Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) is a kind of rechargeable secondary battery, developed from lithium battery, lithium ions move between the positive and negative electrodes to realize the charging and discharging of external circuits. Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are porous crystalline materials in which organic imidazole esters are cross-linked to transition metals to form a framework structure. In this article, ZIF-67 is used as a sacrificial template to prepare nano porous carbon (NPC) coated cobalt nanoparticles. The final product Co/NPC composites with complete structure, regular morphology and uniform size were obtained by this method. The conductive network of cobalt and nitrogen doped carbon can shorten the lithium ion transport path and present high conductivity. In addition, amorphous carbon has more pores that can be fully in contact with the electrolyte during charging and discharging. At the same time, it also reduces the volume expansion during the cycle and slows down the rate of capacity attenuation caused by structure collapse. Co/NPC composites first discharge specific capacity up to 3115 mA h/g, under the current density of 200 mA/g, circular 200 reversible capacity as high as 751.1 mA h/g, and the excellent rate and resistance performance. The experimental results show that the Co/NPC composite material improves the electrical conductivity and electrochemical properties of the electrode. The cobalt based ZIF-67 as the precursor has opened the way for the design of highly performance electrodes for energy storage and electrochemical catalysis.

In this study, the piezoresistive properties of cementitious composites enhanced with carbon nanotubes for improved electrical conductivity were analyzed using a deep learning-based transformer algorithm. Experimental execution was performed in parallel for acquisition of training data. Previous studies on mixture design, specimen fabrication, chemical composition analysis, and piezoresistive performance testing are also reviewed in this paper. Notably, specimens in which fly ash substituted 50% of the binder material were fabricated and evaluated in this study, in addition to carbon nanotube-infused specimens, thereby exploring the potential enhancement of piezoresistive characteristics in conductive cementitious materials. The experimental results showed more stable piezoresistive responses in specimens with fly-ash substituted binder. The transformer model was trained using 80% of the gathered data, with the remaining 20% employed for validation. The analytical outcomes were generally consistent with empirical measurements, yielding an average absolute error and root mean square error between 0.069 to 0.074 and 0.124 to 0.132, respectively.
This work explored the catalytic effect of Pt in multi-wall carbon nanotube and poly-pyrrole conductive polymer electrocatalysts (Pt/PPy/MWCNT). A home-made Pt/PPy/MWCNT catalyst was first evaluated by comparing its electrochemical active surface area (ESA) with E-Tek commercial catalysts by cyclic voltammetry in $H_2SO_4$ solution. Then, the methanol oxidation currents of Pt/PPy/MWCNT and the hydrogen peaks in $H_2SO_4$ solution were serially measured with microporous electrode. This provided the current density of methanol oxidation based on the ESA, allowing a quantitative comparison of catalytic activity. The current densities were also measured for Pt/C catalysts of E-Tek and Tanaka Precious Metal Co. The current densities for the different catalysts were similar, implying that catalytic activity depended directly on the ESA rather than charge transfer or electronic conductivity.

Carbon nanotube (CNT) and alumina ($Al_2O_3$) are synthesized into hybrid composites, and an advanced electrical discharge machining (EDM) system is developed for the machining of hard and conductive materials. CNT nanoparticles are mixed with $Al_2O_3$ powder and the $Al_2O_3$/CNT slurry is sintered by spark plasma. The hardness and the electrical conductivity of the $Al_2O_3$/CNT hybrid composite were investigated. The electrical discharge is controlled by a capacitive ballast circuit. The capacitive ballast circuit is applied to the tungsten carbide and the $Al_2O_3$/CNT hybrid composite. The voltage-current waveforms and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images were measured to analyze the characteristics of the boring process. The developed EDM process can manufacture the ceramic based hybrid composites, thereby expecting the variety of applications.

