간호사의 윤리적 딜레마와 대처유형 (Ethical Dilemma and Coping Types in Nurses)

  • This study was conducted to examine the ethical dilemma and coping types of nurses, and identify the relationship between ethical dilemma and coping types of nurses. The subjects of this study consisted of 210 nurses from two university hospitals in Taegu and one university hospital and one general hospital in Pohang. The data were collected with self reported questionnaire from June 2003 to July 2003. The data were analysed using the SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The mean score of level of ethical dilemma was 0.55/1, and client area was the highest(M=0.65). 2. The mean score of level of coping about ethical dilemma was 2.22/4, and seeking social support area was the highest (M=2.42). 3. The conflict of proffering the best care with courtesy to impolite patient was the highest in total items of ethical dilemma. Criticized or lectured myself was the highest in total items of coping type. 4. In general characteristics, age(F=4.74, p<.01), marital status(t=2.67, p<.01), career (F=5.95, p<.01) were significantly related to level of ethical dilemma and religion(t=2.27, p<.05) was significantly related to types of coping. There was positive correlation between ethical dilemma and types of coping(r=.228, p<.01). On the basis of these findings, it is needed a correlation study according to category of ethical dilemma and coping types of nurses, and to develop the coping strategy that resolves ethical dilemma in nursing practice.

결혼이주여성을 위한 통합예술치료 프로그램이 자기유능감 및 갈등대처방식에 미치는 효과 (Effects of an Integrative Art Therapy Program on Self-Efficacy and Conflict Coping Strategies in Marriage Migrant Women)

  • 본 연구는 결혼이주여성의 자기유능감을 향상하고, 부부 간 갈등해결방법 습득과 친밀한 가족관계 형성을 위해 통합예술치료 프로그램을 실시하여 어떠한 효과가 있는지 밝히고자 하였다. 본 프로그램의 대상자는 A시에 거주하는 결혼이주여성으로 한국에 거주한지 2년 이상인 여성으로 한정하였다. 실험집단 30명, 통제집단 31명을 무선표집으로 배치하고, 총 8회에 걸쳐 개입하였다. 사전검사는 1회 차에 실시하였으며, 사후 검사는 프로그램이 끝난 지 한 달 후에 실시하였다. 결혼이주여성을 위한 통합예술치료 프로그램의 실시 결과, 실험집단이 통제집단에 비해 자기유능감과 갈등해결방식에 효과가 있게 나타났다. 본 연구에서 실시한 결혼이주여성을 위한 통합예술치료 프로그램은 결혼이주여성으로 하여금 성공 경험을 만들어 줌으로써 자신감을 회복하고, 적극적으로 원만한 부부관계 및 가족관계를 형성하게 하기 위한 것이다. 또 실천 현장에서 활용할 수 있는 통합예술치료 프로그램을 제시하여 이주여성의 가족 및 사회적응의 기초를 마련하고자 한다.

부부상담 프로그램 개발 및 효과성 연구 : 부부갈등해결을 위한 통합적 접근 적용 (Study on the Development and Effectiveness of Marital Counseling Program : Applied Integrated Approach for Marital Conflict Solution)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop Marital Counseling Program for marital conflict solution and to verify the effects of the developed program both quantitatively and qualitatively. This marital counseling program consisted of conjoint marital counseling(5 session) and group marital counseling(6 sessions). Each 13 couples of the experiment group and the control group were analysed. The effectiveness of this program was evaluated by pretest, post test, and follow-up after 3 months. It was analyzed by Mann-Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed-Rank Test. Also, as for the experiment group, the level of objective change perception, qualitative evaluation, and program evaluation were investigated. The major results were as follows: This marital counseling program for conflict solution was effective to decrease the level of marital conflict and explosive conflict coping and to increase the level of emotional interaction, communication skill, marital satisfaction, and self-esteem among experiment group. These positive effects maintained at follow-up. Additionally, participants(experiment group) reported positive changes of psycho-emotional state, spouse interaction behavior, marital communication and marital relationships. However, in the control group, there were no change according to the time. Future research and practical implications were added.

