This research investigates the rheological behavior and the confined water ratio of the cement paste and binder condition in order to predict mix design proportion of the high flowing concrete. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum replacement ratio of binders including fly ash, and lime stone powder by the cement weight. For this purpose, belite cement, blast furnace slag cement and ordinary portland cement are selected. As test results, the confined water ratio shows the following range ; OPC>blast furnace slag cement>belite cement. Therefore, belite cement is proved very excellent cementitious materials in a view point of the flowability. The optimum replacement ratio of lime stone powder is shown over $30\%$ in case of belite cement and about $10\%$ in case of slag cement type. Also, the optimum replacement ratio of fly ash is shown $30\%$ by the cement weight considering the confined water ratio and deformable coefficient of the paste condition.
This study treated self-compacting high Performance concrete as two Phase materials of Paste and aggregates and examined the effect of powder and aggregates on self-compacting high performance, since fluidity and segregation resistance of fresh concrete are changed mainly by paste. To improve the fluidity and self-compactibility of concrete, optimum powder ratio of self-compacting high performance concrete using fly ash and blast-furnace slag as powders were calculated. This study was also designed to provide basic materials for suitable design of mix proportion by evaluating fluidity and compactibility by various volume ratios of fine aggregates, paste, and aggregates. As a result, the more fly ash was replaced, the more confined water ratio was reduced because of higher fluidity. The smallest confined water ratio was determined when 15% blast-furnace slag was replaced. The lowest confined water ratio was acquired when 20% fly ash and 15% blast-furnace slag were replaced together. The optimum fine aggregates ratio with the best compactibility was the fine aggregate ratio with the lowest percentage of void in mixing coarse aggregate and fine aggregate In mixing the high performance concrete. Self-compacting high performance concrete with desirable compactibility required more than minimum of unit volume weight. If the unit volume weight used was less than the minimum, concrete had seriously reduced compactibility.

This research is to examine the relationships between viscosity and fluidity according to binders in the super flowing concrete. And this research is described with respect to rheology concept, confined water ratio($\beta_p$) of binders in paste and mortar, also investigated experimentally the relationships between the relative flowing ratio ($\Gamma_m$) and the funneling velocity ratio($R_m$) on the mortar state according to the water binder ratio(W/B) and the dosage of the superplasticizer. From the confined water ratio tests, it is found that $\beta_p$ of the class C fly ash is higher than that of the class F fly and limestone in paste and mortar, therefore class F fly ash and limestone and super flowing concrete. The result of test, the optimum mix condition to the compactibility if satisfied when the replacement ratio is 30% and $K_p$ is 0.8 for the case of fly ash and limestone.

This study describes the optimum mix proportion of the high strength and self-compacting concrete placed in main structures of LNG above tank. This concrete requires high strength level about $60{\sim}80MPa$, low hydration heat, balance between workability and consistency without vibrating in the actual work. For this purpose, low heat portland cement and fly ash are selected and design factors including water-binder ratio, replacement ratio of fly ash are tested. As experimental results, low heat portland cement shows lower the confined water ratio than another cement type and the optimum replacement ratio of fly ash in order to improve properties of the binder-paste shows 10% by cement weight considering test results of the confined water ratio$({\beta}p)$. Also, flowability of the high strength and self-compacting concrete by using fly ash about $10{\sim}20%$ is improved. The replacement ratio of fly ash 10% and water-binder ratio $25{\sim}27%$ are suitable to the design strength 80MPa and cost, In case of the design strength 60MPa, the replacement ratio of fly ash and water-binder ratio show 20% and $25{\sim}30%$ separately. Based on the results of this study, the optimum mix proportions of the high strength and self-compacting concrete will be applied to the construction of LNG above tank as a new type.

