conducted comparative analysis by product type using rank analysis, ANOVA and correlation analysis. As a result, plant and civil projects have worse risk level than architecture projects not only in before bid but also in after award. Especially, country risk is the worst risk in both plant and civil projects, followed by project risk and capability risk. Also, although plant and civil projects reflect more contingency than architecture projects, contingency is not correlated with the checked risk level before bid. Lastly, the cost growth rate is correlated with the actual risk level in all product types. This study is expected to support in planning better practical risk management for international construction projects.

  • The results of the study include a computerized system and a systematic process model for risk management and analysis. This study analyzes the present status of risk management in the construction industry, and then suggests reasonable methods for improved risk management plans. This study defines risk management procedures as preparation, identification, analysis, response and management to manage potential risks in the construction project. The modules for computerizing in this system consist of planning, construction, application of WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and RBS (Risk Breakdown Structure), and risk analysis. The methodology for analyzing construction risk uses fuzzy theory, and the scope of developed system is focused to the contractors. The risk management system suggested in this study operates on the Internet, for providing contractors with a useful risk management tool by online system, with web-based menus that is helpful for practical application.

  • The construction market is diversely changing because social environmental factors are rapidly transforming. Therefore, Construction projects are becoming complex and diverse. Furthermore, the risk being inherent in construction projects are increasing, and now people are considering about the risk management of construction projects in successfully handling the risk factor. The purpose of this study is first to comprehend the preparation of basic references for objective and systematic identification, categorization, and analysis of risk. Secondly it is to find the principle elements within the risk factors identified and categorized around planning process. Finally it is to manage objectively on the planning process, which forms a lot of uncertainty, in order to accentuate the importance about the risk of pre-planning process stage