기업 팀장이 인식하는 팀원과의 의사소통 과정 연구 (A study on communication process with team members perceived by team leader in corporation)

  • 본 연구는 기업 팀장이 인식하는 팀원과의 의사소통 과정을 깊이 있게 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울·경기 지역의 대기업, 중견 기업, 외국계 기업의 팀장 10명을 대상으로 심층면접을 진행하였고, Strauss와 Corbin이 제시한 근거이론 연구방법 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 분석 결과에 따라 총 51개의 개념과 17개의 하위범주 그리고 8개의 범주가 도출되었다. 인과적 조건으로는 '조직에 필요한 소통을 고민하고 재해석함'이 개념으로 도출되었고, 이에 따른 중심현상은 '업무대화와 사적대화 병행방식으로 의도적인 노력을 함'으로 나타났다. 맥락적 조건은 '환경변화에 대한 대처 필요성을 인식함', 중재적 조건은 '스스로 성찰하고 셀프코칭 시간을 가짐'이 도출되었다. 작용/상호작용 전략은 업무중심 대처, 갈등해결 대처, 관계증진 대처를 의사소통 과정으로 개념화되었고, 중심현상 상호작용 결과로서 '조직 내 선순환 소통을 인식함'으로 확인되었다. 팀장의 의사소통 과정분석 결과는 노력단계, 접근단계, 대처단계, 순환단계로 나타났고, 그 유형 분석 결과로써 업무중심 대처는 촉진자, 갈등해결 대처는 조력자, 관계증진 대처는 배려자로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기업 팀장이 팀원과의 관계에서 의사소통을 어떻게 인식하고 표현하는지에 대한 경험적 연구로 기업에서의 리더십 코칭과 리더 대상 상담에 차별적인 개입전략을 세우기 위한 정보를 제공하는데 의의가 있다.

문화적 차이에 따른 모바일 테크놀로지 패러독스 인식의 차이에 대한 비교 연구 (A Cross-cultural Study on the Mobile Technology Paradox)

  • As mobile Technology came into people's everyday life the conflicts between users' expectation on the mobile technology and real performance has increased. These kind of conflict as far as technology concerned, are called 'technology paradox' and have been studied by few researchers. The discussion on mobile technology paradox could be critical to understand users' mobile technology usage behavior because when users perceive the paradox they are supposed to choose a coping strategy. another factor regarding the perception of paradox and coping strategy the culture should be considered. Thus this paper developed a measurement for mobile technology perception and empirically tested based on survey result from Korea and U.S.A. The analysis clearly shows that there are substantial differences in perceiving technology paradox and choosing the coping strategy between Korean users and American users.

자기자비와 관계만족에서 갈등대처행동의 매개: 자기효과와 상대방효과 분석 (Conflict resolution strategies as a mediator in the relationship between self-compassion and relationship satisfaction : Actor effect and partner effect)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate a role of self-compassion in conflict resolution strategies among dating couples. Further, we examined conflict resolution strategies as mechanisms to explain in the relationship between self-compassion and relationship satisfaction. Method: Two hundred forty two dating couples were recruited. Actor and Partner Independence Model(APIM) was used to examine actor and partner effects of self-compassion on relationship satisfaction as well as conflict resolution strategies. The total of 4 APIMs, two positive conflict resolution strategies(i.e., positive emotional reactions, active coping) and two negative conflict resolution strategies(i.e., negative emotional reactions and hostility, avoidance) were analyzed. Positive conflict resolution strategies had only actor effect in the link between self-compassion and relationship satisfaction. That is, self-compassionate men and women were more likely to use positive conflict resolution strategies and, in turn, led to their higher relationship satisfaction. Both actor and partner effects were found in the negative conflict resolution strategy models. In terms of actor effect self-compassionate men and women were less likely to use negative conflict resolution strategies and that, in turn, led to their higher relationship satisfaction. In terms of partner effects we found that women's negative emotional reactions and hostility mediated the link between women's self-compassion and their male partners' relationship satisfaction. Men's avoidance mediated the link between men's self-compassion and their female partners' relationship satisfaction.

중환자실 간호사를 위한 자기주장훈련의 효과 (Effects of Assertiveness Training for ICU Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of assertiveness training on Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses' assertive behavior, job stress, communication conflict, and self-esteem toward improving their communication skills and coping. Methods: The assertiveness training program was developed to a 10-hour program consisting of 3 sessions. The goals were to understand assertive behavior and learn how to practice assertive communication in general conflict situations and/or a difficult conflict situation in the ICU. Participants were 65 nurses recruited from a tertiary teaching hospital and of these, 27 nurses completed the program. Data were collected from Jan. 30th to Mar. 28th, 2009 using a questionnaire which included demographic characteristics, assertive behaviour scale, job stress scale, communication conflict inventory-specific, and self-esteem scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS v. 14.0 for $x^2$ test and t-test. Results: ICU nurses in the experimental group had a significant increase in aspects of assertive behavior and a decrease in job stress. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that assertiveness training is effective in increasing ICU nurses' assertive behavior and decreasing job stress through reinforcement of assertiveness behavior.

