A Study on the Subtask Performance Using Measure Constraint Locus for a Redundant Robot (여유자유도 로봇에 있어서 성능지수 제한궤적을 이용한 부작업의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • This paper suggests a measure constraint locus for characterization of the performance of a subtask for a redundant robot. The measure constraint locus are the loci of points satisfying the necessary constraint for optimality of measure in the joint configuration space. To uniquely obtain an inverse kinematic solution, one must consider both measure constraint locus and self-motion manifolds which are set of homogeneous solutions. Using measure constraint locus for maniqulability measure, the invertible workspace without singularities and the topological property of the configuration space for linding equilibrium configurations are analyzed. We discuss some limitations based on the topological arguments of measure constraint locus, of the inverse kinematic algorithm for a cyclic task. And the inverse kinematic algorithm using global maxima on self-motion manifolds is proposed and its property is studied.

  • This paper suggests a measure constraint locus which is the loci of points satisfying the necessary constraint for optimality of a measure in the configuration space. The characterization of four measures for singularity avoidance is worked out by using the measure constraint locus. It gives a global look at the performance of an inverse kinematic algorithm whien each of measures in a kinematically redundant robot is used. The invertible workspace without singularities and the topological properties both on the configuration and operational spaces are analyzed. We discuss also some limitations, based on the topological arguments of measure constraint locus, of the inverse kinematic algorithms, and compare global properties of each of measure. Therfore, a new concept called measure constraint locus gives a methodology for obtaining a conservative joint trajectory without singularities for almost entire workspace.

  • The stud shear connector is the main force transfer member in the steel-concrete composite member, and the mechanical behavior is very complicated in the concrete. The concrete around the stud is subjected to the pry-out local pressure concentration of the stud, which can easily produce splitting mirco-cracks. In order to solve the problem of pry-out local splitting of stud shear connector, a kind of stud shear connector with constraint measure is proposed in this paper. Through the push-out test, the interface shear behavior of the new stud shear connector between steel and concrete flange plate was studied, and the difference between the new stud shear connector and the traditional stud connector was compared. The results show that the stud shear connector with constraint measure can effectively avoid the adverse effect of local pressure splitting by relying on its own constraint measure. The shear stiffness of the interface between steel and concrete flange plates is greatly improved, which provides a theoretical basis for the design of strong connection coefficient of steel-concrete composite structures.

Experimental Behaviors of the Constraint Effects A2 Depending on Displacement at Various Measuring Positions near Crack Front for STS 316L CT Specimen (균열선단 변위측정위치에 따른 STS 316L의 구속효과 A2 거동)

  • The magnitude of constraint effect $A_2$ values on the non-linear elastic plastic fracture toughness was experimentally estimated by using displacement at various measuring positions near crack tip. Constraint effect $A_2$ value was dependent on specimen configuration and on the measured displacement near crack front. The crack tip opening displacement in the vicinity of the crack tip front should be estimated within plastic region when appropriately constraint effect was calculated. It was found that the magnitude of constrain effect |$A_2$| is below 8.0 at the crack tip. But an appropriate location to measure the effective constraint effects $A_2$ at the critical value of J that crack initiation is characterizable by is r = 2mm and ${\theta}=90^{\circ}$ away from original crack tip, and the constraint effect |$A_2$| estimated is 5.3.

  • Beam stiffeners have frequently been used for raising natural frequencies of base structures. In stiffener layout optimization problems, most of the previous researches considering the position and/or the length of the stiffener as design variables dealt with structures having just simple convex shapes such as a square or rectangle. The reason is concave shape structures have difficulties ill formulating geometry constraints. In this paper, a new geometry constraint handling technique, which can define both convex and concave feasible lesions and measure a degree of geometry constraint violation, is proposed. Evolution strategies (ESs) is utilized as an optimization tool. In addition, the constraint-handling technique of EVOSLINOC (EVOlution Strategy for scalar optimization with Lineal and Nonlinear Constraints) is utilized to solve constrained optimization problems. From a numerical example, the proposed geometry constraint handling technique is verified and proves that the technique can easily be applied to structures in net only convex but also concave shapes, even with a protrusion or interior holes.

Geometrically exact initially curved Kirchhoff's planar elasto-plastic beam

  • In this paper we present geometrically exact Kirchhoff's initially curved planar beam model. The theoretical formulation of the proposed model is based upon Reissner's geometrically exact beam formulation presented in classical works as a starting point, but with imposed Kirchhoff's constraint in the rotated strain measure. Such constraint imposes that shear deformation becomes negligible, and as a result, curvature depends on the second derivative of displacements. The constitutive law is plasticity with linear hardening, defined separately for axial and bending response. We construct discrete approximation by using Hermite's polynomials, for both position vector and displacements, and present the finite element arrays and details of numerical implementation. Several numerical examples are presented in order to illustrate an excellent performance of the proposed beam model.

  • In this paper, a new stereo matching algorithm is proposed which uses th econstrainted optimization technique and the matching measures between the segments extracted from zero-crossing edges. The initial matching measures and average disparities are calculated by the features of segments on the searching window of the left and right images. The matching measure is calculated by applying an exponential function using the differences of slope, overlapped length and intensity. The coherency constraint is that neighbouring image points corresponding to the same object should have nearly the same disparities. The matching measures are iteratively updated by applying the coherency constraint. Simulation results on various images show that the proposed algorithm more acculately extracts the segment disparity.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of constraint-induced movement therapy on the involved hand function and ADL in stroke patients. Five subjects with fixing unaffected arms by CIMT were assigned to the experimental patient group and the other five patients to control group without fixing unaffected arms. The function of hand for both groups were evaluated by using Jebsen-Taylor hand function test and ADL for both groups were evaluated by FIM(Functional Independence Measure) before and after task practice. In conclusion, results of this study showed that improved hand function and ADL by CIMT in stroke patients. We concluded that CIMT can improved the involved hand function and ADL in stroke patients.

  • A major challenge in cloud infrastructure is the efficient allocation of virtual network elements on top of substrate network elements. Path algebra is a mathematical framework which allows the validation and convergence analysis of the mono-constraint or multi-constraint routing problems independently of the network topology or size. The present study proposes a new heuristic approach based on mathematical framework "paths algebra" to map virtual nodes and links to substrate nodes and paths in cloud. In this approach, we define a measure criterion to rank the substrate nodes, and map the virtual nodes to substrate nodes according to their ranks by using a greedy algorithm. In addition, considering multi-constraint routing in virtual link mapping stage, the used paths algebra framework allows a more flexible and extendable embedding. Obtained results of simulations show appropriate improvement in acceptance ratio of virtual networks and cost incurred by the infrastructure networks.

Robust Predictive Feedback Control for Constrained Systems

  • A new method for the design of predictive controllers for SISO systems is presented. The proposed technique allows uncertainties and constraints to be concluded in the design of the control law. The goal is to design, at each sample instant, a predictive feedback control law that minimizes a performance measure and guarantees of constraints are satisfied for a set of models that describes the system to be controlled. The predictive controller consists of a finite horizon parametric-optimization problem with an additional constraint over the manipulated variable behavior. This is an end-constraint based approach that ensures the exponential stability of the closed-loop system. The inclusion of this additional constraint, in the on-line optimization algorithm, enables robust stability properties to be demonstrated for the closed-loop system. This is the case even though constraints and disturbances are present. Finally, simulation results are presented using a nonlinear continuous stirred tank reactor model.
