  • This paper presents comparisons of pullout load of concrete with compressive strength of cylinders and cores, pulse velocity, and rebound number. A pullout test, which is a relatively new nondestructive technique, measures with a special tension ram the force required to pullout a specially shaped steel rod whose enlarged end has been cast into a concrete block. In this study 3 concrete mixes(normal strength, high-strength & super-high-strength) were made. From each mix, one 100$\times$70$\times$20 concrete block, 24 cylinders$(\phi10mm)$were casted. Each tests were performed on the concrete blocks at 3, 7, 28, and 91days. The test data shows that the pullout test is superior to the rebond hammer and the pulse velocity measurements on the evaluation of concrete strength. The pullout test is satisfactory for estimating the strength of in situ concrete at both early and late age, and its results can be reproduced with an acceptable degree of accuracy.

  • This study evaluated the reduction performance of ambient temperature and the amount of evaporation that takes place depends on the temperature difference of paving blocks which are used in the sidewalk, roadway, parking lot, park, plaza, and etc. The water-retentive block of the LID (Low Impact Development) practice was compared with the conventional concrete block. For the quantitative performance evaluation, experiments were performed in a climatic environment chamber capable of controlling the climatic environment (solar radiation, temperature, humidity, rainfall, and snowfall). The method for performance evaluation was proposed using temperature, humidity, and ambient air of paving blocks which changes according to the solar radiation and the wind speed after the rainfall. As a result, the evaporation amount of the water-retentive block was 2.6 times higher than that of the concrete block, the surface temperature of water-retentive block was $10^{\circ}C$ lower than the concrete block, and the air temperature of water-retentive block was $4.6^{\circ}C$ lower than the concrete block. Therefore, it is analyzed that the water-retentive block with a large amount of evaporation is more effective in reducing the urban heat island phenomenon as compared with the concrete block.

  • Sludge generated in the production of ready-mixed concrete is classified as waste and processed at a high cost. In particular, small and medium-sized ready-mix manufacturer are burdened with such costs, and some companies are illegally processing them. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest a method for recycled remicon sludge as a concrete block composition. When the remicon sludge is simply dried, the residual chemical admixture and ettringitee contained in the sludge are present, so that the compressive strength of the concrete block and the compressive strength after freezing and thawing are largely deteriorated to meet the quality standards of the concrete shore and retaining wall block It was not possible to do. As a method for satisfying the physical performance, it was found that the remicon sludge was calcined at a high temperature of about $900^{\circ}C$. to decompose ettringite and residual chemical admixture and then used it.

  • Recycling of coal combustion by-product(Ash) are becoming more improtant in the utilization business as a result of the increased use of NOx reduction technologies at coal-fired power plants. current disposal methods of these by-products create not only a loss of profit for the power industry, but also environmental concerns that breed negative public opinion. This research made concrete crecast block using coal ash artificial aggregate for environmental-friendly products and compared strength special quality of this block with existent common use brick and analyzed application possibility in situ with a reserve experiment that measured strength property and manufactured method to handle coal ash produced in Bo-ryung thermoelectric power plant.

  • Precast concrete blocks are used mainly for score protection, slope protection and riverbed structure protection, etc. Because these concrete blocks are exposed to water or wetting environments, the steel rebar used as reinforcements in concrete blocks can corrode easily. Corrosion of the steel rebar tends to reduce the performance and service life of the concrete blocks. In this study, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer(GFRP) rebar, which does not corrode, was applied instead of a steel rebar to prevent performance degradation of the blocks. Recycled concrete aggregate and high early strength cement(HESC) were used in the concrete mix for field applicability. The experiment results showed that the workability and form removal strength of the recycled aggregate concrete using HESC showed comparable results to normal concrete and the compressive strength at 28 days increased by about 18% compared to normal concrete. The load resistance capacity of the recycled aggregate concrete blocks reinforced with a GFRP rebar increased by approximately 10~30% compared to common concrete block.

  • This study is to investigate application to the load packing or block with photocatalystic which has the characteristics absorption and removal for NOx, which is mainly generated from plant or car, which can be resolved by actions of light. Therefor a basic study was carried out to maximize the photocatalystic block for elimination of NOx.

  • In this paper, The experiment is performed for using reinforced building of foundation as a down conductor and a substitutional earth electrode. It is shown that earth resistance is influenced by mortar block resistance and concrete resistance more than the change of the resistance which is about steel reinforcing volume in all of the mortar block model and concrete block model.

  • In order to investigate the effect of the height of application point of lateral loads and reinforcing steel bars in walls and columns in improving the seismic behavior of confined concrete block masonry walls, an experimental research program is conducted. A total of twelve one-half scale specimens are tested under repeated lateral loads. Specimens are tested to failure with increasing maximum lateral drifts while a vertical axial load was applied and maintained constant. The specimens adopted are two-dimensional (2D) hollow concrete block masonry walls with different parameters such as shear span ratio, inflection point and percent of reinforcement in confining columns and walls. Test results obtained for each specimen include cracking patterns, load-deflection curve, and strains in reinforcement and walls in critical locations. Analysis of test data showed that above parameters generate a considerable effect on the seismic performance of confined concrete block masonry walls.

  • The object of this study was to investigate the flexural stress blocks of High Strength Concrete Members under monotonic loading. Such a stress block should be clearly idealized before High Strength Concrete can be used with confidence in Structural Members. The principal test variables were the Compressive Strength of Concrete, the percentage of longitudinal reinforcement and the spacing of confinement reinforcement. The rectangular stress block of the present ACI Building Code was found to give acceptably conservative flexural strength predictions over the entire range of concrete strength from 280kg/crd (4Ksi)to 1050kg/crd( 15Ksi)

  • The present age, it has been often reported that recycling of wasted glasses should he a great topic in related business circles. For the enviromental reasons, a public institution are looking for the ways of recycling these waste glasses. First of all, the purpose of this research is to recycle crushed and powdered waste glasses by substituting for the cement in mortar and concrete. the optimum replacement ratio of Powdered Waste Glasses(PWG) can be obtained from the pilot test results. Secondary, we made advances in recycling of waste glasses as recycled to make secondary concrete products. so, we manufactured concrete brick, block and interlocking block for side walk contained powdered waste glasses. finally, we compare properties among of concrete products to slove the economical and environmental problems.