This work describes the effect of binders, such as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), CMC+Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and PTFE, on the electrochemical and mechanical properties of activated carbon-electrode for electric double layer capacitor. The cell capacitors using the electrode bound with binary binder composed of CMC and PTFE, especially m composition CMC ; PTFE = 60 : 40 wt %, has exhibited the better rate capability and the lower internal resistance than those of the cell capacitor with CMC. On the other hand, the sheet type electrode kneaded with PTFE was bonded with conductive adhesive on Al foil. This cell capacitor using the electrode with PTFE exhibited the best mechanical properties and rate capability compared to the CMC and CMC+PTFE one These behaviors could be explained by the well-developed network structure of PTFE fibrils during the kneading process.
Composite materials consisting of crushed carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) pieces and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin were prepared by an injection mold method to solve the problem of recycling of CFRP. The electrical properties, such as electrical resistivity, alternating current impedance and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effect, were measured for the composites. The electrical resistivity of the composites showed a percolation type of conduction behavior and no difference between parallel and perpendicular to the injection direction was observed for CFRP content higher than the critical value. Measurement of alternating current impedance revealed that the conduction mechanism is attributed to the direct conductive paths generated by distributed carbon fibers; however, strong frequency dependence of the impedance was observed for the CFRP content near the critical one. The frequency dependence of the impedance is caused by the inter-fiber connection and can be expressed as a simple equivalent circuit. The absorption component of shielding effect (SE) was smaller than the expected value estimated from its resistivity. The decline of SE is thought to be caused by the decrease in effective thickness due to fiber orientation.
The bioelectrochemical reduction of nitrate in the presence of various mediators including methyl viologen and azure A was studied using a 3-electrode voltammetric system. The catalytic potential for the reduction of the mediators was observed in the reactor, which for methyl viologen and azure A were -0.74 V and -0.32 V, respectively, with respect to the potential of Ag/AgCl reference electrode. This potential was then applied to a working electrode to reduce each mediator for enzymatic nitrate reduction. Nitrite, the product of the reaction, was measured to observe the enzymatic nitrate reduction in the reaction media. Methyl viologen was observed as the most efficient mediator among those tested, while azure A showed the highest electron efficiency at the intrinsic reduction potential when the mediated enzyme reactions were carried out with the freely solubilized mediator. The electron transfer of azure A with respect to time was due to the adhesion of azure A to the hydrophilic surface during the reduction. In addition, the use of the adsorbed mediator on conductive activated carbon was proposed to inhibit the change in the electron transfer rate during the reaction by maintaining a constant mediator concentration and active surface area of the electrode. Azure A showed better than nitrite formation than methyl viologen when used with activated carbon.

This study focuses on a determination of amount of Pt in the Pt/C for catalysts of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). PEMFC offer low weight and high power density and being considered fur automotive and stationary power applications. The PEMFC behavior is quite complex is influenced by several factors, including catalysts and structure of electrode and membrane type. Catalyst of electrode is important factor for PEMFC. One of the obstacles preventing polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells from commercialization is the high cost of noble metals to be used as catalyst, such as platinum. To effectively use these metals, they have to be will dispersed to small particles on conductive carbon supports. The optimal amount of Pt in Pt/C was investigated by using polarization curves in single cell with $H_2/O_2$ operation.

This paper is focused on the development of the flexible electrode for disc-type polymer actuators using Segmented Polyurethane(SPU). This paper consists of two parts. The one is about the mechanical property such as elastic modulus. these parameters mainly affect behaviors of polymer actuators and the other is about the electro-chemical property such as the surface resistance of the composite electrode affects the strength of electrostatic force, results in the deformation of polymer actuators. The Young's modulus was measured by UTM. As result, by increasing the modulus of a body of polymer actuators, the maximum displacement of polymer actuators are decreased. The surface resistance of the electrode was measured by 4 point probe system. Compared with the conductive silver grease, the displacement of polymer actuators using carbon black(CB) composite electrodes is comparably small but CB composite electrode should be the practical approach for the improvement of the performance of all-solid actuators, compared with another types of electrode materials.