In this paper, the mix design of the super flowing concrete is described with respcet to basic concept, confined water ratio($\beta_p$), volume ratio of water-binder(w/b), volume ratio of fine aggregates($S_r$) and coarse aggregates($G_v$). The primary purposes of this study are to evaluate the effects of cementitious materials(fly ash, slag cement, portland cement), mixing factors ($\beta_p$, w/b, $S_r$, $G_v$)., and to propose the mix design method of the super flowing concrete. As results of this study, confined water ratio($\beta_p$) of cementitious materials is very high (0.99~1.1), and then the ranges of the optimum mixing factors to be satisfied with the super flowing concrete are $S_r$ 47$\ell$
2%, $G_v$ 52$\ell$
1%.
While the cyclic behaviour of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)-confined columns is studied rather extensively, the cyclic response especially the energy dissipation of FRP-confined damaged and undamaged square RC columns is not yet fully understood. In this paper, an experimental and numerical investigation was conducted to study the cyclic behavior of two different types of Carbon FRP (CFRP)-confined square RC columns: strengthened and repaired. The main variables investigated are initial damage, confinement of CFRP, longitudinal steel reinforcement ratio. The experimental results show that lower initial damage, added confinement with CFRP and longitudinal reinforcement enhance the ductility, energy dissipation capacity and strength of the columns, decrease the stiffness and strength degradation rates of all CFRP-confined square RC columns. Two hysteretic constitutive models were developed for confined damaged and undamaged concrete and cast into the non-linear beam-column fiber-based models in the software Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (OpenSees) to analyze the cyclic behavior of CFRP-confined damaged and undamaged columns. The results of the numerical models are in good agreement with the experiments.
This study describes data from determination of the optimum mix proportion and site application of the mass concrete placed in bottom slab and side wall having a large depth and section as main structures of LNG in-ground tank. This concrete requires low heat hydration, excellent balance between workability and consistency because concreting work of LNG in-ground tank is usually classified by under-pumping, adaptation of longer vertical and horizontal pumping line than ordinary pumping condition. For this purpose, low heat Portland cement and lime stone powder as cementitious materials are selected and design factors including unit cement and water content, water-binder ratio, fine aggregate ratio and adiabatic temperature rising are tested in the laboratory and batch plant. As experimental results, the optimum unit cement and water content are selected under $270kg/m^3$ and $l55{\~}l60 kg/m^3$ separately to control adiabatic temperature rising below $30^{\circ}C$ and to improve properties of the fresh and hardened concrete. Also, considering test results of the confined water ratio($\beta$p) and deformable coefficient(Ep), $30\%$ of lime stone powder by cement weight is selected as the optimum replacement ratio. After mix proportions of 5cases are tested and compared the adiabatic temperature rising($Q^{\infty}$, r), tensile and compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, teases satisfied with the required performances are chosen as the optimum mix design proportions of the side wall and bottom slab concrete. $Q^{\infty}$ and r are proved smaller than those of another project. Before application in the site, properties of the fresh concrete and actual mixing time by its ampere load are checked in the batch plant. Based on the results of this study, the optimum mix proportions of the massive concrete are applied successfully to the bottom slab and side wall in LNG in-ground tank.
This study is to performed to find the optimum mix proportion of the high strength and self compacting concrete for the above-ground LNG storage tank construction and field application. If LNG storage tank wall thicknesscan be reduced, the construction cost and quality can be improved by using self-compacting high strength concrete with compressive strength 60~80 MPa. For this purpose, low heat cement (Type IV) and class F fly ash are used in concrete mix to control hydration heat, flowability, and viscosity. Mix design variables of unit water, fly ash replacement ratio, water-binder ratio, and fine aggregate ratio are selected and tested for material properties and manufacturing cost of the concrete. Also, fly ash replacement ratio is considered using confined water ratio test. The test results showed that the optimum mix proportion of the self-compacting high strength concrete characteristics are as follows. 1) In case of the concrete with specified compressive strength of 60 MPa, the optimum mix proportion is fly ash replacement ratio of 20% and water- binder ratio of 27~30%. 2) In case of the concrete with the strength of 80 MPa, the optimum mix proportion is fly ash replacement ratio of 10% and water-binder ratio 25%. But unit water and fine aggregate ratio are 165 $kg/m^3$ and $51{\pm}2%$, respectively, regardless of the traget concrete compressive strength range. Also, test results showed that concrete manufacturing cost of 60 MPa and 80 MPa concrete require additional costs of 14~22% and 33%, respectively, compared to the manufacturing cost of 40 MPa concrete. Therefore, application of the self-compacting high strength concrete has proven to be economical in the perspective of the material cost, quality control, and site management.

This study is the experimental results on the flowing properties of the super flowing concrete (SFC) using limestone (LS), which is to develop the SFC in level of ordinary strength. And this study is described with respect to basic concept, confined water ratio ($\beta_p$) of binder (cement+limestone) in paste, relationship between volume ratio of water-binder (w/b) and addition ratio of superplasticizer in mortar, flowing velocity and funneling time and compressive strength in concrete to replacement ratio of LS. The results of this study is improved to flowing properties in fleshly concrete with increasing replacement ratio of LS. The optimal mixing condition of the SFC using LS in level of ordinary strength is proved W/C 55%, LS 40% and W/C 60%, LS 50%.
This study confirms reinforcing effect of geosynthetics in the use of soil at higher water contents as a compaction material on compaction tests, field compaction tests, and numerical analysis. To verify a confined effect, a large mold(area ratio of rammer / mold = 0.19) larger than D compaction mold(area ratio of rammer / mold = 0.33) was performed for compaction. It showed that in the D compaction test, dry density were 0.5~0.6% increases and in the compaction test using the large mold, it were 2.4~3.7% increases at high water contents. It shows that when the area of compacted area is large enough, a confined effect could be arising from the reinforcement of geosynthetics even at high water contents. As a result of analyzing of compaction effects according to 'depth(z/B) from compacted surface' in the field, when not reinforced, the compaction state deteriorated due to the over-compaction and the compaction did not work well. However, when reinforcement of geosynthetics, restraint effect by geosynthetics occurs, it is confirmed that the compaction energy is effectively transferred to the compaction layer and the dry density is increased. Also, through the conceptual model of the behavior of geosynthetic and soil layer, the mechanism in the ground due to reinforcement of geosynthetics is presented and it is verified through finite element analysis.
