Large panel building systems are composed of vertical wall panels which support horizontal roof and floor panels to form a box like structure. The simplecity of the connections, which makes precast concrete economically viable, causes a lack of continuity in stiffness, strength and ductility. This precast concrete large panel systems typically have weak connection regions. Three types of 2-story full-scale precast concrete subassemblages were tested under reversed cyclic loading. The seismic resistance capacity and failure mode of each system are compared in connection with the characteristics of joint connection details.
Precast concrete elements in accelerated bridge construction (ABC) extends from superstructure to substructure, precast pile foundation has proven a benefit for regions with fragile ecological environment and adverse geological condition. There is still a lack of knowledge of the seismic behavior and performance of the precast pile foundation. In this study, a 1/8 scaled model of precast pile foundation with elevated cap is fabricated for quasi-static test. The failure mechanism and responses of the precast pile-soil interaction system are analyzed. It is shown that damage occurs primarily in precast pile-soil interaction system and the bridge pier keeps elastic state because of its relatively large cross-section designed for railways. The vulnerable part of the precast pile with elevated cap is located at the embedded section, but no plastic hinge forms along the pile depth under cyclic loading. Hysteretic curves show no significant strength degradation but obvious stiffness degradation throughout the loading process. The energy dissipation capacity of the precast pile-soil interaction system is discussed by using index of the equivalent viscous damping ratio. It can be found that the energy dissipation capacity decreases with the increase of loading displacement due to the unyielding pile reinforcements and potential pile uplift. It is expected to promote the use of precast pile foundation in accelerated bridge construction (ABC) of railways designed in seismic regions.
This paper presents an experimental work on the post-fire behavior of two kinds of innovative composite stub columns under eccentric compression. The partially precast steel reinforced concrete (PPSRC) column is composed of a precast outer-part cast using steel fiber reinforced reactive powder concrete (RPC) and a cast-in-place inner-part cast using conventional concrete. Based on the PPSRC column, the hollow precast steel reinforced concrete (HPSRC) column has a hollow column core. With the aim to investigate the post-fire performance of these composite columns, six stub column specimens, including three HPSRC stub columns and three PPSRC stub columns, were exposed to the ISO834 standard fire. Then, the cooling specimens and a control specimen unexposed to fire were eccentrically loaded to explore the residual capacity. The test parameters include the section shape, concrete strength of inner-part, eccentricity ratio and heating time. The test results indicated that the precast RPC shell could effectively confine the steel shape and longitudinal reinforcements after fire, and the PPSRC stub columns experienced lower core temperature in fire and exhibited higher post-fire residual strength as compared with the HPSRC stub columns due to the insulating effect of core concrete. The residual capacity increased with the increasing of inner concrete strength and with the decreasing of heating time and load eccentricity. Based on the test results, a FEA model was established to simulate the temperature field of test specimens, and the predicted results agreed well with the test results.

The cost on transmission and election of precast concrete members largely depends on the weight of them. In this study, the weight of prestressed precast beam could be reduced by control the section and prestressing force to meet the required strength on the basis of the optimum process. The top and bottom concrete stress of the section considered is required to check according to each construction step for this process. The original rectangular beam weight could be reduced up to 50~39% due to the development of a U-beams from the optimum process.

For checking influence of load-position and system of stress-transmission in precast concrete bridge deck system, the test composite bridge was made a experiment by the wheel load machine. The result of experiment was the loop joint system of the precast decks has a difference which was the transmission system of longitudinal stress, comparing with general RC bridge deck system. The loop joint system has a behavior independently.

Flexural-torsional behaviors of the typical architectural precast beam sections - inverted tee and rectangular - were compared. The inverted-tee beams were designed with a parking live load - 500kgf/$\textrm{m}^2$ and a market-1,200kgf/$\textrm{m}^2$ according to the currently used typical shape in the domestic market building site. The rectangular beams were also designed as the same bottom dimension and area, and reinforced for similar strength as in the cases of inverted tee beams. Two rectangular and two inverted precast pretensioned concrete beams were tested and analyzed

In this paper, a new type of precast perforated concrete block is presented to be used in the construction of a step seawall. The overtopping rate of the perforated step seawall is lower than that of the traditional non-perforated step seawall. In construction stage, the cost of total construction of the perforated block is cheaper than that of traditional block. The new type of perforated block may be used as an alternative for shore protection facility.

Although portland cement concrete is one of the most universal construction materials, it has some disadvantage such as shrinkage, which is an inherent characteristic. Because of this shrinkage, combined with the low tensile strength of the material, cracks of varying sizes can be found in every reinforced concrete. To prevent this cracking, keeping the concrete in compression by mechanical prestress has been used. This study discusses application of expansive additives for concrete to improve the serviceability of precast concrete box culvert by inducing chemical prestress. For this purpose, both expansive concrete slabs and normal concrete slabs are tested to verify the effect of expansive additives. Then the failure tests of the fullscale precast box culverts were carried out and the critical aspects of the structural behavior were investigated. The result of the material testis shows that the optimal proportion of expansive additives is 13 percent of cement weight, and the properties of expansive concrete are the same as those of normal concrete in that proportion. Both the experimental cracking load and service load of the expansive concrete members are increased in comparison with those of the normal concrete, but the ultimate load is decreased slightly. In addition to the above results, the deformation of expansive concrete member is lets than that of normal concrete member, and permanent strain which results from cyclic load is decreased. It can be concluded that the use of expansive additives to induce chemical prestress in precast concrete box culvert greatly improves the serviceability.

Precast concrete elements are widely used in the construction of buildings and civil infrastructures as they provide higher construction quality and requires less construction time. However, any abnormalities in precast concrete surfaces such as non-flatness or distortion, can influence the erection of the elements as well as the functional performance of the connections between elements. Thus, it is important to undertake surface flatness and distortion inspection (SFDI) on precast concrete elements before their delivery to the construction sites. The traditional methods of SFDI which are conducted manually or by contact-type devices are, however, time-consuming, labor-intensive and error-prone. To tackle these problems, this study proposes techniques for SFDI of precast concrete elements using laser scanning technology. The proposed techniques estimate the $F_F$ number to evaluate the surface flatness, and estimate three different measurements, warping, bowing, and differential elevation between adjacent elements, to evaluate the surface distortion. The proposed techniques were validated by experiments on four small scale test specimens manufactured by a 3D printer. The measured surface flatness and distortion from the laser scanned data were compared to the actual ones, which were obtained from the designed surface geometries of the specimens. The validation experiments show that the proposed techniques can evaluate the surface flatness and distortion effectively and accurately. Furthermore, scanning experiments on two actual precast concrete bridge deck panels were conducted and the proposed techniques were successfully applied to the scanned data of the panels.
