  • Clean development mechanism (CDM) validity study was conducted to suggest better and more adaptable CDM scenario on water treatment plant (WTP). Potential four scenarios for CDM project; improvement of intake pumping efficiency, hydro power plant construction, solar panel construction and system optimization of mechanical mixing process were evaluated on S-WTP in Korea. Net present value (NPV) of each scenario was estimated based on sensitivity analysis with the variable factors to investigate the CDM validity percentile. Hydro power plant construction was the best option for CDM business with 97.76% validity and $1,127,069 mean profit by 9,813 $tonsCO_2e$/yr reduction. CDM validity on improvement of intake pumping efficiency was 90.2% with $124,305 mean profit by huge amount of $CO_2$ mitigation (10,347 $tonsCO_2e$/yr). System optimization of mechanical mixing process reduced 15% of energy consumption (3,184 $tonsCO_2e$/yr) and its CDM validity and mean profit was 77.25% and $23,942, respectively. Solar panel construction could make the effect of 14,094 $tonsCO_2$ mitigation annually and its CDM validity and mean profit was 64.68% and $228,487, respectively.

  • The physical factor having a great influence among components of making values of profit model in apartment houses is equilibrium change of house and this study suggests an alternative of remodelling. It sets profit models including model dividing household of large scale into that of small scale using value making factor of apartment house and spatial composition techniques and model integrating households of small scale and converting them into those of large scale and finds that its economy is good as over 'average', evaluative value of economy is reduced as discount rate increases and economy of remodelling is superior.

  • A subcontract work order is the basis of the construction process and consists of the root and trunk of the construction industry. The construction process through a subcontract work order is an important element of project success, and it is the basic unit of creating profit in the construction industry. Therefore, correct analysis and forecasting of subcontract work orders allow correct estimation of construction cost and profit which is the foundation of corporate decision making. This study has started to provide predictions of subcontractor's bidding-ratio for decision-making. Since the actual project data has been used in this study, the contribution level of the model is highly expected in actual field. The statistical confidential level of adjusted decision coefficient is concluded low because of limited sample numbers. However, its accuracy and confidence level can be increased through increasing sample numbers, considering more variables, and studying of reducing error.

  • Despite the significant increase of Korean contractors in the international construction market, many SMCCs (Small & Medium Construction Companies) have suffered in the global financial crisis, and some of them have been kicked out of the international market after experiencing huge losses on projects. SMCCs face obstacles in the international market, such as an insufficient ability to gather information and inappropriate management of associated risks, which lead to difficulties in establishing effective business strategies. In other words, making immature decisions without an effective business strategy may cause not only the failure of one project but also the bankruptcy of the SMCC. To overcome this, the research presented herein aims to propose a decision support system for SMCCs, which would screen projects and make a go/no-go decision at the early stages of international projects. The proposed system comprises a double axis: (1) a profit prediction model, which evaluates 10 project properties using an objective methodology based on a historical project performance database and roughly suggests expected profit rate, and (2) a feasibility assessment model, which evaluates 17 project environment factors in a subjective and quantitative methodology based on experience and supervision. Finally, a web-based system is established to enhance the practical usability, which is expected to be a good reference for inexperienced SMCCs to make proper decisions and establish effective business strategies.

  • From $1960^{th}$ Korean construction industry has been rapidly grown due to Meddle-East construction market growth. To earn foreign currency and to raise overall Korean industry government has encouraged construction frontiers. As construction industry could grow up for its labour based originity but the time passes by and overseas construction market requests engineering know-how and technology for productivity to earn more profit. Over last 20 years overseas construction market share has been dramatically raised but its profit share is gradually declining. This study analyzed data sets of over 180 overseas construction projects for last 30 years of domestic contractor by using multiple-regression analysis and derived an output how input variables of characters explaining the construction project effects its profit.

  • The Construction industry in Yemen confronts many development constraints, such as the inadequate implementation of appropriate building materials and labour construction technologies. Thus, this research looks over building materials and labour construction technologies used on the local housing construction projects by verifying the percentage of construction expenditure consumed by the main construction components (Materials, Labour and Overhead and Profit), along with the implemented construction technologies. The paper conducts a survey to acquire the cost distribution of the construction main components. The outcomes of the survey were discussed; the discussion was supported by literature on similar issues from some countries. The outcomes confirmed the relatively limited percentage in labour cost and profit, and the elevated percentage of construction materials cost, which are because of the excessive and inappropriate use of materials. What's more, established that the excessively redundant unskilled labours are not effectively engaged in the construction activities, this is due to the tendency of the market in using labour-base technologies. This paper is to recommend a suitable policies and strategies has to be used to decrease cost by using efficiently appropriate construction practice and local materials, moreover take advantage of excessive labour to reduce unemployment.

  • In these days, international construction market including construction companies has much grown due to globalization and economic boom in the mid 2000's. The size of international construction market, measured with overseas revenue of 225 construction firms, has expanded 2.7 times from 2003 to 2008 according to the ENR. However, after the global financial crisis of 2008 it has faced condition of low growth. In this research, major changes of international construction market and top contractors have been studied. In this study, changes of international construction market have been analyzed in the aspect of region and product including general buildings, transportation, petroleum, etc. Then, in order to find the changes of top contractors which obtained good accomplishment, business performance of companies have been examined by the compound annual growth rate, profit margin and international revenue by comparing the data before 2008 and after. The purpose of the study is to understand major changes of international construction market. Also, strategy changes of top contractors against market stagnation, profit depreciation, high competition have been inferred through the study. The result of the study would contribute to analyzing the strategies of construction companies in international market.

  • Predict-Plan-Do is the main point to settle Safety management well, but we have neither Predict nor Plan. So just like the system of English CDM is necessary to be adapted in construction work which makes them work in full responsibility by clarifying the responsibility located step by step from planning to designing & constructing-To adapt this system needs more money for Safety than now, but this system makes companies earn maximum confidence & profit by accident prevention. Furthermore leads the nation and the society to earn large profit, then open the road to Welfare State. If you sees only the things such as money, profit, etc before your eyes, no more safety remains. That means no more respect of persons and no more welfare state.

  • This study presents an operational technique to maximize the profit of a cogeneration power plant under cost-based pool power market. In benefit side energy sale profit, heat sale profit, and supplementary fund profit for electric power industry are included and the changeable cost was considered in cost side. The profit of a cogeneration power plant is varied enormously by the operation conditions, and constraint conditions. The result of this case study can be used as a reference to a cogeneration power plant under the same power trading system.
