Extended Inductive Miner to Discover Semantic Annotated Process Model: A Variability-Based Approach

  • In recent years, the concept of a configurable process model has made many contributions, with the need for generic and reusable models. The high demand for this type of generic model is accompanied by quality requirements, as these models must be as comprehensive as possible to facilitate the task of customization. Many approaches exist to deal with configurable process models, especially in the field of process mining, including its three types of techniques: discovery, conformance, and enhancement. However, there is a lack of semantic representation in the resulting models. In this study, we propose a novel automated approach based on the extension of the Inductive Miner algorithm used to discover business process models. This method discovers a semantically annotated configurable process model using two ontologies: variability ontology and domain ontology-related concepts, which will improve and facilitate the configurable process model customization.

Application Specific Processor Design for H.264 Decoder with a Configurable Embedded Processor

  • An application specific processor for an H.264 decoder with a configurable embedded processor is designed in this research. The motion compensation, inverse integer transform, inverse quantization, and entropy decoding algorithm of H.264 decoder software are optimized. We improved the performance of the processor with instruction-level hardware optimization, which is tailored to configurable embedded processor architecture. The optimized instructions for video processing can be used in other video compression standards such as MPEG 1, 2, and 4. A significant performance improvement is achieved with high flexibility. Experimental results show that we could achieve 300% performance for the H.264 baseline profile level 2 decoder.

  • A novel approach of embedded systems for video coding is introduced with the main theme focused on logic-enhanced DRAM and configurable processor. This approach is aiming at reducing high computational costs and frequent memory accessing, which embedded systems are suffering with in the execution of video coding. According Co the software execution analysis, large size functions with intensive memory accesses are tuned to be executed by the logic-enhanced DRAM while small size functions repeatedly called are to be executed by dedicated instructions, which are newly introduced in the configurable processor. The proposed system can speed up H.263 video coding algorithm 7.4 times in comparison with the conventional embedded processor based system.

  • A new architecture of field programmable gate array for high-speed datapath applications is presented. Its implementation is facilitated by a configurable interconnect technology based on a one-time, two-terminal programmable, very low-impedance anti-fuse and by a configurable logic module optimized for datapath applications. The configurable logic module can effectively implement diverse logic functions including sequential elements such as latches and flip-flops, and arithmetic functions such as one-bit full adder and two-bit comparator. A novel programming architecture is designed for supplying large current through the anti-fuse element, which drops the on-resistance of anti-fuse below $20{\Omega}$. The chip has been fabricated using a $0.8-{\mu}m$ n-well complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology with two layers of metalization.

  • Testing approaches for configurable software product lines differs significantly from a single software testing, as it requires consideration of common parts used by all member products of a product line and variable parts shared by some or a single product. Test coverage is a measure of the adequacy of testing performed. Test coverage measurements are important to evaluate the adequacy of testing at the software product line level, as there can be hundreds of member products produced from configurable software product lines. This paper proposes a method for measuring code coverage at the product line level in configurable software product lines. The proposed method tests the member products of a product line after hierarchizing member products based on the inclusion relationship of the selected features, and quantifies SPL(Software Product Line) test coverage by synthesizing the test coverage of each product. As a result of applying the proposed method to 11 configurable software product line cases, we confirmed that the proposed method could quantitatively visualize how thoroughly the SPL testing was performed to help verify the adequacy of the SPL testing. In addition, we could check whether the newly performed testing for a member product covers the newly added code parts of a feature.

  • Compared with the existing cellular base station whose radio parameters are configured manually, the small base station named as self-configurable base station configures its radio parameters automatically by the central controller. When installing the self-configurable base station, it should be considered primarily that the seamless coverage for the target area is secured while the signal interference to the existing cellular service area must to be minimized. In order to achieve this, it is very important to select the correct radio parameters, e.g., transmission power and working frequency. In this work, we formulate and solve the optimization problem by using mixed integer programming to optimize the air parameter for the self-configurable base stations.