Coping with Violence in the Thai-Cambodian Border: The Silence of the Border

  • The recent listing of Preah Vihear Temple as a World Heritage Site has awakened a longtime simmering border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia over a few square kilometers surrounding the ancient Khmer Temple. While the listing of the site by UNESCO was expected to revive the economy of the impoverished border towns near the temple due to the increased tourism and funding for the preservation of the archeological site, it has had the opposite effect due to the sharp increase in violent conflict carried out by the armed forces and nationalist activists from both sides. Military skirmishes and violent protests have brought the local economy to a halt in addition to causing considerable physical damage to the local infrastructure and to the local transnational network of ethnic Kui, local business owners, Khmer and Thai villagers. This paper shows how the dispute is viewed and undertaken by three distinct communities involved in the conflict, the militaries, the metropolitan political elites and activists, and the local villagers. The three communities represent three different cultures of conflict with different interests and most importantly with differential access to the media and official representations of the dispute.

초등학교 아동의 스트레스 생활사건과 대처방식, 건강문제에 관한 연구 (A Study of Stress, Stress Coping Style and Health Symptoms in 6th Grade Elementary School Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the stressors and stress coping styles of 6th grade el ementary school children and to explore the relationship between stressful life events and health symptoms and the effects of coping style which is theoretically considered to mediate the relationship between stress and health symptoms. The study subjects consisted of 329 in 6th grade elementary school children in Cheong-Ju city. Of the 329 subjects, 171 were boys and 158 were girls. For this study, three kinds of questionnaires were adopted as follows ; 1) Feel Bad Scale (FBS) by Lewis et al., 2) lazarus-Folkman's Way of coping questionnaire 3) Hee Sun Shin's Health Symptom questionnaire (HSQ) The researcher visited the school and collected data in the class using the questionnaire method after an explanation of the purpose and procedures was given to the children. Data collection was done for 10 days (from 5th to 15th of July 1997) . The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis using the SAS statistical program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The mean score for the FBS was 211.37(range : 77-427), The most severe stressors perceived by children were parental divorce and other's smash or steal of my things. The most frequently experienced stressful life events were conflict with siblings and being scolded for other's fault. 2. The most frequently used stress coping style was the active coping (M=17.85), followed by passive (M=13.64) and magical one (M=13.42). 3. The mean score for the HSQ was 23.30(range : 0-72) The most frequently complained health symptoms were headache and having much worry about everything. 4. There was a significant relationship between stressful life events and health symptoms (r=.60, p<.001). Also, stressful life events were positively related with passive coping(r=.27, p<.001) and magical coping (r=.38, p<.001). Health symptoms were positively correlated with passive coping(r=.33, p<.001) and magical coping (r=.41, p<.001). 5. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was the variable of stressful life events. Health concerns, magical coping style, passive coping style and active coping style accounted for 49.15% of the variance in health symptoms. This study revealed that stressful life events correlated with health symptoms in 6th grade elementary school children and passive coping and magical coping had mediating effects on this relationship. The implication for nursing is that there is a need to develop supportive interventions for high risk population to decrease health problems due to stress.

여성의 이혼의향에 영향을 미치는 관련변인 연구 (A study on variables that affect women's divorce intention)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to examine the general tendencies of women's divorce intention and to analyze the related variables that affect women's divorce intention. It would help explore the conditions for prevention or intervention of divorce. Methods: For this purpose, the structured survey was conducted by 521 married women aged between 20 and 70 living in Jeollanam-do and Gwangju. The data was analysed by SPSS 21.0 program. Results: First, the average score of divorce intention was 2.04, which was lower than the middle. The average score of self-differentiation, marital communication efficiency, reasonable coping, and social support were a bit higher than the median score. Second, the differences in the divorce intention according to the academic background and household income were statistically significant. Third, marital communication efficiency had the biggest effect on divorce intention and it was followed by avoidance-oriented behavior, reasonable coping, support from the local community, self-differentiation, and household income. Conclusion: It is very important to understand the various factors related to divorce intention especially in individual, marital, social aspects. In addition, it is actually required to develop the couple programs about coping strategies, effective couple communication and problem-solving methods. It also have to imply the requirements considering psychological, social aspects such as self-differentiation and social support.
